All the benefits of Alpinestars without the downsides pf Alpinestars
My race GP Pro RS3's just had stitching fail for the 4th time from daily commuting, not even crashing, so finally throwing them up as "spares" that I'll hopefully never need at the track. Been using Alpinestars race gloves for almost 20 years and they've been fantastic up until after Covid and I've never had so many warranty claims and repair work done to gloves before in my life. Finally decided to bite the bullet and go with some Racer gloves after reading some crash reviews. Was hesitant because they are STG's house brand now and made in China, but for the price, worth a gamble.
STG said they fit the same as A* so went with the same size I typically run, and it was close. Right out of the bag they fit almost identical to broken in A* GP Pros, but the wrist opening isn't made for a child's wrist and way easier to get into. If you remember how A* used to fit and feel in the early 2000's, these are almost exactly like that.
Have not had a chance to test them on track yet, but using them for a few days breaking in getting ready for the track, I'm extremely happy with them. The fingers are super taxtile, nothing is overly stiff or bulky, just good quality gloves. Wrist protection is a little less than the RS3's, with only a CE1 rating, compared to A*'s CE2 rating, but how good is a rating really when the stitching of a glove tears all the time without a crash?
At $280USD, damn worth a look at the Racer Hi-Speeds if you're wanting the same familiar fit and feel to how A* used to be.
Edit: Yes, I know suck at spelling.
