Wal-Mart Bryce Harper Glove Replacement Process. There is Hope.
I’ve had a couple people reach out in chat. Starting this thread to detail it for anyone persistent or crazy enough to spend the time (over 7 calls +5 hours on phone). I, like everyone else ordered the Bryce Harper First Base Mitt (1-2) on April 28th: But Received the Carlos Carrera Fielder’s Model. (4-5)
Here’s the return process I used:
Call Walmart.Com
1 (800) 966-6546
Not 1-800-Walmart they can’t help with this.
Just keep calling, be persistent. It took several phone calls. Don’t ever say give me a refund or allow them to say they’ll cancel your order.
You will have to agree to ship the “mistake glove” (picture 4-5) back via Fed-ex. This made me extremely nervous. Especially after I did and then my order sat there for quite a while in limbo on the replacement.
Don’t accept the narrative that they can’t. Be prepared to be frustrated with the process, don’t use profanity, be respectful but forceful.
Ask for a supervisor, and then when they say no, ask for the senior supervisor, if they say no ask for the call center manager. Write down names, ask for incident numbers.
Rawlings still makes the Bryce Harper glove. It’s in stock at Rawlings. (and for the moment, also on Wal-mart)
If they say they can’t because it’s out of stock tell them you’ll wait until it is. If they argue, use the tactic of, Give me the Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s Model that is in stock right now. (Picture 3) Yes the price is different. However the original base price in both gloves is identical. $419.99, that means when the Bryce Harper comes in, they are still having to markdown the price to the same amount. Same amount of money, same profit. Tell them you don’t care about the color. That the glove, Pro preferred, the pattern DCT, and being a first base glove is what matters.
Keep reinforcing that you want what you ordered. That this isn’t your fault. That multiple other customers are all going through this. Mention calling your state attorney generals office on bait and switch tactics if you have too, and escalating all the way to Walmart.coms corporate office in California as well.
This will take time but don’t give up. Finally got the glove 5-15-26.
Update:
An alternate and sounds like significantly easier method posted by AmericanVito in his post here. Gotta give credit where credit is due. https://www.reddit.com/r/BaseballGloves/s/zqHAWy8yHe.
