Sony STR-6065. Really well built 50w circa 70-74. Still need to run the serial numbers to confirm the build year. Pretty clean and after the first inspection it’s looking like a good cleaning will be enough to get it running. Looking forward to hearing how this guy sounds…

Estate Sale find o’ the day

Local sale this morning - they had a McIntosh ma5100 integrated amp along with a Sony receiver and some newer 90’s separates. Got there early enough to have my pick but they knew what they had with the McIntosh and priced it higher than I was willing to go, but they slept on this Sony.
Couldn’t make an ID from the fuzzy pics but found out it was a pretty clean str-6065 and I grabbed it up. Will need lots of cleaning at the least but I’ve wanting to mess with one of these early 70’s Sonys for a while.
If anyone has any with these and can help shed light on what I should watch for please fill me in. I’ll be sure to post a follow up with images and details once I get it on the bench. ✌️

BPC this is not.

Whew. Saw this ADS stack show up in a local estate sale and was lucky enough to grab it when they opened. Circa 1986 ADS/Braun Atelier line. Heavy bastards. 50wpc amp along with a tuner and cassette deck. Cassette deck is a motor driven tray that will run all functions open or closed.
Everything seems to be functioning from what I can tell on first inspection but it will need the controls cleaned as the pots are a bit sketchy. I honestly wasn’t on the prowl for new gear and this is a bit newer than my other stuff but I am digging it. I’l clean it all up and let the dust settle before I make the call on if it all gets sold or I keep it.
Btw - is there an ADS subreddit? I haven’t been able to find one yet but I suspect there must be one. 🤷‍♂️
