more specifically, what work from home job could a 40 year old scientist do? my mother can't find a job where we currently live because she doesn't speak the language here. she used to work with mice while she was an active scientist but she hasn't worked in years since she had to take care of my siblings. she's tried a lot of different jobs (I think they're called entrepreneurial?) like selling digital designs, which only gave lunch money, and she's applied for some jobs but they didn't accept her. my father is the only one working. I would try get a job if i could but here you're not allowed to work if you're under 18. and it's hard to actually land a from home job since everybody wants to do it. we've been looking at jobs like a subtitle typer, audiobook reader, etc but even those need skills that my mother probably doesn't have (she's applied for typer, they said she doesn't type fast enough?) please help with suggestions. if you're going to be realistic about her choices i don't want to hear it. people on reddit need to dream a little, even when it comes to jobs.

I was at the beach the other day swimming and I stayed in the shallow part because I saw a big fish and got scared, so I was just looking underwater when I saw an octopus!? it was at the bottom of the water on the ground rocks just going about. it was so shallow it almost was out of the water. it was morning/daytime btw.. and it was a small octopus too. super cool but very confusing

it's always NBA or football players that get paid heaps, even though most of them are literally nothing special (don't take this the wrong way) and sprinters do arguably the same amount of work. how are you supposed to work a second job and fit in training twice a day? I know it's about the love of the game (and some of the glory) but if I'm going to use all my time training then I'd at least expect to get paid a bit more to at least be comfortable. how do you even get brand contracts

I'm generally fast at running, it's mainly from genetics, I can beat pretty much anyone I meet if challenged to a race but I'm very scared. what if im genuinely not fast enough? my father says I'm quite fast, since I'm as fast as he was at my age and he was considered fast (he also won regionals and got 2nd place in nationals) and with training I could be even faster. but im scared that even with proper training, the next levels will still simply be too fast. do I need a reality check if i think i can become a good sprinter?

I used to watch a show that I adored when I was younger. It had animals that kinda looked like possums but stood upright and were different colours like pink, blue, etc. they each had a number on their stomachs and i think they had wings, or maybe only some of them had wings. i thought they were called numberoos but i couldn't find any show called that. i don't remember exactly what they did in the show but i know I loved it. i distinctly remember my favourite character to have the number 4 on her stomach, she had wings and i think she was pink and yellow.

at first I was bisexual, then for whatever reason I thought lesbians were cooler than bisexuals so I did some research and even downloaded the lesbian masterdoc and to my surprise I was a lesbian. but the questioning has never left me. I've had some boy crushes in the last i think, but what confuses me the most is crushes themselves. I don't know how to tell if something is a crush or not. there has only been one instance where I think it was definitely a crush (wlw), but it left. I'm 99% sure I'm a Sapphic of some sort but I'm just not sure about guys. I don't know how to tell if I have a crush on a guy or not. sometimes I see guys and I'm like omfg he's good looking but the thought of doing anything with a man or even seeing a man naked disgusts me in a way. but idk if I'm just asexual towards men, or if I like men aesthetically (I'm not even sure what that means). I'm pretty sure I'm a lesbian though since I've read the lesbian masterdoc and I'm very sure that I'm a lesbian. or a Sapphic at least. help

my male cat (not neutered) has been getting quite aggressive lately. he just scratches and claws and bites sometimes. there have been new cats coming to the house (we feed them) that he doesn't like, so it may be territorial, but then even when he's not anywhere near another cat he's aggressive. we have this balcony that he goes on, and he can see us inside the house (from a clear door) and we can see him and sometimes we feed him because he meows. a couple days ago my brother went out there to look at something and the cat was there. the cat was meowing asking for food and when he didn't get it he was angry. he literally attacked my brother and bit his leg and scratched him. my brother is now scared of the cat. anyways today he was on the balcony and i was trying to give him a de worming tablet, but since it was small he was having trouble finding it. i was trying to show it to him and give it to him but he kept not finding it or knocking it out of my hand (it might have been a fault on my part too) and then he got angry and attacked me. he grabbed my hand and scratched me and was literally gnawing on my hand. thankfully in the end he found the pill, but he literally punctured my hand and my hand is covered in bandaids. i think he just expects food when he's on the balcony, and if we are there with him and dont give him anything he doesnt like it at all. i thought he would be calmer there since he has no other cats around and he wouldnt have to be territorial. i know cats are sometimes playfully aggressive but this is genuine aggression with intent to hurt. none of my cats are like this and so far ive had 6 cats. i dont know what to do. do we need to neuter him?
