Leather sourcing recommendations

Hi there! I've finally decided to pull the trigger and get into leather working. What are some good suppliers with reasonably priced leather (looking for rigid as opposed to soft for my intended project)? I don't want to go way over budget since this is intended as a hobby as opposed to potential business.

Those in the medical field please help!

I'm a tech in a town with a very large Brazilian Portugese-speaking population. Most patients know English, but there's a large portion that don't. Only two techs and one pharmacist know Portuguese, and they're not always available or working when I have someone at pick-up or drive-thru who needs translation services. I would really like to learn enough to handle a basic conversation so I have downloaded Buusu to learn some Portuguese, but it of course doesn't mention anything pharmacy-related at the beginner level. What are some phrases that could help so I don't have to constantly interrupt my coworkers when they're busy or use a translation app when they're not on? I'm looking for things like asking their birthday, if they have insurance, if they have questions for the pharmacist, the total cost, if they have extra care, if they want a vaccine, if their medication is out of stock and anything else you might find helpful. And definitely "please speak slowly I'm still learning." Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

I'm really missing my babies (piggy pic requests)

I lost all of my guinea pigs in the last year. They all lived good, long lives (youngest passed at just shy of 6 years, oldest passed just shy of 8), but it wasn't nearly enough time with them. Sweet Pea passed at the end of August, Pumpkin passed in December, and Bear passed at the end of May. I had to move back in September, and unfortunately the only affordable option for me didn't allow pets. I was able to place Pumpkin and Bear with a lovely guinea pig rescue and I know they had a wonderful time there and made lots of new friends. But it tears me up that I wasn't able to be with Bear and Pumpkin at the end. I miss all three of my babies so much and for some reason the grief decided to really kick in today after feeling ok for months. So, I would greatly appreciate it if you'd comment some of your favorite pics of your lovely babies and tell me funny things about them 💕

(In first photo) left to right: Pumpkin (the bossy, spunky middle child), Bear (the very strange but cute baby), and Sweet Pea (the darling, gentle little old lady)

Discontinued Healthy Choice Power Bowl Search

I know I'll never be able to find it in stores again, but please help me recall the name of a Healthy Choice Power Bowl that I ate all the time back in 2021-2022 so I can find a copycat! I know it had distinctly Latino flavoring and slight spice to it. I believe it had sausage, possibly chorizo, but I'm not too sure. It had riced cauliflower, pepitas (pumpkin seeds), and beans (at least I think so), and the entire bowl was a "riced" texture, which made it very fun to eat. When they rebranded to Protein Bowls, they scraped that bowl from the list. It had a variety of other veggies and it was the most delicious frozen dinner I had ever eaten. I took a picture of the box some years ago with the intent of making my own frozen meals, but that picture is now gone and buried somewhere in the cloud. I know the chances of someone remembering the name is small, but I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Heat tolerance and motion sickness?

I've been on SSRIs for about 12 years now, specifically starting on Sertraline and then switching to Escitalopram. I can pinpoint that as the time when my ability to regulate body temperature and handle heat dropped dramatically, which has only gotten worse with climate change. The heat is way too much for me to handle now, which sucks because I love being outside. I'm currently on 15mg of Escitalopram, but I had my physical yesterday and my PCP mentioned that trintellix has fewer side effects. I'm trying to do a little research before bringing it up to my psychiatrist next month. Has anyone found heat is more tolerable now?

How about motion sickness? I used to love rollercoasters and boats, and never got motion sick on them for the longest time. It's so bad now that I can't even sit in the passenger seat of a car without taking Dramamine beforehand. Motion sickness in cars has always been a thing for me, but that was only if I looked down at a phone or book. It's intolerable now. I have to be the one driving, which isn't a huge issue because I like to drive, but that means I can't be any car other than mine, my wife's, or either of my parent's because I'd have to be a passenger.

On the topic of side effects, how bad were things like insomnia/nausea/etc for you after switching over? I saw one post about insomnia that makes me a little nervous, because I ended up with severe insomnia when trying qelbree that left me feeling like I was going to crack. I'm really scared of that happening again, but I've also heard good things about trintellix and I don't want to miss out on a good change out of fear of things that might not happen.

