Do babies/ infants/toddlers need a designated, closed room?

I am 26 weeks pregnant with my first child now and my home has an open office room that we were planning to convert to a nursery. We got quotes from a few contractors to close off the room with a small wall and door (and change electricity and fire alarms), and it’s a bit more than we anticipated ($3,800). So I was wondering, is it essential for babies/infants/toddlers to have a designated, closed space? Is this amount of money worth the privacy and peace of mind?

Got an extremely well-maintained, one owner 2020 Forester Premium with 43,000 miles for about $20,000. The condition is immaculate and it’s been only maintained at the dealership. Didn’t mean to buy it when I did but I test drove it and loved it. Also it being 5pm on the last day of the month, the sales person was ready to make a deal.

Similar prices. Forester has about 43,000 and the shortage has about 25,000 miles. Obviously not he sportage will have more modern features, but the forester is a premium so it has a lot of the same, just older. Have a baby on the way and need a bigger, reliable car.
