SOC210

Something seems off ? My professor has not responded to my email from last week, all of the instructor info on bright space is blank (literally… still has the “fill in your name” for the instructors info), and an 8wk schedule with corresponding assignments have been posted, but the class is 16 weeks long.

Obviously I am expecting the schedule to change and figure this is a mistake — maybe a sudden change in instructor or someone else taking over for her due to an emergency absence or something? Or is this a massive glitch …?
No syllabus, no instructor info, just a completely backwards course design

Medical Absences/Dr Notes

I have two 8wk courses and a 4wk course on top of my 16wk course that all begin Monday (all online).

I’m due to give birth on Saturday. Of course don’t know when exactly I’ll deliver, but I obviously expect a hospital stay and will need some time off the computer for the first few days.

How do I go about an excuse for absence or extensions for coursework? Are the rules different for shorter sessions like my 4wk and 8wk courses?

Suspension/shocks

2017 Elantra needs front and rear shocks replaced.
Hyundai said rear are blown, smaller shop for second opinion said the front needs repair (strut is leaking), rear has more time to wait than front.

Really confused on the contradicting answers, though I understand both should definitely be replaced.

Either way, cost for each at both places is the same ($1800 for front, $900 for rear).
Is this an appropriate price for this work/these parts?

Just bought the car for 4.5k and it needs 5k in repairs .. clearly I am surprised (not shocked), but also on a budget.

ACA 122

Can someone prepare me for what this 8wk class is going to be like online?
Or any input on instructor Abercrombie?

AI detection — 0 received

Has anyone combatted getting zeros for AI detection in your work? 4 of my last 5 graded assignments in one class have been given 0’s due to “ai detection”. Clearly the 5th didn’t qualify for ai detection somehow, despite them all being relatively the same.

Obviously I’m going to email the instructor because this has dropped my nearly 100% grade to a 79%. And I am going to email all of my scanned documents of literally hand doing the writing assignments — but has anyone gone through this and the instructor taken your email and proof and given you a new grade?

My instructor clearly just submitted everything to TurnItIn and called it a day. Anything that is “AI” has to be because of my in text citations (that were required) and use of the textbook (also required…). I am just sick to my stomach.

Help me understand my refund …

I just got an email from bank mobile that a refund of $400 was sent to my bank account.

I checked my account on mycollege because my total refund should’ve been just over $1900.
I am in 6 classes, 5 of which start 8/27, the last one starting 10/19. One of my 5 that start in August is the ACA122 class, which shows that it’s free? I guess?

Why would they send $400 and not the closer to $1500 for the 5 classes starting, and hold back the remainder for the ONE single class starting in October?
I’m very confused.

ECO 251 4 week

Is a 4 week course for ECO 251 a mistake?

I just realized I’m registered for a 4 week course. I’d like to do it to get it over with, since it seems it’ll lighten the rest of the semester for me, but is this going to be a massive work load?
I will have two 8 week courses at the same time (HUM 211 and ACA 122), on top of two 16 week courses (BIO 169 and SOC 210)

Instructor changing requirements last minute with no update

I just went to submit my documents for an assignment, and barely noticed that a requirement for one of the (3) documents was changed.

My instructor made an announcement post just yesterday, confirming the same requirement that has been in place since at least the 19th of June (I have multiple pieces of evidence of this), yet on the submission form, the requirement has changed.

How is this fair? I now have to alter potentially my entire assignment, or …. Submit as is, with the requirements she gave a week ago, and … argue with her when she gives me a bad grade? Risk my grade and her saying she’s allowed to do that? Or what?

This seems entirely messed up, and is unfortunately on par with her as an instructor. What are students supposed to do? How are they supposed to succeed when instructors do things like this?

This is incredibly unfair for people who have worked hard on their assignment and may potentially miss the one tiny line where she now states a new requirement ONLY on the submission form.

What is one reasonably expected to do in this situation?

Bluelink doesn’t work

My Bluelink app doesn’t work worth a damn. It sucks all around. Can barely ever successfully start my car, takes ages to unlock or lock the door (if it can successfully do that), and to top it off — my digital key has randomly been removed from my phone and now I cannot add it back!
I am the primary owner on the app and my husband is a “shared user” (or whatever). He has a digital key on his phone and uses it daily.
Yet, when he goes on the app, it says he does not have a digital key and one cannot be set up because he’s not an owner!
On my Bluelink app, it now says I can’t set up a digital key because the owner key is registered to a different device — which it’s not!!

What on earth? Why have I not seen any other post about this app sucking?

How likely is extra credit work?

I have an 83 in a class I absolutely should not (a very easy class).

I do have 1 particularly low assignment grade, but the rest are A-high B range.
I missed 2 assignments because I simply did not see them on brightspace, so I missed 50 points total for them.
Even if I get all 100’s for the rest of the semester, I’ll only be a high B.

How likely is the instructor to give me extra credit or something to try to bring my grade up, if I email and ask?
It looks like this class is keeping me from a 4.0 GPA since an A is unattainable now, and it’s killing me inside.

Missing quizzes = zeros

I missed 2 quizzes in HEA. For no reason. Maybe the fact the instructor posts 4 different assignments for the same exact thing, and they get lost in the mix — who knows.
This is the second time I’ve missed something due for this class and it’s really making me upset. I was able to redo the first thing but doubt I will have that option again.
Anyways. This is the only class I have missed something in, and now have 2 straight 0’s for both quizzes. I’m somehow doing the worst in this class of all, which is pure insanity.
I am getting so mad at this.
What am I supposed to do ? I triple check what feels like everything, all the time, and this class is continuing to skip things through the cracks.
I am feeling so defeated and upset.

CHM 121 vs CHM 151

This will be my first college chem class.

If I choose 121/121A, it would be the only class I would need to attend in person for, for my entire AA degree.
And I would have a 5 month old baby at the time, with my only available time to go being during my other kids’ preschool hours.

Should I choose 151 instead since I can do it online?

Or is there a big discrepancy in “easiness” between the two, given 121 is foundations of chem and 151 is general chem 1?

Would you send the buyer’s money back after a no show?

I sold something on March 20th — buyer sent me the money, and said they would pick it up the next day or following.
Sent my address and said to let me know when they were on the way so I could be sure I set the item on the porch for them.

I did not hear back until May 23rd.
I did not reach out either (didn’t feel it was my responsibility, and definitely wouldn’t have had they not sent the money anyways).

Unfortunately (my fault) I forgot to get back to buyer on May 23rd about the following day — they reached out again today (May 31st). They said they would be nearby and wanted to pick it up around 1:30-2pm. Before 1pm I sent a message saying feel free to stop by, let me know when you’re on the way.
They responded at 6pm and apologized for not seeing my message and simply stated they “didn’t come” in response to my “let me know when you’re on the way”. And then nothing further ….

At what point do you block them or just send the money back?

Capital One auto loan payoff

Does anyone have experience with Capital One auto loans? I refinanced with Truliant and they sent a check to Capital One to pay off my loan and take over the title/lien.

My loan papers from Truliant say that I financed $41,108.01.
I just got an email from Capital One and checked my account, which says they received a payment for $40,334. In my account, it has a little banner thing that says “your overpayment refund of $1@ is currently being processed.” And then says they’ll mail me a check by 6/13.

What on earth does the “@“ mean? The difference should’ve been $774, assuming Truliant sent the full 40,334 to Capital One.
Obviously I will have to ask Truliant how much they sent in the check, but are they really sending me $1..? Or is it more likely the “@“ means there’s more to it?

I was kind of hoping it would’ve been the full difference refunded, otherwise why am I paying Truliant an extra $774?
