Help hiding an ant farm in berthing

Good morning fellow Sailors

Im currently on deployment, I know I shouldnt have but I couldnt find anyone to look after my ant farm while away, so I snuck it onto the ship in my backpack. Its been going pretty good so far, I just sneak down food from the galley or snacks from vending machines and theyve been thriving.

A few people know about it and I think its going around now, theyve been making comments at quarters about contraband in the berthing, the normal “Look, if you guys have anything you shouldnt just get rid of it”

Im expecting a “health and comfort” (Not healthy or comforting for my ants!). I know theres probably a few salty sailors here who have been there, done that. Whats the best place I could keep them? I dont want to take them out of the berthing but if anyone has any ideas my ears are open, they got my back against the wall this time twin.

PlayStation controller controls kind of rough

There are a couple of issues I am having. I think I am having a few problems just because I prefer to play with y-inverted on. I expect to look down when I push the right stick forward so I usually toggle that. Especially since this game has flying I think this should be supported and it is, sort of. There is a separate airship y-inverted toggle, but these don't seem to be in parity. Y-inverted makes it so the airship noses down when you pull back on the stick, which doesn't seem right.

For some reason y is also inverted in the build menu which is controlled with the left stick. This is really baffling as movement is normal, it's only the build menu that's affected. This has made using the build menu difficult. Accessing the outer ring is especially challenging.

Free look while flying requires you to press on the right stick. This is a problem because the same stick also is the look control. Actually trying to look causes the button to relax and then snap out of free look mode back to forward at Mach sick.

Can anyone tell me how to access decoration variants? I have been using default decorations until now, but I really want a cooking station and the recipe has a non-default variant, a pot, as an intermediate step. I see the variant on the crafting screen, but I can't find the control to select it.

Why is it called tidal force and not tidal force gradient or gravitational gradient?

This is bothering me today. Tidal force seems like a misnomer. Force units are usually Newtons, not Newtons over distance.

Cooking is venom

This is a thought I had for a while. Venomous animals inject their prey with a digestive enzyme (venom). The way venom breaks down food is it's primary property. Poisoning, paralysis and eventual death are all just side effects.

This increases the effective calories of the food. The predator doesn't need to spend so much energy digesting the food once it's consumed.

The human story sometimes is started when our ancestors began to include more meat in their diet raising their available calories. There was another increase when they domesticated fire and began cooking their food.

By breaking down food before eating more energy is available for gathering more food. More energy is available to maintain larger brains. Fire and cooking enabled the cognitive revolution.
