where's my podcast buddy

Anyone else here basically have a podcast playing 24/7?

Whether I’m chilling on the couch during lunch, commuting to work, or doing chores after dinner, I almost always have something playing in the background. I’d say I easily spend 6–7 hours a day wearing headphones just listening to podcasts.

I’ve tried a bunch of different pairs over the years, but I keep running into the same problems. Some get uncomfortable after a few hours because of the pressure on my ears, and I end up taking them off halfway through longer interview episodes. Others just don’t handle voices that well, the host’s voice gets mixed with background noise, and it’s harder to really get immersed.

For those of you who listen to podcasts for hours every day, what matters more when picking earbuds: comfort for long sessions or better voice clarity? Any recommendations for earbuds that are good for relaxing and daily podcast listening?

My Pro is officially one month old

For context, I'm 5'6" and around 132lbs. I was coming from a used Haworth Zody, which honestly wasn't a bad chair. It was just old, and I bought it pretty cheap, so I knew I was going to replace it eventually.

At first I was looking around $300, then bumped it to $500-600, and somehow the LiberNovo Pro ended up on my radar. I really didn't want to spend that much on a chair just to see what a high-end ergonomic chair was like, then have to pack it back up 4 weeks later.

But the first time I sat in it, IT WAS SO COMFORTABLE. I used it for maybe 3 or 4 hours that first day, so yeah, that was only a first impression, and it was a really good one.

The seat gives me the support I wanted while still landing in a good middle ground. Compared to my Zody, it keeps me in a better position, especially after I've been sitting for a few hours. A month later, that part hasn't really changed. The cushion hasn't flattened out or changed shape either.

The upright position is also slightly reclined, which is actually pretty close to what I was used to with the Zody. The recline also goes back pretty far, and I've gotten really comfortable using it that way. It supports the way I actually like to sit, instead of forcing me into that perfectly straight office posture that I know I'm not going to keep.

The fan has become part of my normal setup now. I use it every day, and even with long pants on, the cooling still comes through the seat.

Could still be the honeymoon phase, but I'm pretty positive about it for now. Might update again later.

Cheap scanner found nothing. The 740i had other plans.

Customer brought in this BMW 740i after chasing a random warning light and a weird limp-ish feeling for about a week.

He said he already tried one of those cheap Bluetooth OBD dongles at home and it showed “no codes.” Fair enough, probably no generic P-codes. The rest of the car apparently didn’t get that memo.

Shop just got a fresh batch of diagnostic gear in: a Topdon scanner, Midtronics battery tester, Fluke meter, and a smoke machine that hopefully leaks less than half the cars we work on. Figured this old 7er was a good first victim.

Full scan pulled faults from the EGS and DSC modules, plus a handful of undervoltage history codes across a few other modules. Battery was sitting around 12.1V KOEO, dropped into the 9V range during crank, and only recovered to about 13.9–14.1V running.

Cleared everything, cycled it a few times, and the trans warning came back right after a lazy crank. No obvious fluid issue, no metal glitter, no horror story yet. Just a very BMW way of turning a weak battery into a Christmas tree and a “trans failsafe” complaint.

Not calling it fixed until it behaves after a proper battery and relearn/check drive, but so far this looks less like “RIP gearbox” and more like “old luxury car hates low voltage.”

Converting our spare bedroom to a dedicated home theater. Where to put the screen?

Finally pulling the trigger on converting our spare bedroom into a proper media room. Room is 13.5 x 13.5 ft with an attached bath on one side. Still figuring out the best wall for the screen.

Planning to go 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos. Looking at a Denon AVR-X3800H for the receiver, Klipsch Reference for mains and surrounds, SVS for the sub. Projector is pretty much settled on the JMGO N3 Ultimate, still going back and forth on fixed frame vs motorized screen around 110-120 inches. Blackout curtains are going in regardless.

Anyone dealt with a square room layout like this? Would love to hear how you approached it.

How do you guys deal with carpets when your robot vacuum is mopping?? Do you set up a no-go zone and just keep it completely off carpets? Or do you trust the mop lift feature? I feel like on thicker carpets the wheels can sink a bit, so the mop might still touch it. I really don't want dirty mop water getting on my carpet. I'm trying to decide if I should go for something with a mop cover like the Ecovacs X12, or just stick with a regular mop lift setup. What's it been like for you guys with carpets? Any issues with them getting damp, or does the mop lift do a good enough job?
