Is ford employee pricing really that good?
Im in the market for a Brinco, and I’m wondering if the Ford employee pricing is a good deal. I noticed the interest on financing a Bronco went up to 5.49% during Ford employee pricing, up from 1.99% before the event. Is that how they get you? Is there any negotiating beyond the employee savings? And finally, are there any other times of the year that are better to buy a truck? Thanks in advance.
MCP brake questions
This is my first time installing hydraulic breaks. I think I’ve got all the air out, and my gaps seem nice. But I have a few questions.
Is a small amount of fluid supposed to escape the piston on the break box? I’ve got a bit of fluid on the bottom of the unit.
Can you put too much fluid in the system? Is that what’s causing the small leak?
How big should the gaps between the pads and rotor be?
Also, has anyone fabricated their own pedals? These Chinesium things bend pretty easily…
My trucks radiator fan won’t shut off. 2015 F150 eco boost
A fan in the engine compartment, I’m pretty sure it’s the rad, won’t stop running after the truck is off. Not only that, it’s going full speed and louder than I’ve ever heard it.
I disconnected the battery for the night.
Go-kart
When idling, is this amount of engagement normal on a 40 series?
Ripped out the shock tower. Now what?
So after everyone warned me about the extreme A-arm angles destroying the heim joints, I decided to cut out the shock tower and do it right. I’ve been watching videos and reading up on it, but I’m still clueless.
Do either of these mock ups look decent? Any suggestions now that I’ve committed to fixing the shocks?
Or if anyone has a YouTube suggestion please let me know.
Do I raise the engine, rotate the mounting plate, or leave it as is?
I’m fitting up my engine, trying to figure where to put the mounting plate and I’m wondering what’s best practice regarding the length and orientation of the chain.
As it sits, there’s 2” between the sprocket and the chain will be short. Or do I rotate the cvt mounting plate to get some distance between the two? Or do I raise the engine a bit?
I’m leaning towards leaving it be, or rotating the mounting plate 90* counter clockwise. Any suggestions?
Steering update
Here’s an update on the steering from a few days ago. I think I’ve got things looking pretty good. Tomorrow I’ll hook up the tie rods and I’ll be able to see how she turns.
Also, I remember seeing a tip where you put lock washers somewhere on the spindles to help them move better. Do they go between the bolt/nut and heim joint? Has anyone tried this?
What battery is best for 420 engine on go-kart?
I need help picking a battery for a 420cc horizontal shaft engine that will be on a go-kart. Will need the battery to start the engine, and run some headlights. The go-kart will be running for a few hours at a time and it would be nice to have headlights for that time.
The manual says 12V DC 18ah, but what’s the best for my application?
What’s the best position for my rack and pinion?
I know nothing of steering geometry. How far forward should this go?
How’s she look?
There’s still some fabrication and installation of the engine, brakes, gas, etc to do. But I couldn’t resist putting the wheels on to see how she looks.
My spindle isn’t long enough to use the bushing and still have enough thread for the nut
I got my tires, rim, hubs, spindles, and bushings as a kit. But they don’t seem to fit quite right. Can I trim the bushing a bit? Or do I need a longer spindle? There’s going to be about 1/2” between the spindle control part and the rim if I trim it. Also, are these super thin bushings supposed to go into the spindles? Thanks in advance
What else can I make with the standard knife making set up?
I’m just wondering what else ya’ll are making with your amateur set ups? I have a two burner, 12” long Amazon forge, all of the hand and power tools for stock removal, welder, anvil, etc…
Is anyone doing anything different like art? Or making other tools? Bottle openers? Slim Jim’s? Wrought iron fire pokers? Key chains?
Basically, I’m hoping to find ways to use the equipment for students who might not want to make knives. Any ideas?
I’ve got two stop collars rusted on an axel. The set screws are out, there is no key, and I’ve been hitting it with WD-40 for a couple days with no luck. Today I mixed up some ATF and acetone to hopefully penetrate the rust over night. Everything spins and I can even move the flange, but can’t get the axel to move laterally. Next I’m going to give it some heat I guess.
Any suggestions??
