An update with some better photos on this project. Thank you guys for all the compliments on it. I wore it to Sound and Fury festival this past weekend and had a great time. Now onto finishing the back, which I already have the patches for.
Here's what I have so far. Finally got the Gorguts backpatch and it matches the vest perfectly. Still figuring out front placements. I finished sewing the Gorguts backpatch on last night using neon purple thread. Still got plenty of patches to go and I'm taking my time on making the stitching look nice and even.
I painted the buttons on the back with a neon green paint marker, and I really dig the look, so I'm going to continue that with the front. I'm also dying all my patches with fluorescent ink using markers so that they will glow in UV light!

Colored this patch last night and thought it came out super sick. It looks really cool in person, photos don't do it justice. Took me about 30 minutes to do. The Cynic logo and border were already fluorescent, so that saved some work.
Thought you guys would appreciate this patch for my new project I'm currently working on. I used fluorescent fabric markers and dyed the logo. I will be dying every patch on this vest so it'll really pop IN UV lighting. I will also be using fluorescent thread for sewing down all the patches. I'll post the finished project here.
Yesterday I dyed my newly sewn Cattle Decap patch using Uchida fluorescent green markers. For the blood incantation patch, it has neon threading, but I used neon pink markers for the border around the logo.
I also used markers to carefully dye this Sanguisugabogg patch to make it fully fluorescent in UV light. I'm having a lot of fun with this. It makes patches really pop and almost have a 3D effect.
I've been experimenting with different fluorescent markers on patches for my next vest, where I want all the patches to glow in UV light. I think this one came out especially sick. I used Uchida fabric markers and some Neon Sharpies, although the Sharpies have more tendency to bleed, so you got to be more careful.
Still waiting for the backpatch to come in, shipping from China is taking a while. Sewing this large Cattle Decapitation patch has been a bitch. I'm trying to keep the inner and outer pockets usable, so it's been challenging. I've broken several threads in hard to reach places in the pockets, and had to go back and reinforce broken threads. After that, the rest should be easy. Still working on the layout as well.
Going all out with the fuchsia and neon green color combo. I got this patch off Etsy from a local patch maker. Waiting on more patches to come in. The main back patch will be Gorguts- Considered Dead, a perfect match for this color combo.
Recently got this violet dyed Levi's vest(going to remove the current backpatch) since I was planning on doing an all-purple vest next. After looking online for inspiration, I saw many others already had some awesome all-purple vests. That's when I decided to pivot and do a dragon fruit/Barney colored vest instead, lol. I want to stick to lighter shades of purple and green to make it contrast better. What do you think?
Still a work in progress (need to get some patches for the other sleeve), but I recently spray painted some studs with a metallic candy blue razz color. Now if winter would come sooner so I can wear this more often, that would be cool lol. Hope you guys like it! 🤘 🥶
Been a while since I posted this project, but I've made a lot of progress. I spray painted these cone studs with Krylon candy metallic blue razz. Still need some more patches for the other sleeve, a Crossover by D.R.I patch is coming soon. I can't wait for Metallica to come to Los Angeles again so I can take this jacket to see em!
Here's another progress update for my Ride the Lightning corduroy jacket. I decided to paint some studs with candy metallic blue razz spray paint. I couldn't find any cool, blue studs online and I didn't want to go with silver studs, so I figured, why not just spray paint em blue. I also added some more patches and pins since my last post. Finally got a Left Hand Path by Entombed patch on the front, bottom left!
Still collecting patches for it, but happy with the progress so far.

I saw the photo of the AWD Porsche with a Honda engine posted today and I thought I'd share some photos of this car my dad built! My dad built the car around 12-13 years ago for a customer while working at Fibersteel in So Cal. Hand formed aluminum interior too. This thing was a blast. Just thought I'd share. Hope the customer is still around enjoying it!
I put a gold handbag chain around them too to match my vest.
Still collecting some patches and have to figure out the rest of sleeve layout. I'll also be filling in the empty spaces on the back with some gunmetal studs. Just recently got that limited edition Blue Eyes White dragon Figpin, perfect for this jacket.
Had a kick ass time and the band was incredible, my first time seeing em. The guys were all super cool and were complimenting my battle vest. Their favorite patch was my big, Somewhere in Time, Iron Maiden patch from Bloodstone Patches. Surprisingly, there were only 6 of us VIPs, but we did get a more intimate time with the band luckily. I forgot to ask them when the new album is dropping lol.
