Dream I had

I had a dream that I reinstalled and loaded up Marvel Rivals to play Black Widow and I was in queue and my bf was like " we gotta go soon" and I was like "Okay ill be fast im just playing 1 match real quick"

Then I loaded into the game and realized that I was playing the reworked version and immediately shut down my pc and went out

Yes this was 100% a real dream I had

"But old Widow forced your team into a 5v6!!" Meanwhile Spiderman:

If you were forcing your team into a 5v6 you were playing her wrong.

Meanwhile Spiderman literally cant do anything except force his team into a 5v6.

"But he actually gets picks"

Yep, on a cooldown.

Widow could get as many picks as she wanted, not limited to cooldowns or a flowchart playstyle.

Ill say it now, Spiderman is more one dimensional than Widow was. Widow now, is incredibly 1 dimensional. Thats just what the community likes though, auto piloting.

Why would you not just send the artist your ai art to deslopify it in this case?

Like, get the baseline for your commission down, send the ai all your revisions until youre happy and then commission an artist?

The AI art style is so ugly and unoriginal, it often meshes multiple different art styles into 1 picture which makes it look messy and ugly, lacking intention and soul. Ai generated images are typically very busy and displeasing to the eye (especially images that have been through multiple prompts) and especially to eyes that have been trained for art. It would look much better drawn in a talented artists art style.

I get it if youre not going to use the actual art for anything, but if youre using it in a project, work, or even as a profile picture, why would you want ai?

I dont think this person has ever actually commissioned a real artist before, and this is just to justify their use of AI. Look, if you wanna prompt ai for ugly art all day, go ahead. But dont act like its your only option or like you were ever willing to pay for real talent to begin with.

This is so funny to me

Pro AI will look you dead in the eye and tell you AI art is original and creative. Why does every single gen look exactly the same lmfao

Also sidenote, this type of humor is not funny at all. Like the AI cow riding a bike on the highway video going around. The fact that theyre entertained by AI generated vids like that only exposes how simple minded they are. Im not even fully anti-ai, but the secondhand embarrassment I get from these people is unmatched.

Left raw meat in the car for 5-6 hours

Its around 18 celsius (64 F) outside. Parent left raw ground beef and pork shoulder out in the car for 5-6 hours. Parent says fine, I personally dont like to take risks as I have a sensitive stomach but what do you think? Theyre mad that I dont want to eat it because it was $50.

The Rework That Killed Skill Expression (Goodbye Marvel Rivals)

Recorded this the day of the rework drop. Shes been slightly buffed since, but my opinion still stands.

Marvel Rivals officially killed Black Widow's skill expression. This rework changes everything for me.

"After Paladins died I struggled to find a game with characters I could enjoy just as much. I didn't like Overwatch, so I tried Marvel Rivals when it first came out. I remember trying lots of the characters and nothing clicked so I dropped it. I happened to get recommended some footage of Black Widow being showcased in the shooting range, and her kit looked actually kinda fun.

So I reinstalled the game for season 2.5 and I was actually really enjoying a new character for once. She had everything I loved in a character; Survivability, dueling, long and close range combat, playmaking capabilities, mobility, punishes your bad plays, and good carry potential. I fell in love with the character, she forced me actually improve my aim, something I had only recently became interested in as I was purely a projectile main before. I didnt even realize how important headshots were at first, I would end most games with 60-70% accuracy and still felt like I didnt make enough impact, I played good but something was missing.

I started questioning the importance of headshots, is it really necessary to be landing them all the time? I decided to give it a try. Improving my headshot aim/discipline became addictive, it was fun and I was obsessed with getting better. Nothing was more satisfying than her movement paired with her high damage output potential. I had so many videos planned of like warm ups, training regimens, how she could be played, and then this rework kinda came out of no where. Well, deep down I knew it was coming, every season I feared that NetEase would drop a rework that drastically changed her.

I didn't really have any characters to fall back on because I didnt enjoy any of them nearly as much. I played a lot of Hela, Phoenix, Psylocke, Luna, Mag and Emma, but then Id spend 20 mins playing a style I didnt find fun at all, and itd just feel like a waste of time. I didn't want to lose my favorite character again but yknow what, it is what it is. Its time for me to move on, hopefully to better things."

