Looks like Google just killed every Gen 1 Chromecast in existence. How much more time until they start killing off Gen 2?

I have 2 Gen 1s that no longer cast anything (still appears in Google home, but that's about it), and 2 Gen 2s that work fine. I'm thinking that Google is purposefully offing Gen 1s without telling anyone. No firmware updates since '23, and up until a few weeks ago, Youtube, Hulu, HBO Max, or Chrome apps no longer cast anything to them. How much more time until they come for Gen 2s?

When I log into my Mint test machine from my other Win computer using XRDP, it starts with Cinnamon. Now don't get me wrong, I like Cinnamon, but I'd like to use Plasma as well while logged in remotely.

Even though it was kind of slow to communicate with due to it's age, I was able to remote into my Linux machine from my daily driver Win 10 machine. Had to be sure to not be logged in already on the computer itself, and to use lower case for the user name.
