Rama?!

Rama?!

Who remembers Rama? Based upon Arthur C Clarkes "Rendezvous with Rama" series. I played Rama when it was released in 96/97, and tragically couldn't get very far - I don't remember if the puzzles were too hard for me at that age, or possibly there were issues switching between the 5 or 5 discs on my computer. I've thought about it for years (and happen to be reading Rama II right now), and wanted to take a stab at it one more time. I can't see to find a playable version anywhere though! Does anyone know if it's available? Help a gamer out! 🙏

EDIT: I'm on a Mac 🍎

I'm building a game where looping music is the puzzle

Hey all! I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m obsessed with game music/soundtracks, and am currently working on an immersive adventure game called Dream Loop that heavily features looping music as a puzzle mechanic. I’ve had my head stuck in Logic for years now, but I am getting to a place where I am ready to share my work!

This trailer features music from the game (including me singing some background vocals). This cut is a bit condensed so that it fits into the trailer runtime, but it shows how the music loops layer in the game to create the soundtrack. The player collects sounds like these from the environment, eventually "puzzling" how they fit together to create songs.

I’d love the opinions of some fellow game music lovers on how it sounds!

Dream Loop - an atmospheric first-person puzzle adventure with a music-based twist!

Hi all! Someone from r/myst recommended I post here - not sure how I've slept on the sub, as I'm absolutely obsessed with puzzle games. 😍

I've played puzzle games my whole life, and I've been working on a project for a few years which is very heavily inspired by the Myst games (as well as other similar, first-person puzzle adventures). I hope you all don't mind my sharing it here with other folks that may enjoy the universe I'm creating! I keep calling it "Myst with music puzzles", though it's a bit more surreal than the Myst titles. I'd love for you all to check it out!

It's called Dream Loop, and it's a first-person adventure set inside a lucid dreamscape. The gameplay is exploring surreal environments with a tape recorder, collecting sounds and mixing them into original looping tracks. This is the main puzzle mechanic - the player gathers sounds from the environment and figures out which ones work together to advance in the game. All of the music is original, created by me! 🙏

I have a trailer you can watch here.

And if you'd like, you can wishlist on Steam here →https://store.steampowered.com/app/1800670/Dream_Loop/

My current trajectory has my demo out the October Steam Fest. Looking forward to some other people walking around the universes in my head!

Thanks everyone! <3

I've recently amped up my marketing a bit for my game Dream Loop, and I feel like my algorithm is totally primed to only show other devs who are showing their game to other devs... it feels a bit like an echo chamber, and my growth was very quick at first but now has stalled. Has anyone else experienced this? Any hot tips to reach the "right" audience of actual players?

New gameplay trailer is out! I’m an old school adventure gamer, heavily inspired by the Myst (& all the Miller brother's creations). I've been working on this game for a couple of years, and I’m finally ready to show more of the environments and mechanics. Really happy with how this came together!

Dream Loop is a first-person adventure set inside a lucid dreamscape. You explore surreal environments with a tape recorder, collecting sounds and mixing them into original looping tracks. The core puzzle mechanic is finding the sounds that belong together, creating the soundtrack as you go. Think a more surreal Myst with looping music puzzles! All the music is original, created by me (that’s my voice singing in the trailer).

If you want to see the entire, uncut trailer, you can check it out here.

Curious to hear what you all think, and if you have any constructive criticism on my first solid game play trailer! Also, any advice on getting this trailer out there is appreciated as well. 🙏

Oh, and you can wishlist on Steam as well! :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1800670/Dream_Loop/
