"hello isn't a proper greeting"

JFC it is only 6:40 in the morning. Had a dude come up and say "Good Morning"

I replied with a hello

Then he started getting huffy, telling me that if someone says "good morning/afternoon/evening/night" then you're supposed to respond the same way not a "hello"

Too damn early for this nonsense

The only reason I reply with hello is because when I first started, I used to say good morning, but then I would get customers who would get pissy with me for being happy too early in the morning

Stay mad

I love it when conservative customers crash out about my Chucky sweater. Since it's multi colored, people assume it's a pride flag. Or maybe they've seen Seed of and/or the Chucky series and are angry that GiGi is Gender fluid 😂

Fake hundred dollar bills in the CMN umbrellas

Has anyone else seen people throw the fake $100 with religious text on the back?

I've seen those, mini crosses and the little jesus figurines.

If you believe in a higher power, that's great. However, these umbrellas are for monetary donations. Not a place for your religious trinkets

They aren't even donated to CMN, they're just picked out and thrown away by whoever collects the donations

Have... Have you ever SEEN bread?

A lady complained to me that ALL the bread on the shelf was moldy. I took a look at the bread she had in her cart and the "mold" was actually just excess flour 😭. I'm not a baker, just an enjoyer of bread. It's very common for bread, especially on rolls, to have excess flour on them.

If it's white, powdery and smells like bread = Flour

Green/blue/black spots and smells musty = mold

Wow it's almost like the carts are wet because they came in from the pouring rain not even a minute ago

Some butt nozzle tried to start a fight with AP and I over wet carts. Because it's definitely not like there's a thunderstorm going on outside or anything. Not at all like there's only two people actively trying to dry 50+ carts by themselves. Sorry that we don't have a large dryer like a car wash to blow dry the carts faster for you

Why am I the one getting into trouble?

My little brother recently came out to me and asked me to take him to pride.

I didn't feel comfortable due to safety reasons (because our town is very conservative)

He kept pushing and pushing, so I said that we would see

I later found out that (allegedly) this particular pride event (which is a dance) isn't very kid friendly and I told him that I didn't feel comfortable taking him.

(EDIT: this information came from a couple of coworkers who attend pride events. In all honesty, I now believe that there was a HUGE miscommunication. I didn't even know that there were two separate dances (one for kids one for adults), I was just told that there was a dance. So when I asked my coworkers about the vibe of the dance, they were talking about alcohol and sober kink mixers.)

Now my step mom is pissed and borderline feels like she's calling me a p*do for inviting my brother to pride. 1. I didn't fucking invite anyone to pride 2. I didn't want to go 3. I did more research into the dance festival thing, found out it was geared more towards adults and told my brother no [see EDIT above]

Now that I know more about the pride event, I definitely don't want my little siblings going because (allegedly) this pride event is very adult oriented. [See EDIT above]

I showed my stepmom the text receipts and told her multiple times that I didn't even want to go in the first place. No response.

I don't feel safe going around my family.

Oh ok

When I was on vacation with my family, I was excited by my potential weight loss (my favorite shorts which once fit snugly, had to have a button sewn a bit further away from the original button to fit properly)

My step mom says "well maybe you just stretched them out since you bought them"

Then proceeds to tell me that I've been gaining a lot of weight and that she can get me ozempic to help

I've been trying to exercise an hour a day and trying to eat better since New Years. Now I keep going between extreme highs of eating my feelings to extreme lows where I have to force myself to eat. I'm just never going to be good enough for my family. Everyone has always thought about me like this. It makes me want to hide away.

Really? You don't know why?

My coworker grabbed another coworker's walkie and shouting "eat sh*t and suck my d*ck " and is still surprised when she gets into trouble

I just... I have no words

Coworker: my insulin has gotten so expensive that I have to choose between paying rent and getting groceries or buying my medicine

Manager: I know what you mean. Insulin is so expensive. That's why I didn't buy any and bought an expensive tablet to play candy crush on instead

Mind you this manager has four kids and has serious health problems related to her diabetes. She will frequently pass out at work and need ems to be called to help. Not to mention she makes a lot more than we do and frequently commits time clock fraud in order to add to her paycheck every week. It pisses me off so much that people are STRUGGLING to stay healthy and manage their diabetes with the cost of care and this lady is just straight up refusing to get her medicine because she would rather have a new tablet.

If kids weren't involved in the equation, I would just say "do whatever", but there ARE kids involved who could potentially lose their mother. A husband who could lose his wife. A mother and father who could lose their daughter because she chose a fucking tablet over her own health.

Thank you to the lady who helped me yesterday

I was working self checkout yesterday when a creepy ass old dude tells you that you need to lose weight and another customer overhears and tries to pull you from the situation by pretending to have a problem until the dude finally leaves.

Bro just walked up to me, said "oop looks like someone needs to lose weight" then proceeded to tell me how jacked he got from eating bugs, lizards and other gross shit like that when he was stationed in Korea and Vietnam during the Korean and Vietnam wars 'in the 70's'

The lady was very nice and told me to pretend to work on the register until he leaves

He huffs and shouts "I was going to tell you a story, but I guess you millennials don't care about the elderly" (I'm not a millennial btw.)

I hate working in retail, but that lady made the day a bit better

Why ask then?!

I honestly don't understand why customers ask how to do things then just do whatever the fuck they want anyway. It makes no sense. Just don't ask if you're going to do it your way.

Scalpers are the worst

Pokemon scalpers have been here since 6am (it's noon now) . It would be hilarious if the guy just doesn't show up to restock.

Do ANY Walmarts out there have tap to pay?

A customer started cussing me out because "every other Walmart in america has tap to pay but you guys and that's f*cking ridiculous"

(I don't buy for a second that she's been to EVERY Walmart in the USA. The specific "Walmart" location that she used as an example isn't even a Walmart, it's a kroger store. )

Customer: I don't like the fact that you have a robot stocking stuff now. You're taking jobs away from people who need them

Me: uh... We don't have a stocking robot

Customer: yes you do, don't lie to me! It's the machine that has a stuffed dog on it!

Me: .... That's the cleaning machine, it doesn't stock items

Then she claimed that I was gaslighting her 🤷
