We were kinda close to Red x Stella before someone at Rovio pivoted the idea to cut her as one of the mains...

Thoughts on Angry Birds Movie 2? Since the third movie is split mixed in the community, I think we all owe an apology to the second movie.

Now that Smash Ultimate modding has evolved from shitpost skins to fully fledged custom characters with actual movesets, it's so nice to see an actual Rayman character mod that isn't a skin. And bonus points with the BEST model.

Okay, so what's the point of the Sega Rovio acquisition if Rovio is still pulling the same old bad "corporate" business practices with 4 times "AI Slop" and doing the bare minimum with Angry Birds? Shouldn't Sega try to get Rovio to get their bs together to make Angry Birds good???

Uh… can anyone fill me in on the context on the Kuwakujo Main Quest fiasco???

There’s been a huge shitstorm last night that was nothing but a nothingness pointless nonsense on the cheating allegations.

But please fill me in and explain to me Out of the Loop on what happened at night when Kuwakujo’s Main Quest was solved.

Once again, be extremely lucky that Thomas isn’t under Hasbro. Mattel isn’t perfect by any means, but at least they’ve been able to do good will with Thomas.

Seeing the current state of Hasbro rn rubs me the wrong way, given the recent news of HOW they’re handling their IPs and Peppa…

Ericgl1996'a Mario & Luigi archive art dumps (archive part 2)

This is for archival purposes due to Eric deactivating their DA account for unknown, as I probably will do a per-day archival series on Ericgl's art stuff, but... still the same old MA paint amateur mediocrity since 2012...

TIL, never underestimate the hyperfixation art series between “Simple Cover Arts” and “Infected Corruptions”. I respect the dedication between these two series.

Art credit by RabbitBordom (the person behind the Mario & Luigi Cover Art Crossover series) and Jonathon Kennedy/Jonathon76257883 (the other person doing a VERY long Pibby Corruption Art Thread in Twitter)

At this point, I’m intrigued of how people could be sane enough to develop a passion decision to pursue this level of hobby.

Found this Mario & Luigi 'RPG 6' fan concept by the 'infamous' Ericgl1996 guy, which has material art, but it's very mid-mediocre-average MS Paint drawings that have the most BAFFLING designs out there with a 'Madoka and Homura' look-a-like knock offs...

There's a big stash I'm archiving from the Ericgl guy. This stash was his Mario & Luigi fan concept before Brothership (2021-2024), and I will try to archive them asap (since his DA account was just recently deactivated), but boy oh boy... I hate to say this, but these are the most mid-average drawings that are drawn in MS Paint...

I'm not criticizing the artist, but I've seen people do far more talented work using other art programs and even MS Paint, and the drawings shown here by Eric look plain and boring, but at least it's not AI-generated.

HOWEVER, Ericgl from DeviantArt is notorious for being a nutshack in the Pokémon community over his behavior issues that were documented (no, seriously, it's not deep, but from what I've read, it's just pure pettiness, opinions on DA fashion, and... has the most bizarre Pokémon designs that don't fit the Pokémon brand at all). I wanna just bring awareness to Ericgl because while he's super niche on DeviantArt, he has behavior issues that are basically what I can expect from a 2010s era, to not lash out at people's opinions over a subject.

It's not to call him out, but just a cautionary tale to not spend your time too much time online and at least just... touch grass. Sure, he does have talent, but in a typical deviantart fashion, but I'm... baffled to say that his artwork hasn't improved since 2012 for using MS Paint... So if you have a hobby for art, you do have to improve your style and keep drawing and experimenting moving forward, rather than being stuck on outdated methods.

Too bad I was admitily was liking Ericgl's stuff on his Mario & Luigi fan concept before the post on him painted a sour picture of how he acts online... oh well... At least we have Brothership.

So... Does the "Mario & Luigi" series deserves the "Western Style" Covers back or stick to the "Japanese Minimal Style" moving forward?

