In defense of Emma Frost’s characterization in X-Men 97
As a fan of Emma Frost, I’ve definitely seen the negative reactions to her portrayal in the latest season of X-Men ’97. That said, I think a lot of the criticism has been somewhat overblown.
I completely understand why some of Beau’s comments about the character have rubbed people the wrong way, but for the most part Emma has been portrayed in a way that feels consistent with the version of the character introduced in the original series.
Emma in the OG series was very much a villain working alongside the Hellfire Club, and her eventual transition into a hero was always going to require time and development. With such a large cast and limited screen time, laying the proper foundation for that evolution may simply take longer than some fans are comfortable with.
At the end of the day, I don’t think there’s much reason to worry about Emma remaining a villain permanently. She will inevitably become an X-Man. It’s really just a question of when. It could happen this season or the next, but Emma is simply too popular and too important a character to remain a minor antagonist in this show.

if this is true, what do you all think is next for Emma?
Me personally, I would love to see another writer handle Emma, I think Eve has been very hit-or-miss with Emma's voice throughout this era, and I would also just like to see her interacting with new characters.
