Is there a way to send a secure message instead of having to call with a question?

Got a new job and had a complex question regarding mega backdoor roth. The kind of question I would prefer to type out... But I guess it is what it is if they don't offer online support..

Am I doing Mega backdoor correctly with Vanguard?

I started a new job and the employer said they offer mega backdoor ROTH. But the HR person who told me that was young and I wasn't sure they understood what MBR is . Here are the options I see on my Vanguard profile. I assume I contribute to "Employee after-tax"? How do I specify that the money gets "recharacterized" at the end of the year?

I've already maxed the pretax with my previous employer ( from Jan 1 -> Aug 1 ). But they did not offer any MBR.. So now looking to hit my annual IRS limit by doing the MBR

Anyone else create different accounts for each of their hobbies?

I have a bunch of music and sports hobbies . Instead of spamming my personal account with videos of these hobbies , I created a separate account for each. For example I made one to just post my guitar videos ( around one a day or two ). Idea is that friend who care about my guitar can follow it. Those that don't care, will never see my guitar videos.

But using this guitar account should I be following the same friends back? Or just follow other guitar related accounts?

Why is this not considered a high deductible health plan?

My employer offers no HSA presumably because this plan is not HDHP. Seems it should be based on the annual deductible amounts no?

Since they only offer an FSA, is it worth getting that? Or is it more a gimmick?

Should I keep "liking" friend's post on social media when they never like anything I post?

My nature is to support anyone who puts themselves out there. I won't like everything someone posts, but I will add consistent likes over time. But I feel awkward when such people NEVER like anything I post. Makes me feel a bit creepy. But if I ignore seeing their post then I feel just as bad as what they are doing... Thoughts?

How does retirement + divorce at age 50 work when spouse earns more than me?

We've been married 11 years but separated for past 5. One kid 10 years old. Spouse lives in her own house which she rents. I live in the house we bought together 9 years ago . The house is in both our names. I paid for it in cash with 90% my money, 10% hers.

For past 5 years she has outearned me by around 100k. If I retire at age 50 what would happen if we get divorced? She keeps saying if I want to retire, we have to get divorced and split finances. Because she does not want to "support me" in her words...

How to politely tell my boss to stop being such a "Yes Man"?

I work in R&D and my boss comes from a culture of "Yes Man". Any request from a higher up is accepted and made into an emergency. Even if the request is dumb he will never push back or question it. He also doesn't let me directly reach out to. the higher ups for clarification. Seems he is obsessed about "not losing face" and appearing like we don't know what we are doing.

I want to tell him that this way of working is actually damaging his credibility. At least I would not trust someone who blindly agrees to everything I ask . I am reminded of a quote someone told me , " A true professional is one who does their best to convince you that you don't need their services "....

I get they will likely never change and it's easiest for me just to keep looking for another job..

Seems I am getting lots of downvotes from similar kind of "Yes man" bosses. They claim that's the way of the corporate world.. Let me ask this then: Which mechanic would you trust more to change your oil:

  1. The mechanic who says you can just do it yourself and shows you how

  2. The mechanic who agrees to whatever oil you tell him to put in even if he knows it is bad for the engine

Am I hurting my social life by not indulging in social media cringe?

Should I be making frequent posts about anything that happens in my life? Should I be commenting and reacting to other friend's post? Should I be reposting friend's reels and photos?

I feel like most people do this and I feel the odd one out for not doing any of that. I don't want to seem anti-social...

What is a "healthy" amount of social media usage? I try and post stuff on instagram once or twice a month . Usually travel photos, videos of my hobbies, kids accomplishments.. I try and do a good job with the posts, i.e nice quality photos, witty captions, etc.. Try and hit above the mark. But I still can't compete with the videos/photos people see doom scrolling.. So that is why I wonder if it is worth it to post if you can't truly stand out...

Does stressing out about presentations after-hours count towards your 40 hrs/ week?

I will stress about it after hours and randomly on weekends. Part of the stress motivates me to make sure I have a complete story to present. But this after-work hour worrying is annoying. I can't turn it off when I leave the office.

A part of me feels like this should count towards my 40 hrs/week ?!

And yes I have done Toastmasters and all that jazz. It still doesn't make it easy :-(

Am I hurting my career by not indulging in the LinkedIn cringe?

Should I be making frequent posts about anything that happens in my career? Should I be commenting and reacting to other people's post from my network? Should I be sharing job postings from people in my network?

I feel like most people do this and I feel the odd one out for not doing any of that. I don't want to seem anti-social or a bad "team player"...

Two female coworkers spend most of the day yapping , gossiping and whispering to each other

In an open office environment and my desk is sadly next to them. All day long they engage in annoying conversation. Sometimes they start whispering which is more annoying because my ears think it might be about me ( probably not ).

Then they frequently have male colleagues come by and chat for long periods of time. In what world do they think this is appropriate behavior?

Is it acceptable to look "unpresentable" when working from home?

I WFH and notice other colleagues who WHF put minimal effort in their appearance. Often looking like they just got out of bed ( hair uncombed, face unshaven etc. ) The same colleagues when going to the office never would look like that. Why the double standard? Hate to say it, but I will judge them a bit negatively if they do this..

Is it unprofessional for man to work from home and not shave?

Maybe just me but I find it rather unsightly to see a few days stubble on someone.

I'll judge them as either lazy or someone who doesn't talk to anyone on video all day.

Sometimes it's just me and another female co-worker in the office. Kind of weird the whole day goes by and we just work in silence. Is this the correct approach? I feel if I initiate some chit chat I will be seen as creepy. But now I feel weird for just ignoring her.. Thoughts?

I know the paper ticket pass says "non-transferable", but it has nothing personally identifiable on it. Only thing it has is the last 4 digits of the credit card used to pay for it. Nowhere does it say you have to have that on you for the pass to be valid.

So what's the point of making an un-enforceable rule? Just scare tactic, I presume?
