Do you have a plan B if your job search doesn't work out?
Genuinely curious what ya'll plan to do if it doesn't work out. For me, I'm going back to college and wait it out.

Every Indian company I've worked in, strategy and product sense always takes a back seat and it's always a feature factory and focus on reducing cost. Absolutely no thought is put in to value creation, or innovative products, just how many feature we can push in next quarter. This leads to products with poor UX, bloated features that no user wants. Exhibit A: when filing income taxes, you are required to upload a JSON file. A JSON FILE. You can tell management overrode design authority and were like screw good design, let's push something fast and cheap.
Like seriously, zero thought is put in to product design and product sense by Indian companies. Why is it like this way? Discuss
This is what I don't get about reincarnation. Why does the soul have its memory wiped out between each life and reborn with all its cumulative karma? Why does the soul need to experience anything at all if everything has already been experienced? Apparently this question really triggered some religious folks so I'm now asking this on a conspiracy subreddit.
I spoke with someone outside of tech at a top 10 company on the business side for advice on how I can get out of tech. I asked what courses or certifications I should do, and guess what he said? He basically said they are a grift and he has no pressure from management to learn or keep up with the latest certifications or technology. He works standard hours and has a good work-life balance. I also asked about AI, and he laughed because he just uses it to summarize his meeting notes and emails. That's it. He's not even worried about the AI hype and thinks the only jobs it will automate are purely technical roles because the business sees it as a cost center.
At that point, it made me realize what a hellhole the tech sector really is and getting out is the best decision one can make in their career.
I'm genuinely stumped and out of options now as I've tried every hack in the book. Despite having a portfolio with proof of work, paid career coaches for resume and LinkedIn reviews, or asking for coffee chats, I still keep getting rejected. What's worse is the gaslighting by people that it's still somehow my fault when these techniques don't work, and then I get shown examples of how some people apply to 1 job and getting it without having to try so hard. And then you have the media and influencers saying you should "pursue skills that will be useful at work, not just your passions", well WTF do you think I've been doing all this time.
Edit: grammar
Had a very bad falling out with my parents the other day after I told them I rejected a job offer over I want to do my own business that recently got funding by VC firm. Kept hearing everyday how I will fail, how I am a disgrace, and how those who study hard for IIT, NEET, and IIS officer exams will surpass me in every way. Can't help but think Indians have this inbuilt immune response like resistance to starting your own business it is insane that no other culture has this
Seriously, I think people who don't report bad employers are doing others a disservice. Like how hard is it to create an app with AI where people report bad employers anonymously? And if it's in the blockchain bad employers can never remove it like they can on Glassdoor
Don't understand how so many people can be out of job? I'm seeing more people request for career readings and am at a loss as I have never seen anything like this before. I have read some astrologers consider outer planets like Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in the readings to explain this. But this is not written in jyotish texts so don't understand
I never wanted to be a business owner. I just wanted a normal job where I could collect a steady pay check. But after 12 months out of work I was forced to start a small online business last year.
Do I like it? No. The stress is insane. Going without money for months and then scraping by with the occasional windfalls that come in.
If i were to get a normal job would I take it? Yes.
But now I am running into the challenge where hiring managers fear you are too independent being a CEO at your own firm, and might gun them for their job which is not true.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely do not enjoy this "entrepreneurial" way of life or being my boss as people call it...
I am noticing a pattern and this appears to be quite common despite changing jobs.
There’s always this one manager who does nearly all the talking, including on areas owned by colleagues in the same call. And after they've rambled on for 20 mins, they only bring those people in afterward to validate what they have already said: “So Gary here who is our expert on XYZ, can cover the details and inform you if I have missed anything!”
Except Gary has nothing left to add because the manager has already covered everything. So Gary just nods, agrees, and looks like a passive contributor rather than the person responsible for the work.
What makes it worse is that we often have calls with 10 to 20 people, yet the same one or two people always dominate the entire conversation. Every single meeting. Every single week.
So how do people handle managers or colleagues like this? Doesn't seem like changing jobs is the only option because these types of people are everywhere!
