Any band directors or does anyone know band directors who need a job?

Hi, I know this is probably not the best place to put this but I’m desperate. I go to Pensacola High School and our band director just said that he has to quit due to personal reasons. He is leaving the school on Friday next week and the position was only recently posted. I, myself, and others want the band to have a full season with as little issues as possible, but without a band director after next week that will be difficult. Especially now finding a band director will be difficult due to the school year already starting so fewer people will be looking for the job.

So anyway my question for all of you is that if you yourself or someone you know is a band director please consider applying to be one at Pensacola High School, all of the students would greatly appreciate it.

If you have any questions I’ll try to anwser them, thank you all.

Earplugs

I’m just now seeing everyone talk about ear plugs, in my three years of high school marching band my band director has NEVER mentioned a earplug, people complain all the time about how shitty their hearing is or how loud it is, but everyone always just says to suck it up, should I say something to my band director about earplugs?

How did you get introduced to the Indigo Girls?

I have just always known them but my first memory of listening to them was whenever I was like 4 and my mom and I would drive around alone we would listen to Rites of Passage. And everytime Joking came on with the part in the end we would rock back and forth shaking the car.

I’m having a very hard time as a section leader and need advice

So I have always wanted to be section leader and worked for it, and this year I got it. I went into band camp so excited and already had a plan. However, while I was in a sectional for marching I kept counting over the amount I said, mixing up my words, and always apologizing because I was so nervous. Then onto sectionals for music and basically the same thing happened I was missing mistakes and other members were telling me to correct them, and I couldn’t count off right (also same thing with apologizing). I talked with my drum major and she was like it’s ok it’s only the first day. So I did research and the second day the marching sectionals were just as bad as the day before but the music sectionals were better. Anyway now onto today, both sectionals were better in regards to my mistakes but for example during marching I was telling people to count loud and another section leader was telling me to stop saying that, and then in the music sectional I was correcting someone on slurs and articulation and then another section leader came in and started saying they played perfect and that I was being too nit picky, and the section member was upset. And apparently the band director thinks I’m doing bad. I know all of these are true and I feel so bad about all of it but no matter how hard I try I can’t get everything right and all of the other section leaders already get it so the fact that I don’t is really frustrating me. Also I know that if another section leader is dropping in and criticizing me then I am failing my section and I feel awful about it.

I want to be section leader more than anything but I need help on how to get better and stop being so nervous

Clarinet section leader suggestions

I just found out that I got section leader (really late my director is a procrastinator). Are there any suggestions you guys have on being a good section leader? My idea is that I don’t want to use like push ups and stuff as punishment but instead make them stay after and clean or help bring front ensemble to the field. I also want to use positive reinforcement with stickers and such, I am buying supplies for my section so that they don’t have to go through the band director and get shamed for needing things, and I am gonna try to never shame or come down on someone for a mistake. Also for people missing practice I will only require proof that they practiced if they miss for no reason besides they didn’t want to come. Anyway what do you guys think of what I’ve got so far and any other suggestions you may have?

How can I improve my skills?

For the record I did this on computer and I almost always use controller, and my sprint time is much faster than this at around a 1:30 on average. But I feel like I’ve reached a standstill in Tetris I want to get a lot better and I know the things I need to improve but idk where to look for them and I need criticism to know where to specifically improve. Anyway… if you could watch this and provide feedback that would be great! (Please don’t say how bad I did, it was bad I know I usually do better)

Is this a classical or acoustic guitar?

I found this at a thrift store a few days ago with broken metal strings. So I took it to a guitar center because I heard that they restring guitars and the person there said that the metal strings are bad for the guitar because it’s a classical guitar. So I restrung it and brought it home (important note this is my first guitar) as I was practicing I got curious about the brand and looked it up, and saw some people on another Reddit post with a similar picture were saying it’s a T.A. Lawerence 17001 acoustic guitar, but I couldn’t find anything on their official website. So I’m curious what it actually is and if the guitar center guy misinformed me, and if so do I have to buy new strings because so far it sounds fine with the nylon strings and I really don’t want to buy new strings

Edit: I know a classical is acoustic I mean is this an acoustic classical guitar or a regular acoustic guitar
