Oven Baked Chicken Schnitzel

https://www.recipetineats.com/oven-baked-chicken-schnitzel/

My days of faffing around with flour, egg and breadcrumbs are over! This is so easy and tasty.

Also, 1 whole box of Aldi panko crumbs was exactly the right amount for 2 chicken breasts (600gms - each cut into 2 schnitzels). And don’t forget to oil the rack, like I did.

I did find the breadcrumbs browned very quickly, so keep an eye on them, and only cooked them for 8mins, not the 13 recommended, because I had bashed them a bit thin.

Served with my own potato salad and carrot salad.

Recommend me a 55” TV

Sorry if this is too basic, but I need someone who knows stuff but isn’t trying to sell stuff.

I want a new 55 inch TV for my living area. The living area is very well lit (big windows to the side and lots of downlights), and adjoins the kitchen.

So I presume I need a bright screen, and because I’m often in the kitchen while it’s on (a good 6m or so from the TV), I’d like good sound quality too.

Ideally free to air channels are just there when I turn it on. I have a chrome cast stick I can put into it to cast to (and I can also plug into home internet network).

I don’t need top of the line, happy with last year’s model, and can spend money (but not ridiculous money).

Thanks!

Tension rod for curtain in wide doorway

I need to hang a curtain across a 145 cm wide doorway to create a temporary room. Ideally blackout curtains.

Will a tension rod span this width? Am I better off buying an “all in one” tension rod that screws out to the width, or buying poles and using a spring fitting like the one pictured?

Thanks for your advice.

Whose mark is this?

Cleaning out my parents’ home, and have come across this small glazed vase. The mark at the bottom seems to say CheSter IV. Does anyone know who the artist might be?

Seeking kitchen layout ideas

This might be a pipe dream so we can ignore budget at the moment - whether or not I redo the kitchen will depend very much on whether there’s a better way of doing it!

(At the same time, if ideas could incorporate the present location of Plumbing that would obviously help with the budget. Electrical power is available on each side of the room, and the floor is wood, on stumps, so there’s a bit of wriggle room for rerouting things under there.)

This is my old house with an extension at the rear. The old and new sections have different flooring - wood in the old section (light Brown on the floor plan) and slate look tiles in the new section (shown in Grey on the floor plan).

The kitchen is in the middle of the house and has been opened up to the casual meals area by way of a half wall, marked in Red. (The blue “P“ in the plan with the kitchen dimensions indicates where the Plumbing comes to/goes from.)

I’d love to see some ideas for an alternate layout of the kitchen, even if it means demolishing the half wall. However, I’d like to keep the other doorways where they are.

I’d like a sink, dishwasher, cook top, wall oven, fridge and pantry. What would you do?

PIMS - play and information mobile service, Child Development Centre in West Perth

Does anyone know the successor to the Play and Information Mobile Service of the Child Development Centre?

Cleaning out a deceased estate and have found a number of pamphlets produced by them on early childhood education, from the early 1980s.

Conscious that this sort of ephemera is easily lost, wondering if there is anywhere with an archive that would like it.

Help me lay out a functional kitchen

I have an old house with a not very functional kitchen at the moment. Once all cupboards and appliances are stripped out, the dimensions of the room as shown in the plan.

The red wall is a half wall i.e. a servery from the kitchen through to the casual dining. This wall can go if necessary. All other walls must remain where they are as they are loadbearing.

The blue “P” indicates the present location of water / plumbing. I prefer not to move that too far.

I’d like a cooktop, a wall oven, a sink, a dishwasher, a full size fridge and a pantry.

Show me your best ideas, please.

Does anyone remember the era of the adoption of Tree Preservation Orders in the 1970s?

Eg Lane Cove Council’s original Tree Preservation Order (TPO) for private property was introduced in 1973. I know these controls are now managed under the State Environmental Planning Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation) 2021.

Western Australia is just getting to around to introducing similar control/rules/policies for tree preservation, and people are losing their minds. They regard it as an attack on private property rights etc. (In W.A., if you can’t dig it up and sell it to a foreign company, it doesn’t seem to rate.)

I was curious as to what the reception of TPOs was like “back in the day.”
