shop.udiscovermusic.comDo New York boroughs still produce relevant rappers?
Yes I know years ago Brooklyn drill was kind of a thing, and the Bronx got some love from Cardi B and A Boogie and Kay Flock. But in 2026, do the boroughs have anyone that represents them? Do rappers still put on for Queens or Queensbridge? Uptown Harlem? Marcy, Flatbush, East New York, Bed-Stuy Brooklyn? It was such a prevalent thing in the 90s and 2000s to rep where you were from
And don’t just blame it on the internet, because people still put on for Atlanta, Los Angeles, parts of Florida, etc. Like seriously though, what happened to NY?

shop.udiscovermusic.comI remember back when I used to live in NY in the 90s, probably mid 90s specific, there felt like there were so many comic shops around. in almost every town. I have a very, VERY vague recollection of them from my youth so I was curious if anyone knew any details of any of the stores from back then. their names, locations, stories, etc.
only one I really remember was in a place called Busy Bee I think it was ‘Stinky’s Comics’. He had a store on the second floor and then moved to a bigger one on the first floor.
so as a longtime fan/casual player of MTG, I saw my town was having a large TCG expo this weekend with hundred+ vendors on site. I was excited because usually I only see comic or video game conventions, so one dedicated to TCG’s excited me.
and boy, it was big. I’ve never seen so many vendors and people in one large room, save for like a Comic Con event.
BUT, I counted three, literally three, out of all these vendors had magic product. it was ALL Pokemon, and I think One Piece. but 99% Pokemon and the turnout was INSANE.
when I asked about MTG, people just kinda shrugged their shoulders like they didn’t know who had singles or product. really? this was a tcg expo, not a Pokemon expo, and isn’t MTG the king of TCG’s? look I’m out of the loop on Pokemon and One Piece, obviously I know they are extremely popular, but I thought Magic was gaining some steam too?
sorry for long ranty post, but I’m just curious if anyone knew what type of margin Pokemon had over MTG because in person it appears to be 100x bigger, if not more.
We’ve seen 8 Mile kinda touch on Eminem’s come up. We know 50 Cent got an infamous story, we know about N.W.A, 2Pac, and Biggie…but what other rappers would make for a compelling biopic.
I think the answer here is MF DOOM. I’m not gonna go into detail on his come up and career that’s you can google, but it for sure would make for a fascinating movie about one man’s journey against all odds.
What other rappers could justify a biopic?
I was having a discussion about Busta Rhymes catalog the other day, in terms of if he had a classic album, and the conversation shifted to ‘have you ever seen someone say Busta Rhymes is their favorite rapper’. He’s generally adored and respected, has a large body of work, was absolutely feared in a potential Verzuz, and he’s likely a top 50 of all time rapper…. But does anyone actually have Busta Rhymes in their top 5? Let alone favorite of all time?
Who are some other rappers like this.
