You didn’t grow up in NL. Should you walk on this path- Y/N

Has this country never heard of a slash through sign?

If you don’t live in NL- a round sign with a red border means the thing inside the circle is prohibited. In most parts of the world this would seem to emphasize yes do this action!

Insult to injury- the sign of the walking person with an arrow was recently added to encourage people to cross the street but arguably emphasis even more that the path is a walking path given the arrow placement.

It’s a bike lane fyi

Edit: we seem to have one globally shared language- emoji. Sharing the current emoji “don’t do” signs 🚳🚷🚯📵🚫🚭🚱🔞

Advice on Weill Cornell PGT testing

My partner and I created our PGT M probe with Juno because the clinic we worked with on our most recent IVF used that lab. I also froze eggs 5 years ago in NYC at Weill Cornell and would like to now fertilize and test those eggs for our genetic condition.

I know Weill Cornell does not use Juno as their regular lab partner. Has anyone had luck getting them to work with another lab?

We’ve already spent a lot of time and money preparing this probe and really don’t want to have to redo it. Juno has said they can set up the transport etc if WC agrees.

Tips appreciated!!!

What do in this position on day 5?

37F and 35M- undergoing IVF due to genetic disorder (plan for PGT-M). We are currently day 5 post our first ER. Numbers as follows:

Pre Testing:
Male- normal sperm test
Female- AMH=2, AFC= 21

Results thus far:
Retrieved = 14
Matured = 11
Fertilized = 10
Day 3 = “9 developing, 3 appear high quality”
Day 5 (today) = 1 at stage to be biopsied.

This is obviously heartbreaking given we haven’t even done PGTM/A yet. Trying to remain calm and understand. One thing that is incredibly frustrating is we have no information on cell number or fracturing at all- is this normal for a clinic to withhold?

What questions would you be asking at this stage and what actions should we take?

My biggest fear is there are some edge case embryos that could be biopsied and the lab doesn’t because of a black and white criteria.

Would more data improve the odds drs set protocol correctly on first ER?

Hello! I see lots of people mentioning that the first ER is often a learning round. I am curious if the science exists to read blood/other bio markers before starting a first ER and know the correct protocol to use for that patient?

Is the limitation equipment? Knowledge? Desire for clinics to bill for multiple cycles? Has anyone had a dr/clinic who did this well?

I have no medical training- just curious! Would be an amazing problem for someone to work on

Day 7?

My husband (35M) and I (37f) just completed our first ER yesterday. We are undergoing PGT-M because we are both genetic carriers of the same disease- 25% odds of an affected embryo.

Of the 14 we retrieved 11 matured and 10 were fertilized. My clinic has confirmed they would continue to monitor a blast to day 6 if it’s not large enough on day 5. My questions are: 1) should we push to wait until day 7 if needed? Is there evidence that those blasts could make it? 2) is it possible to make predictions on our final euploid rate from our stats to date at all? What could our current numbers suggest?

Thank you to this wonderful community!!!

My clinic is asking about adding these on- actually good to do or just sales tactics?

We’re on day 4 of our first ER cycle. The clinic emailed today reminding us we can add on the below additional treatments they recommend. Does anyone have experience with them? Would you recommend we do it? For context, 37F 35M. My AMH is 2 and my pre cycle ultrasound counted 21 follicles. My partner’s sperm tests showed no issues. We are undergoing IVF with PGT- M due to a recessive genetic trait we both carry.

- 1) Culture to blastocyst and Hatching are important to improve chances of implantation and it is done in most of our patients.

-2) IMSI, MACS and Fertile Chip are sperm techniques used to choose the best sperm.

-3) Time lapse is an especial incubator used in case of need, so the embryo is recorder 24 hours for the lab to closely follow up.

- 4) Embryoglue is a specialized culture medium that is used in certain cases to help support embryo implantation

Thank you!

Salary and contract advice- I will not promote

Have received a tentative offer to lead a 25mio rev “start up” that has been around for roughly 10 years. It needs a reboot and new strategy. Owners would like to exit in 3 years (I’m not convinced this is a feasible timeline, but to be discussed).

What would be fair to ask for in base and equity? Would you also ask for annual bonus? What types performance kickers would you add for addl base and/or equity? What do I need to be sure is included in my contract?

Offer has no base. “Name your price, we will make the equity attractive”

first ER cycle- how much pressure is normal on day 3 of stims?

I am not in pain, but I do feel a decent amount of pressure like I am very full. My belly is not extremely distended. Asking because I am undergoing IVF in Spain and the clinic doesn’t do regular blood testing, only ultrasounds.

I have emailed my doctor also to inquire; but wondering if anyone could comment? I was expecting to feel this way after more days of stims.

I am 37, 2 AMH, and the tech counted 21 follicles in my pre round ultrasound.

Thank you for the kind advice- this is such a lovely group of humans!

What would you want your friend to bake or cook for you if you had a miscarriage?

Feeling sad for my friend and want her to know she is loved. Was thinking to make her something sweet (it’s customary in Chinese culture to have a candy at the end of a funeral to have something sweet in a tough moment, she’s not chinese- I just like the sentiment)

Creative bakers! Has anyone modified to make a spicy fruit cookie?

I’m inspired by the gojuchang cookies and want to make another spicy cookie. This time I’d like to add fruit to my cookie (for the summer season? :-) )

I was eyeing the Mexican hot chocolate cookies from Vaughn and thinking about adding dried mango, but not sure if this would be gross with the marshmallow. I suppose I could leave the marshmallows out.

Ideas? Other spicy fruity cookies? It’s also fresh peach season!

What you wish you knew before your first retrieval

Hello! My husband (35M) and I (37F) are preparing to undergo our first retrieval process to screen for healthy embryos via PGTM at the end of this month. We are both carriers for the same genetic disease. We have sourced our medications and have both been taking prenatal vitamins (well, his equivalent) for the last 4-5 months. I am planning to downgrade my 5 days a week at the gym to long walks when I begin stims.

Is there anything you wish you’d asked your doctor or done/not done leading up to your retrieval? Crowdsourcing advice from this wonderful community.

Crowdsourcing ideas on lightweight projects to build

Hello!
Marketing and growth professional (15+ yrs) with an undergraduate degree in engineering. Passionate about learning overall. Have done some small AI projects (websites, etc) and using it for personal life organization.

I’d like to build a professional portfolio of projects i can easily pull up in job interviews that

  1. show I’m not just aware of AI but actually using it and understand good applications for it
  2. highlight my strategy skill in the marketing and growth industries

These should be lightweight projects I can easily pull up and show in less than 60 seconds.

Appreciate the creativity and experience of this community!!
