The Blue Booty Bandit has been spotted! Should you be concerned (about pet hair dye)? I researched so you don't have to!
Good Evening!
I love me a good spicy debate, but I do not like to enter them uninformed! If there's one thing you need to know about Lincoln's mama is that she is extremely✨neurodivergent✨. If I don't understand something I will research it until I understand everything about it.
Is pet hair dye safe?
First we need to understand the differences between human hair dye and pet hair dye. Human hair dye uses chemicals like ammonia to open up the hair cuticle giving access to the cortex which holds color proteins. Color pigment binds to the cortex, and conditioner is used to help seal the cuticle. This process can be damaging to hair because it is altering your hair follicles on a molecular level.
Pet hair dye uses conditioning agents such as Polyquaternium-10 to coat the fur. How? Hair has a slightly negative charge, while conditioners have a positive charge. These oppositely charged molecules attract allowing conditioning agents to cling to hair. Hair is not perfectly smooth, so these conditioner molecules can cling on for many months and washes hiding out in teeny tiny imperfections. This is how pet dye works. It is dyed hair conditioner. It could actually be more accurately described as a stain, but that doesn't sound as appealing.
Unless you know your pet is allergic to specific color agents such as Blue 1, Red 40, or Yellow 5, then pet hair dye is fundamentally equivalent to pet conditioner.
It's perfectly healthy hair with a little ✨pizzazz✨.
Lincoln says be nice to each other.
Crow sculpture entryway. Any tips for the feathers in the wings?
I've been struggling to get good feather shapes. Maybe I just need a billion more little rugs??
I wanted to show off how smart Lincoln is (he knows so many tricks!) but apparently he's camera shy 😅
How to groom a Pomeranian for beginners: Featuring Lincoln!
I've seen a few posts with people asking where to start when it comes to grooming their Pomeranian themselves. I'm not a professional dog groomer but I have been grooming Lincoln myself for a few years now, so I wanted to share my process to help those who could use some guidance!
I'm still learning, but I can't stop opening and closing my dishwasher lol. I'm so proud of it!
"Mama listen, just cause I've had 2 dingleberries this week doesn't mean you gotta trim my butt curtain, okay?!"
This is Sophie, c. 2006. She was my proof that the female oranges hold all the brain cells 🧡
Sophie was a 6 pound queen. She ruled over all of us. She would bolt out the front door as soon as you opened it and hide under the porch, growling like a tiger until you coaxed her out with a can of tuna. She wasn't mean, she just trained us to reward her for her bad behavior.
She hated being picked up, but she knew if she gave you a little kiss on your face you'd put her down. This is how we peasants would beg for her affection.
She would loaf on the couch with us, either directly behind our heads or curled up at our feet. Never on our laps, we weren't worthy.
One time she put a dead mouse in our dirty laundry. Maybe if we kept up with our household chores she wouldn't have to leave us *subtle* reminders.
All hail the orange Queens 🧡👑
We're all out of Lincoln's special chews until tomorrow (they're on auto ship) and he keeps staring at me like I've committed a crime 😂
There's nothing wrong with knowing your limitations. Mine? Fuck dishes.
I'm sick of feeling guilty over dishes. It's one of my worst habits. I leave dishes EVERYWHERE. I've had many urges to just throw all my dirty dishes away. Well, now I can lmao.
Edit: This is a light hearted post, but recognize that a decision to buy paper plates and bowls to use on a regular basis is not one made lightly. I am disabled. I have ADHD and post concussion syndrome, which makes taking care of myself and my home difficult. I have memory issues, fatigue, and executive dysfunction. There have been days where I haven't eaten because I didn't have a plate to eat on. If you don't understand that level of mental illness, then good for you! Live your healthy, environmentally conscious life for me while I get my shit together. Don't worry, I'll be more mindful of my carbon footprint when I learn to love myself again.
Lately every single new dragon I get visually looks like this little green guy. How can I fix this lol
Dis is my lightbulb and is my favoritest toy ever! What's your Poms favorite toy?
This little lightbulb from a $12 doggy advent calendar from Aldi I got 2 years ago is Lincoln's absolute favorite toy. He has about 20 other toys but nothing beats Lightbulb 😂 I've tried looking everywhere for the same advent calendar so he can have TWO lightbulbs but I can't find it!
Looking for seasonal allergies advice
Hello!
Poor Lincoln here has seasonal allergies. He gets the cytopoint injection but it hasn't helped much this year. Even MY seasonal allergies are a wreck this year! His main symptom is itchy ears, and for the second year in a row it's resulted in an ear infection. My poor itchy man is miserable. 😭
Anyone have any advice? He has a vet appointment Tuesday and I'm looking for recommendations to inquire about while I'm there.
Our current preventative measures are the cytopoint injection, air purifiers, and Benadryl when his symptoms get bad.
A little late to update, but I wanted to share Lincoln's experience in case anyone goes thru something similar!

Long story short, I gave Lincoln a sanitary trim that got a little too close. I didn't give him clipper burn, but his fur was so short near his privates that it caused him to panic. If you watch the video, his level of discomfort was extreme. I was so confused because his skin wasn't red or irritated. The problem was, he's too short and stumpy to lick himself "down there". With his fur so short, he was overwhelmed with sensation and it was driving him mad.
People suggested it was Breezy Butthole Syndrome, but I was skeptical. After a few vet visits and time for his hair to grow back...it was confirmed. He had the rare subclass of Breezy Butthole, the dreaded "Windy Weenie".
Something to keep in mind if you have a sensitive pup, and they act similar after a groom!
