My dads dead and everything is worse now

My dads dead and everything is worse now

Omelette it was okay, coulda used salt.

So my dad died last week, and it’s been impossibly hard for my mom and my sister and me. He’s been sick for a while, and he’s older… He was older (78), diabetic and struggling with Alzheimer’s. Came down in June with a close friend to see him had a great time, and it was really hard seeing him like that but made some great memories.

Come this month, he got a really bad infection and had to be rushed to the hospital, severe infection, couldn’t walk anymore and his blood sugar was over 450. Was hoping he’d take that time to take it easy and get better. Used the last of the money I had after traveling, ( I only work part-time) bought a commode and a wheelchair, then paid off his hospital bill with help of my mom, to get his discharged. Boom dies the same night.

Mom and sister calling me in a panic at 5am , he’s gone but they’re rushing him to the hospital he didn’t make it. Down to literally my last $5 trying to get accommodations from school, time off from work, and fundraising so I can afford to rent a suit for the funeral and get a plane ticket so I can attend and at least spend some time with my mom and sister so we can mourn together. Also tried to get a bank loan ( got denied) cuz credit card was maxed out , again medical expenses. Not really sure what to do.

EDIT: just to clarify because alot of people have mentioned it, im 25 uni studnet full time, my mom has been a fulltime house wife since 2009, and has been my dads full time care taker for the last 4 years, so she doesnt really have disposable income and my younger sister just graduated highschool and has never had a job so relying on either of them is not really an option.

if any of you are interested in my story or helping, here's my story and the proof.

Please help me see my father one last time.

Hello, you may recognize me from r/diagnoseme. This about my father’s health conditions. I apologize if I make this too wordy but I’ll try to keep it brief.

Originally this post was about helping with my dads medical expenses are he was sent to urgent care at the hospital, but he’s now passed.

I’ll let you know what was going on but all this fundraiser is for is to be able to attend his funeral and hopefully cover any additional costs when it comes to his funeral.

My father is 78 years old and was recently admitted to the hospital for a very very severe infection in his leg that was turned black and swollen and He’s lost his ability to walk.

He’s a diabetic, when they got to the hospital his blood sugar was over 450 and is infection only getting worse. This is only getting worse as he’s been declining into dementia and trying to get himself discharged from the hospital when he still is completely unable to walk. Luckily the infection is being treated and hopefully they didnt have to amputate his leg.

I am currently abroad in Canada as a full time university student, and a part time employee looking for a second job to help with funeral costs as that responsibility mainly rests in my shoulders.

Any donation and share would literally mean the world to my family, thank you.

Update on dads leg.

MAJOR UPDATE:

Before I get into I’d like to thank everyone who has been following along with me and giving good advice when it came to my father’s injuries. I’d like to really thank all of you because that push really did buy some time and save his life, so I’d like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Also he’s a relatively private person that’s why I blurred out his face.

Upon the home visit from the doctor we found out that my dad had just the tiniest bit of sensation in his foot still, but his blood sugar was over 470 so they rushed him to the hospital.

He was immediately given a temporary room and put on an IV to get his BS down, he was also severely dehydrated and over the past almost week he’s finally got his BS down to 77. And he’s gained a bit of his energy back, still unable to walk or feed himself but in better spirits.

When it comes to his leg, apparently they said the Ultrasounds came out perfect, however he does have intense bruising( from the picture above) and a very very serious infection they are trying to treat, he’s currently on antibiotics and the wound is being treated. He’s also refused to have his leg amputated no matter whether they get the infection under control or not. He’s currently still at the hospital we’re not really sure how long he’ll stay there for , but it seems like it’ll be quite a while, still can’t really move his body that much and is accumulating lots of bed sores.

LOOKING FOR ADVICE:

Just wanted to give anything thank you to everyone that has managed to prolong my fathers life as well as all those reaching out to help or check up on the situation personally I really really really do appreciate it.

I’m reaching for the stars here alittle bit now, I’m
Not promoting anything or selling anything, but I would really like some guiding advice from anyone that has been through this or could guide me through it.

Dad’s retired , but also no health insurance or life insurance. Moms been a stay at home wife and full time care taker since for over 10 years. And I’m currently in Canada aboard, full time student part time worker. Long story short I’m pretty fucked, I’ve been financially taking care of my dad for the last 4 years since he started getting really sick, medications, comfort and mobility devices ( crutches, commode’s , wheelchairs, diabetics socks and shoes, exercise machines to aid in maintaining body movement.) and now I’m completely broke, hours got cut severely at work, I got exactly $11.67 after paying for and exporting that wheelchair and commode. And I’m
Not looking forward to this upcoming medical bill and probably new medication he’ll have to be on. I’m
Looking for another job and asked for more
Hours at work. But idk if I can manage full time
School, 2 jobs and medical expenses on top of being behind on bills already. So if anything can give me anytime of advice , it would mean more than anything to
Me thank you.

Update on dads leg

1 day water , talked to my mom , she’s been putting this ointment on his leg to dry up the wound, the same one the pharmacist prescribed for when his fingers were turning black. Been begging her to take him to a doctor or the ER or atleast have his doctor friend come over to see it. He refuses to see a doctor mom said she’d got it he pharmacists in the morning.

Secondary update:

For all those telling me to call 911 and emergency services I completely agree with you, and it’s why I’ve been pushing my mom to make the call. The one and only reason I haven’t done it myself is because I don’t live in the country or even close. They are in the Caribbean right now and I’m in Canada. I’m not sure if I can even call the emergency line from abroad.

And I can’t even travel there to take care of him
Personally because I am a part time student and just spent my entire paycheck on medical expenses for him.

Third update and some clarification:

Finally convinced him to go to the doctors and get it checked.
However my dad has been sick for a very long time he can’t really do the things he used to enjoy like drawing or construction and architecture, most of his friends has passed on as well. He’s kinda just given up on life in general. He says his scared ( tells my mom won’t admit it to me) but he’s over all just given up on living. Thank you for all my advice and pushing to get medical attention. I’ll give maybe one or two last updates after he sees the doctor.
