Why was gaikwad playing at no. 4 despite being a top order batter?(India A vs Aus A)
It makes sense when he plays at that position in the main ODI squad as he has been picked as a backup for iyer at 4. And yes, you can't move kohli from 3 to 4 to play gaikwad(a replacement)at 3. But why in this series(ind A vs Aus A) he isn't he opening or batting at 3? There isn't really fixed order here that you can't move someone at his natural role.
Or is it because he wants to make himself a really strong contender for the No. 4 spot in internationals, as that's the only position where he has a chance to play? Or a future no. 3( after kohli' s retirement)
