Those who started going to a different denomination, why that one?

I want to know what denomination and why that one in particular? Do you believe it to be the fullness of the truth?

How to deal with death as a Lutheran

Someone died recently, they weren't close to me, but they were young (teenager), he was involved in some bad stuff, but apparently he went to church with his family (probably baptist). I dont know if he was baptized or truly believed or anything like that. But with my level of knowledge that I have about historic Christianity, I believe in praying for the dead (im not officially Lutheran). So I prayed a few times today for his soul. It was something like, "Please lord have mercy on ________. He was troubled, but still young. Please be Gracious in your judgement."

My question is, was this okay to pray as a Lutheran?

Went to a LCMS Church for the first time

Just wanted to share my story. Me and my wife have only been exposed to Baptist churches and have been attending a nondenominational church for several years. I felt like something was missing so I started researching theology and church history. It has lead me to believe that the fullness of truth must be contained in either the LCMS, ACNA, Catholic, or Orthodox Church. So, while im spending some spare time reading theology books, every other sunday I am going to visit one of these churches in a period of discernment. Today was my first time doing this and I decided to go to a local LCMS church. I was worried because the church was full of old people, small, and seemingly dying so I was worried they wouldn't be happy at a young couple showing up with a baby and disrupting their little church family. However, I was happily WRONG. There was lots of old people, but everyone was insanely nice and loved our baby. They worshipped reverantly and it was lovely. The way they sing prayers and hymns was different. All in all, after I explore the other churches I will certainly be back visiting this little LCMS church.

About to Visit an Orthodox Church for the first time!

Hello everybody!

Sometime in the next month or two I will be traveling over an hour to the nearest Orthodox Church. I believe it is an Antiochian Church so they speak English the whole time. I spent some time learning about the Catholic Church, but I dont think I can ever submit to their claims. I am very intrested in Orthodoxy though. I come from a Protestant background, so if theres any advice you could share that would be great. I also have a concern: I have a 4 month old son, is it a big deal if he cries at church? If so, what do I do, just leave?

AITA- Father in Law Edition

My wifes father wasn't a good dad and she didnt talk to him for some time as a teenager/ young adult. A bit before we got married he started being nicer and we've tried to engage with him and become friendly. Things have been relatively good. Until today.

I sent him an email asking if he could print me a paper I need to have signed for college (he has printed stuff for me before), and I preventatively said "thank you" at the end of the short email. He replied "A please would be nice" then he also texted his daughter (my wife) about me needing to show some courtesy.

I havent done anything yet, but I just need to know AITO?

Why so few Lutherans?

Hello! I love the Lutheran faith and I think im totally convinced it has the fullness of the faith- that is the most true version of Christianity. However, an issue I keep wrestling with is why there are so few lutherans? I feel like it only took me 6 months of discerning all denominations for me to realize Lutherans just make the most sense and follow everything the bible teaches. Why do you think so few come to the same conclusion?

Convinced of Lutheranism

Hello all! After about 8 months or so of exploring Catholicism and church history, I ended up not being convinced that the Catholic Church today is without error or protected from error and therefore I cannot assent to it. However, that left me in a crisis of Faith. If Catholicism is false, then is anything true? Luckily I ran across Lutheranism and as far as I can tell I can assesnt to everything in Lutheranism. In short, im totally convinced that Calvinism and Zwinglian theology curropt the gospel and are quite possibly damnable heresy in certain extremes. However, there's a few places where I'm still a little confused (I have yet to read Luther's Catechsim- I plan to buy his small Catechism next month). Sola Fide- Am I to understand this as Saving Faith alone (present with good works)? Same with Sola Gratia as saving grace alone? And lastly, I love iconography and I completly understand the arguments against veneration, but saintly intercession has a lot of merit and the arguments for it seem to be better then against. Any advice or helpful books is much appreciated. I plan to start discerning at a local LCMS church soon- as soon as my wife is on board.
