Roller shades for large sliding glass doors - Black or White

Hello - new build home with 20' sliding glass door. It's gorgeous! We are getting ready to add roller shades and I'm not sure if I should go with Black roller shades or White roller shades.

I'm leaning towards the white! What do you think?

Also - ignore those dark leather sofas. My husband is so attached to them and won't let me get anything different :-( I find them less-than-cozy in our main space, but he cannot be reasoned with! ha!

At what point do you speak to your Boss' Boss?

I had a situation fairly recently where my direct supervisor was extremely critical of my work - to the point it was pretty obvious that she was Quiet Firing me. For background, We had both been hired around the same time and she was promoted to a Director position - and after the promotion, it felt like she was very clearly trying to ensure that we were no longer "friends" but she was now my Superior.

I'm not expecting special treatment, but I also didn't anticipate that her entire tone would change toward me. I had always been a very high-performer and now she was extremely critical of anything that went wrong.

I also felt I was being penalized because I was always in the field doing the work - and I think sometimes the more work you do - there's just bound to be more things that go wrong. So people who were in the field less and performed less were under less scrutiny. Basically, if I had been more of a slacker I could have flown below the radar - but because I was in the field a lot - if things went wrong (even slightly) it seemed like she took the opportunity to make it into a big hairy deal and spotlight the flaws.

It got to the point where I was actually feeling bullied and she went so far that she was putting last minute meetings on my calendar - and if I was unable to make the meeting - she would put PTO on my timecard saying I was not able to make the meeting and therefore I was taking PTO.

At what point do I go up the chain of command on this? I really think she had it out for me.

What ended up happening is that I took a paycut to get out of her leadership, but it feels like I paid the price for her poor leadership. It felt frustrating that my efforts to do well were actually being penalized. I also know that she was talking to my team mates about my "poor performance" and damaging my professional reputation. i don't know what I did to tick her off - but obviously she had an issue with me personally.

It's something I'm still coming to terms with - because I had a job I loved and I feel like the rug was pulled out just because my boss somehow didn't like me.

At what point do you report the behavior to HR or to her leadership?

Research nurse practitioner

Hello - I have an opportunity to take a Research NP role - hours are good, pay is better than I’m making now. Some rotating weekends.

Seems like a good place to land!

I am coming from the inpatient world and would love to have a less stressful role - but will I be taking a step backwards clinically?

Any NPs in the Research world that have found Research to be an excellent landing spot? I want to invest my time and energy in efforts that will help me grow and also allow for a good paycheck and lifestyle while being clinically challenged.

I’d really love to find my “forever job” but I know that’s hard to do these days!!!

I’d love to connect with other Research NPs to see if this is a good option for me. Better pay and better hours is extremely appealing - but is it boredom and paperwork and politics - or actually a good career move?

Sub investigator role - NP

I recently had an interview with a large CRO for sub investigator NP. In truth - I wasn’t all that serious about the role or too excited about it - but the interview went well and the team and hours seem quite manageable! Would definitely be a better work-life balance than my current scenario.

I’m wondering though - is this an awesome opportunity? Would I enjoy being a sub-I? I would be at the clinic 5 days per week. It seems like the workload is manageable - anyone with sub-I experience that could speak to job satisfaction?

Is becoming a sub I and good stepping stone to higher pay and more career opportunities?

The research world is one that I have some experience in (I was involved on the periphery of some research when I worked as a clinical specialist). But I’ve never delved too deeply into clinical research.

Is the role boring? Is it stressful? My background is nursing and inpatient NP.

I need to use an app or something visual to show my vision

Hello - could you help me find some sort of app of way to draw out my backyard vision in 2D with online graph paper - so that I can make it within scale? I can't seem to get my vision out of my head and onto a descriptive media. How can I most easily do this?

Clinical educator role with Mindray

I have a nursing background - critical care and ER.

I am currently in the industry space as a clinical educator (hospital beds)

Thinking of switching over to Mindray as it would play into my critical care background better (I have solid cardiac rhythm experience)

It would be a lateral move in terms of pay, travel, title.

I’m wondering if it would open more doors for me though? Like 2 years on hospital beds as an educator vs 2 years as an educator on patient monitoring systems - does that position me better for future industry roles like implementation and project management?

Would like to try Oncology

Hello! I am a nurse practitioner with ONE year experience in inpatient rounding (cardiology). I am interested in Oncology (prefer to work outpatient) and I'd like to know if Oncology NPs are satisfied in the role? I think I have the heart for it - but I have NO oncology experience as a nurse. Will I even be able to get an interview with ZERO oncology experience? My background is entirely ER nursing.

Worth chasing? Or should I abandon? how can I find a pathway into Oncology NP? And will i like it when I get there???

Sertraline helps

If I take a 50mg sertraline and snap it in half - and take it in the AM with a cup of coffee … things start moving!

Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm thinking of going to Tijuana for outer thigh liposuction

My friend went to Tijuana - and she had a good experience. I'm just worried because Tijuana has a bad/dangerous reputation! Has anyone been brave enough to get plastic surgery in Tijuana Mexico? Any feedback or advice?

Getting married in October in Las Vegas - Nelson Ghost town. Chapel has a dusty floor. I'm 5'4" 130# - 48 year old female, 2nd marriage. 20 guests.

I just want a simple white dress - nothing crazy! Would it be weird if I just get a white bridesmaid dress from Azazie?

I've been away from my old job and away from my old boss (the Chief Nitpick Officer) over a year now.

Here is what I'm learning.

I believe that I paid tuition for a skillset that many people never develop.

It is a skillset I am still working on - but I am finding my internal anchor. My anchor that realizes that I set the pace. That I decide how fast and in what direction a conversation moves. That I can use strategic questioning for tempo control.

Best questions to use to control tempo with a bully:

- Can you clarify what you mean by that?

- What specifically are you referring to?

- Can you help me understand where that feedback is coming from?

- Can you walk me through how you came to that conclusion?

The goal is to slow the tempo, create clarity, regain control.

And my final takeaway?

She can still go f* herself.
