How do you deal with hurtful things your parents say, even when you're an adult?

I had a small argument with my dad today.

To be fair, I overreacted a little too, but I realized it pretty quickly, backed down, and apologized.

He kept going, though, and eventually said something that hit me much harder than I expected.

He told me that I will never really know what love is because I won't have children, and that I'll most likely end up alone for the rest of my life.

Normally that would hurt enough on its own, but I'm already going through a pretty difficult period in my relationship right now, and things at work haven't exactly been great either. So I guess it hit a particularly sensitive spot.

What bothers me is that, even after all these years of hearing similar things, comments like this still affect me so deeply, especially when they come from my father.

Part of me feels like I should be used to it by now, or that at this point in my life I shouldn't let his words have this much power over me. But they still do.

How do you deal with something like this? Do hurtful things your parents say ever stop affecting you as much?

Sorry if this isn't much of a post. I just really needed to get it out somewhere.

I dalje posle toliko godina istih stvari, i dalje me to toliko pogodi.

My relationship is slowly coming to an end

A few weeks ago, I posted here about the situation in my relationship. First of all, I want to thank everyone who took the time to give me advice. Honestly, this has been one of the most supportive Reddit communities I've come across in a long time.

After thinking about everything people told me here, and after a lot of conversations and arguments with my partner, I've made the decision that this relationship has to end. I just can't continue like this anymore.

So now I'm slowly preparing for the next steps, separating our things, figuring out what belongs to whom, and dealing with all the practical stuff that comes with ending a long-term relationship.

But I'm finding myself in a bit of a strange position now.

Since I'm the one who made the final decision, I'm not sure how much I should help him with what comes next. I still care about him and want to make the transition easier, but I'm also afraid that helping too much could make it harder for both of us to move on.

One thing that makes it even more difficult is that he still seems to think I'm bluffing, for lack of a better word, and that I'll eventually change my mind. That makes it harder to know how supportive I should be without giving him false hope.

It's a strange situation, and I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar, especially after a long-term relationship.

How did you handle the practical side of the breakup, and where did you draw the line between helping your ex and starting to move on yourself?

EDIT: link to the previous post previse post

Heed some help to understand the family coat of arms

As I was going thre my late grand-dad stuff. I have come across these few interesting parts of the, I presume a family history.

My German is not good but as I can tell it is, a Austro-Hungarian queen or Empress that had granted this coat of arms. (if someone can read in comment on the text from the pictures)

I would appreciate some explanation what maybe the symbolism of the elements there. And if you can give me more details why some elements are might be chosen to be there on the coat of arms.

And as a finale favor, as I'm not probably direct descendent of those nobel people who got the coat-of-arm I wanted to create the variable with the white White Triangles bar in upper red fied. I have added two supports; the black Griffon is heraldic symbol of a tow where I grownup, and blue boar is for golden chain suggests controlled power. SO, how off I'm with this design.

Thanks all for the help.

How to try respark relationship

For the past two and a half years, I’ve been trying to bring some life back into our relationship, and I’m running out of ideas.

My partner is completely detached. We haven’t had sex in about a year, he is cold and distant, and I no longer feel as though we are really a couple. When I was going through a very difficult period, he wasn’t supportive at all.

At this point, I sometimes feel as though he is staying with me mainly because I provide him with a place to live and financial security. I don’t think he is seeing anyone else, he simply seems disconnected from me and from life in general. He doesn’t want to do anything, and every day there seems to be another problem he cannot handle. Therapist for him is a waist of time and money.

As one final attempt, I was thinking of suggesting a few things we could regularly do together: go to a restaurant once a week, take a few walks, and spend at least two hours a day without phones. His constant phone use is one of our biggest problems. And sanctions with less money for him, because that is only thing he cares about.

I know scheduling time together might sound like a business arrangement, but perhaps it could help us reconnect. At the same time, I don’t want this to become another project that I have to manage alone.

I’ve invested a lot in this relationship and supported him through everything, but I’m emotionally exhausted and can’t continue like this.

Is this structured plan worth trying, or am I only postponing the inevitable?

How are you manage to overcome the Blockage

Lately, I’ve been falling into a kind of creative block more and more often. It’s not that I don’t have ideas for what to paint. It's the actual process of painting that seems to block me.

I’ve tried taking a break, but that usually turns into several weeks without painting at all. I’ve also tried keeping my supplies easily accessible so it would be easier to start, but lately everything just feels difficult.

Even when I do start painting, it often feels like I’m forcing myself. Then I become tense and frustrated with the process, and the painting usually doesn’t turn out the way I wanted it to.

So, did you had simular situation, and how did you overcome it?

Kako se vi nosite sa blokada?

U poslednje vreme sve češće upadam u neku vrstu kreativne blokade.

I recently got back into playing Foundation, and this is my current late-game region - Veligradsko Podgorje.

On the hill above the river stands Veligrad, which gradually grew from the original village into the main city of the entire region. Surrounded by walls, it became the political and trading center of the realm.

To the north-west lie:

  • 🌾 Poljane - an agricultural village that feeds the entire region
  • ⛏️ Zlatnorudne Gorice - a mining settlement supplying gold, quartz and glass
  • ⛪ Across the river stands the Abbey of St. Vid, which started as a small monastery before eventually growing into the main religious center of Veligradsko Podgorje.

Guarding the north river entrance is Ostragrad, an island fortress that controls the bridges, river access, and trade routes coming from the north.

Right now I’m considering building a massive star fortress between the three mining hills, with a:
⚔️ Hall of Heroes ⚔️
dedicated to the veterans and military campaigns of Veligrad.

At this point in the late game, though, I sometimes feel like I’m mostly just waiting for my soldiers to come back from missions 😄

So, how do you usually approach the late game?

Do you focus more on expanding your city, building monumental projects, or mostly on aesthetics?
