Tricky Situation. Alzheimer’s and Divorce.

Hello. I am attempting to help my mom navigate a tricky situation. She is in the diagnosis process for Alzheimer’s. She’s 68, and she’s extremely intelligent. She’s been having trouble with directions, remembering dates/times, amongst other things that were red flags. She’s still very good conversationally and I doubt most people would notice anything was wrong unless they knew her very well.

She’s married and has been for a while. It’s a second marriage. She worked her whole life at a high paying job and made her own money and can fully support herself. Her husband also has his own money. For quite some time they have not been getting along. He is a difficult person and I truly don’t blame her for wanting a divorce. He’s always been kind to me and my family but he’s very verbally abusive towards her. He has used her memory problems as a weapon against her and ridicules her. It breaks my heart to see her treated this way. She wants a divorce and I do support that choice but I’m also so worried about all the stress it will cause her. At the same time, this marriage is causing her massive stress every day of her life. Does anyone have experience with a divorce in the midst of Alzheimer’s ? I am looking for any advice. Thank you.

( just wanted to add that myself and my brother live minutes away from her and would legit do anything for that woman so she has support locally )

How to disassociate

As a child I was very good at disassociating from tough circumstances and able to enjoy myself despite my surroundings. I think many children have a natural ability for this. I now find myself in an increasingly difficult and sad set of circumstances. Thinking about them only makes it harder. Does anyone have tips for just training their brain to forget what is going on around them or just enjoy the tiny moments that are ok without thinking about everything else going on. I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I let dad have the day off

I (35F) let my husband (36m) have the day off to go hang with his dad who is in town ( a rare event) so they could go windsurfing together. Nothing bad happened. There’s nothing actually wrong, but I’ve been solo parenting an infant, a hyperverbal 6 year old with adhd ( they’ve honestly been really well behaved today) and a 2 year old Golden retriever who is about to lose his mind because our yard is shut down for construction projects right now. Like damn I am tired!!! Moms with more than two kids who do this everyday. I salute you!!!!!

Help! What is wrong with our girl?

Update: she has died 😞.

We have 8 chickens, this morning this chicken was totally limp and barely awake. I noticed some grass stuck in her behind, and pulled it out. It seems like she is trying to get something out perhaps. Anything we can do? Seems pretty sick.

Has anyone brought an infant ( with noise cancelling headphones) to the show?

I know people have strong feelings on this, but we have tickets to her 6/29 show at the Kia Forum and we don’t have another option but to bring our 5 month old because she refuses a bottle. We bought ticket before we knew she was never going to take a bottle. Has anyone brought an infant with headphones to the show, and if so, how did it go? I might just end up selling my ticket.