Since I don’t think it’s known, many of you guys have known Masanori Sato for doing the Promo Art of many Nintendo games in the late 90s and Early-Mid 2000s, and yes, including the first two Mario & Luigi games, Superstar and Partners.

In fact, he’s done uncredited artwork for the SuperStar Saga 3DS remake for the promo art. This is further supported by the fact that he was the sole illustrator of the original game, and that the remake is the only title in the series that completely lacks the "Illustration" credit.

And as it turns out, Sato left Nintendo around 2007 to become a freelancer in his art career (sounds familiar, relating to Smash Bros?), with his last contribution to his work with Nintendo being Golden Sun: Dark Dawn in 2010. There’s an interview for him explaining his love and passion for art, the process of drawing, and general stuff, but nothing related to his work on Nintendo, sadly, presumably because of NDA reasons.

This could be the reason why Nintendo shifted gears to ditch the Western style approach and forever favor only with the Japanese cover style (which originaited from the very first game, Superstar Saga in Japan), starting with BIS in the west apparently, as they do have in-house artists for emulating Sato’s ‘Mario & Luigi’ art-style within the Mario & Luigi series, up until Brothership started adapting renders.

And it's funny to see how hard people have turned on this at first...

Because I remembered when the US art for BiS was revealed to be the same as its Japanese counterpart, tons of people loved it and were happy they were finally adopting the Japanese cover style. But when Dream Team kept this tradition moving forward in later entries, everyone wanted the SS/PiT covers back (with the Superstar 3DS remake having it, only in Europe of all places...).

I know a certain someone actually utilized the Japanese Box Art a lot in a good honoring way, that's a niche crossover series btw, which is funny to see what kind of dynamics Mario and Luigi are teaming up with (and I blame Paper Jam for it in a humorous way).

Is FromSoftware Safe Amid Kadokawa’s Shareholder Conflict?

https://www.invenglobal.com/articles/22774/is-fromsoftware-safe-amid-kadokawas-shareholder-conflict-president-miyazaki-speaks-out

The titling is ominous at first, but it's from what people are saying, but I've found and read the article from the gaming sub, which has the awful clickbaity nonsense that got people misled about the "Gacha Games" part, but here's the gist of the Kadokawa thing:

The major issue Oasis seems to have with Kadokawa is their publishing strategy, namely the use of 3rd party publishers which they believe could be avoided. Nothing about their comments really seems to be a direct attack on FromSoftware’s creativity from what is presented in the article. It could definitely be extrapolated through a few layers of logic that by using these publishers they are insulated from risk, which allows them the comfort to be a bit more creative, but they aren’t directly telling them to “make safer games”.

There is no mention of pressure on FROM to make safer games from Oasis, the main thing is Kadokawa wants to self-publish as an independent, and the article actually has Miyazaki saying they’re still free to express their creativity.

Regardless, I fully expect Sony (as I know people were put off at first, but rather have a Japanese company buy them), Kadokawa themselves (they kinda already have with the CEO situation) or someone in the boards at Kadokawa to tell Oasis to fuck off and let them be independent.

Oasis may be the top shareholders, but they only own 14%, and the board rejected their proposal.

Fromsoft is doing fine, at least for now...

I know Mattel is also joining in that similar AI slop trend bs, but honestly… I’m so glad Thomas isn’t under Hasbro… Even when Mattel is flawed to it’s competitor.

TIL, Masanori Sato, known for creating promotional artwork and providing graphic support for a large number of Nintendo games, including the first two M&L games, left Nintendo in 2007 to pursue on freelance, which could explain the M&L series box art migration to it’s Japanese cover style with BIS.

Since I don’t think it’s known, but many of you guys have known Masanori Sato for doing the Promo Art of many various Nintendo games, and yes, including the first two Mario & Luigi games being Superstar and Partners.

Now who will be perfect for the COD Zombies rep for Smash Bros, with a character moveset, stage, and miscellaneous?

The perfect question is Richtofen (both Primis & Ultimis versions), but actually, I think the stable rep would be the general zombie enemy (like Piranha Plant for example as a shitpost).