Why aren't there transplants?

I'm not really looking for answers, more so complaining. I constantly think about how awesome it would be if I could have my intestines removed and replaced with healthy ones, even if it meant I had to be on medications to keep my body rejecting them my entire life. I'm already on enough medications that adding one or two more wouldn't make a difference. Why can't they just do gut transplants like they can with hearts and lungs? 😭 I'm so sick and tired of having a body that's constantly getting in the way of everything. I used to be able to drive 12 hours with my friends for a convention we would go to every year, but now there's no way I'd be able to do that because such a huge portion of the trip is spent in traffic on highways with very few turn-offs and driving through sparely populated rural areas. Hell, every trip that takes over 30 minutes makes me anxious now, and driving used to bring me so much joy. It's getting in the way of work, relationships, hobbies, adventures, you name it. I love hiking but haven't done it in years because there are no bathrooms in the woods. And I know this is a very very small issue, but I can't even use any of the cute tiny purses I have any more because I need something big enough to fit my portable heating pad and case of meds. I just want them to take my guts out and replace them with ones that work the way they're supposed to.

Edited to add I know it's not actually possible. This was just a hypothetical thing born out of frustration.

I made my first decora case!!

I've been interested in making decora cases for a while, but as someone who tends to invest in a hobby then drop it after a few months, I decided against buying supplies. I went to a diy studio recently that had a decora section and it was so much fun and so incredibly satisfying!! I can't wait to make more accessories.

Slide phone recs?

Hi!! I'm really disliking how much having a smart phone has impacted me and want to return to the simplicity of the relationship I had with my dumb phone in high school. Does anyone know of something comparable to the Samsung Brightside? That was the last phone I had before getting an iPhone in college and it was basically the perfect phone. I could listen to music, I could call, I could text...I would google things... The only additions I would really want would be discord (since it lets me stay in contact with my international friends and more easily talk to groups of people) and the ability to access my email. I enjoyed having a full keyboard in addition to a more simple dial pad. My plan is to put everything else on a tablet so I have to be more intentional about actually accessing anything on it.

I still have my old Brightside and was considering modifying it, but it would be way outside my skill level to do the work it would need to use 5G and such. So, I'm looking for something similar instead. Any recs would be great appreciated!!

Please help me crack the case!!

Do any of you know if Hiiragi Maigo from Kimino Virus is married? We're concerned my aunt (my mom's cousin) is being scammed by this girl (we'll call her Cece) who claims to be married to him and before we heard that part the whole thing was already sketchy. Her siblings and their (adult) kids have all been trying to tell her there's something very off about the situation but she won't listen. According to my aunt, who lives part time in Singapore and part time in the US, Cece and Hiiragi are moving to Singapore (highly doubt it as the band is active), and Cece is telling her that he'd pay for a first class ticket for my aunt to go back. My aunt hasn't been back in a very very long time since her elderly mom has been ill. We're hoping that proving Cece is lying about being married to him will pop the bubble finally.

Looking for a companion for my dove

Hi there! I'm looking to adopt another dove to keep my girl Juliet (diamond dove) company. She was purchased along with her now ex-husband at a pet store, but he was given up for adoption after a while because he got quite nasty towards her and drew blood. She gots a lot of attention for me, my wife, and my sister in-law (we share an apartment), but I can tell she needs something more than just conversation. Due to the aftermath of the attacks by her ex, she does not like being handled (several vet visits and antibiotics), so I can't help preen the back of her neck or have her snuggle with me, despite how she always comes as close to us as she can while we sit on the couch next to her enclosure. I haven't seen any diamond doves in stores near me since, and don't know of any breeders I can trust. If I can't find another diamond doves, I have heard ring necks get along well with them. Is that true? And how much more work is a ring neck? Are there any other birds that make good companions for diamond doves? Who are some trustworthy breeders you know of in the New England area or who are willing to send birds to other states? (Picture of Juliet for bird tax)
