This past Saturday was a special fundraiser & memorial event at the SaveAFox Rescue in Fairibault, Minnesota
The founder Mikayla Raines, who dedicated her life to rescuing foxes from fur farms to give them a fuller and happier life, passed away one year ago in part due to online bullying. This event was to honor her and raise funds for the nonprofit.
Her husband continues Mikayla's work to care for these beautiful animals and bring awareness to the plight of the animals that are raised in fur farms.
Suicide is something that hits close to home as I lost my own younger sister (only sister) 10 years ago. So the cause was one I wanted to support for both reasons.
I donated 3 small terrarium scenes featuring tiny foxes in action, one of which was won in the silent auction by my tiniest fan.
Please visit SaveAFox and consider donating if you can.
I live in a townhome so all my gardening has to be in containers. This is my mini deck bog showing its Spring colors. I’ve had it for about 6 years, overwinter in my unheated garage (Minnesota winters are brutal but it’s survived).
Edit: video quality is horrible, does it look all bleached out to everyone else? I swear it wasn’t like that on my phone lol
This mini pond is about 30” wide and 20” deep. I went plant shopping yesterday totally NOT looking for a pond plant and then fell in love with this water lily. I’m wondering if I can make it fit or if this will end up like the step sister in Cinderella trying to make the glass slipper fit 😂
Is it ok if some of the leaves are partially out of water? Or do I need to start planning a bigger pond?
Someone posted this in a terrarium group and I am convinced it’s some sort of slime mold, but alllllll the other people are saying it’s “rust”. Now I could be wrong, I’m no expert in molds. But this just doesn’t look like a harmful mold to me. It’s literally doing zero damage to the surfaces and is even on the aerial roots. This person in particular is arguing with my slime mold diagnosis and I want to be right hahaha. Seriously though, even if I got the wrong ID, tell me this isn’t “rust”.
My starting weight was 230 in mid February, and I’m down to 213 on .25. I’ve stalled out for the last 4 weeks though so I’m finally going up to the .5 injection this weekend. So really it was 17 lbs in 2 months and then just maintained for a month. Anyway, wondering if that is a good amount/rate to be losing? I can tell that my clothes are fitting better but it’s not really noticeable to anyone else yet.
Bonus question: I get sick for two days after the shot every time. Not stomach issues (well maybe some indigestion but it’s not a bother) but extreme fatigue and almost flu-ish feeling. It’s hard because I want to have 7 days in a week not 5 lol. Is there anything I can do about it or do I just deal with it?
I’ve always used osmocote to feed my heliamphora, nepenthes, and cephalotus (sometimes sarracenia but they catch enough on their own usually). But I see nutricote being recommended a lot and might want to make the switch. Is it better and why? Also, which formulation is better? I asked AI but I’d rather hear from real experts.
In case it matters, I am not a new grower and all my plants are under high output lighting (neps a little less than the others). And obviously the pellets would go in the pitchers and not the soil.
Thanks so much in advance!
I should have taken before photos, it was a disaster zone. 😂
I bought this one but it didn’t hold up to the weather after a year (wood warped etc). I was wondering if there are alternatives. It DID work by the way, was cool to see the bees grow. Just very expensive for only lasting a year.
Shipping is ok, any price considered. Thanks!
