Thank you, Edwards & Co!

Thank you to the Paralives team for fixing the name on this building. It's appreciated!

(About 8 months ago, I made a post about the punctuation of the name on the brick building, at the time written out as Edwards & Co's, asking if it could be corrected. Some people had Big Feelings about my post because it was mild criticism, or because they thought the mistake was like McDonald's, and a post about a grammar error is the most downvoted post I've ever made on Reddit.)

Anyway, really looking forward to EA Day.

Cheap thrills

Someone posted that Beacon Pines was on sale for $1.20 at Instant Gaming so I hustled over and added some more cosy games on sale for less than $5 to my cart:

  1. Minami Lane / $1 It's been on my Steam Wishlist for a while but I never like builders (Hozy, Tiny Glade, etc) as much as I think I will so I was hesitant to drop the full price even though it's like $5
  2. The Last Campfire / $1 Holy MOTHER do I suck at puzzle games but everybody talks about this all the time so I wanted to give it a go but it's like $15 on Steam for a game I will 100% completely fail at.
  3. Beacon Pines / $1.25 I know nothing about this game other than that it is cute, involves changing a story with charms (which is charming) and Steam wants $20 they will never see from me for this title.
  4. Strange Horticulture / $5 I really pushed the boat out here and spent a whole $5 because I played the demo and liked it and and it has been on my Steam Wishlist forever.

I had only used Instant Gaming once before for a SIMs DLC but you get a code when you buy the title and when you click on Instant Gaming to see code you just bought, there's a link to send it directly to Steam. And then the title appears in your Steam Library like magic!

So thank you to whoever that was, I love you <3

PSA for people on ADHD meds and a GLP-1

Just off a consult with the psychiatrist in charge of my ADHD meds. I booked in saying that since I started a low-dose GLP-1 in January, my methylphenidate has basically stopped working in terms of both impact and duration. I knew the Ozempic was the cause because of both the timing and the fact that GLP-1s literally slow gastric absorption.

He has switched me from methylphenidate (Ritalin aka Concerta) to Tyvanse/Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) because it is broken down in the small intestine instead of the stomach. He said this is also what he prescribes for people who have had gastric bypass, which obviously makes sense.

Also FWIW he was very supportive of my preference for staying on a low dose (0.5mg) of Ozempic, same as my GP.

Anyway I thought it was interesting and wanted to pass that along.

PSA to anyone on a GLP-1

Just off a consult with my prescribing psychiatrist. I booked in saying that since I started a low-dose GLP-1 in January, my methylphenidate has basically stopped working in terms of both impact and duration. I knew the Ozempic was the cause because of both the timing and the fact that GLP-1s literally slow gastric absorption.

The issue is a problem for any extended release version of any stimulant. Your stomach is going to break down the ER tablet so slowly that you are never getting enough of a dosage in your bloodstream to do anything.

He has switched me to Tyvanse because it is processed in the small intestine instead of the stomach. He said this is also what he does for people who have had gastric bypass, which obviously makes sense.

Anyway I thought it was interesting and wanted to pass that along.

I feel like "The Strongest Archmage is Obsessed with Me, the Girl with Zero Magic!" is a book I've read a lot 🫣

I am really enjoying my incredibly slow, plodding meander through Arcane Library, but this is by far my favorite title of all 3,072 books!

Does anyone have opinions on mixtape?

It looks really fun and kind of different, but I'm curious if any of you have played through and if you have thoughts on whether it's worth buying or not. Especially interested in any steam deck experience with it.

It is on a new release sale of 10% off at Steam and I'm sort of thinking about it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2582320/Mixtape/

This color was a last minute addition because Boots was having a massive sale on Essie and I was ordering a couple of colors. It is now my favorite nude.

This is two coats. One coat is very sheer. Two coats gives this semi-opaque finish. I think three coats would be fully opaque.

However many coats, it has this very subtle gold iridescence finish from the absolute teeny tiniest gold shimmer particles. The effect is very pretty.

(Also, yes I have very ridged/striated nail beds. No I cannot be bothered to use ridge filler. They've been this weird my entire life and I'm used to it!)

  • Dream Home Decorator: 600K (2021)

Stuff Packs: Average 1M in sales

Kits: No data

Sales Trend:

I added the years because I wanted to cross-check the data on an observation that occurred to me while listening to the numbers:

  • The top 5 Expansions Packs were all before 2020. The bottom 5 have all been 2020 or later.
  • Same for the top 8 Game Packs: all before 2020. Lowest 4 sellers are all 2020 or later.

This is still a hugely successful and hugely profitable franchise, but it is interesting that players are buying less DLC than previously.

I have no idea how I found this other than "desperately searching Steam for cozy games at 1am on a random Tuesday" but the demo had just come out when I stumbled across this.

Pros: The art style is so cute but I also love the game play. The dialogue is not too much but also progresses the story. The areas you can go to are gorgeous.

Cons: There is a notebook that records information gained and the demo instructions are not great on how to use it; I am on Steam Deck so I dunno if it is more intuitive on other platforms. (Basically you have to select and click every piece of data added to the notebook before you can close it.) Once that's figured out, it's such a cute time!