I can't believe they'd do this to me

I didn't want to quit but theres no reason for me to play anymore. Her playstyle has completely changed, everything I loved about Widow is gone. Her gameplay loop was unique to her and could not be replicated by any other character. I don't care if shes "better" now, her identity is completely different. She wasn't even bad before, but now shes accessible to the more casual playerbase so I guess I understand.

It just sucks because I loved the skill expression, that she relied purely on aim, and forced me to train my headshot discipline to levels I didn't even think I could achieve. Now shes quite literally a clone of the Phoenix/Cyclops poke slop playstyle and an objectively worse version of them. That rubber banding, long range, flank playstyle is gone.

I guess its time for me to move on to bigger things. Im pretty sad about it. I played Rivals for Widow and not for Rivals. I already know people are going to call me a thrower for that, but I did swap when necessary, I would initially log in to play Widow though. If she was so weak, how did I consistently uphold a 60% WR, MVP, and SVP rate across all seasons in comp when I wasnt even a hitscan player to begin with. Im just sad.

Stop comparing Widow to Phoenix & Hela

Bare with me, this is a long one.

Am I the only one that thinks comparing Widow to Phoenix & Hela makes absolutely no sense?

Thats like comparing Starlord or Magik to Phoenix & Hela, their jobs are entirely different.

Lets not forget that Phoenix is still pretty busted. Just because they dropped new characters that are even more busted than Phoenix, doesn't mean shes not in need of some tuning.

Hela is only now feeling a little more balanced in comparison to the current meta, but Phoenix has just become a better version of Hela. At least before they did slightly different things, one was AOE focused and the other was better at picking off singular targets.

Anyway, back to my main point.

Widow's job is not the same as Hela/Phoenix. They apply very good frontline pressure, shield pressure, farm deployables. People think that just because Widow is long range/hitscan she belongs in the same catagory.

Id argue in terms of jobs, Widow is basically the hitscan version of Spiderman but simplified. What do they both have in common? Their main priority is the backline squishies. They both excel when they flank or take off angles, obviously spiderman is dive but its basically the same idea. Spidermans job is not to farm deployables, shields, and tanks. His job is to get meaningful picks off their backline, take the enemies attention off their team. They both are considered a throw pick unless youre very good at them. They both require a lot of skill and positioning knowledge. Their main job is essentially the same.

The only difference is that Widow is better at peeling and chipping at tanks especially with headshots. Her direct counter is multiple shields and deployables. Hela & Phoenix both counter shield and deployable comps pretty well.

Most games I play where I have a Magik, BP, or Spiderman, I have to swap even if im doing their job better than them, because they will not swap off. It could be ego, it could be because they don't understand Widow's role. If you're both focusing the backline and neither dps are good at busting tanks, shields, deployables, this causes a huge team synergy problem. The tanks walk down your strats, and theres nothing you can do about it (most of the time) So one of the 2 dps swapping here is ideal.

Countless times I've had a Magik/Spiderman on my team with half of my kill contribution (Because im picking off their targets before they get into a position where they even have a chance to, keep in mind they're my targets too) They go to the backline, but the enemy tanks have lots of room to peel since Magik and I are focused on the same thing. She just falls over, and this repeats, and they never swap. I guess im in a better position to swap since Im already a hitscan main? Maybe they cant aim idk.

My point is people are lumping Widow in with Hela and Phoenix assuming they have the same focus and target priority. They don't. Thats the biggest issue.

My strongest games are when my dps partner is a tank buster. Squirrel girl, Hela, Phoenix, Punisher, Wolv, even Namor and Bucky are great dps partners for Widow. Iron Man is pretty good too, Storm obviously, and Starlord/Psy are somewhere in the middle. Actually those 2 are pretty similar to Widow in a sense where they excel with backline picks but can still help with tanks, shields, and deployables. Same as Widow.

She isnt made for super consistent damage, shes made for off angles, flanking, peeling, and picking off important squishy targets.

With that being said, I feel like when I play Widow I contribute more than if I just play Hela or Phoenix. Widow applies more pressure to the enemy backline, has great peels, great survivability. Her movement is better than both the hitscan sisters, you can fight me on that. The ability to constantly reposition and keep them guessing where you're peeking from next. The ability to stop a dive as its happening and regroup with your team.

1 headshot makes the enemy strats retreat, potentially needing to give up LOS on their team for a minute. If I have a Squirrel girl or something applying constant backline pressure, everyone dies in 1 tap to the head.

Widow's ult is a free support pick, usually a double support pick, sometimes a team wipe (And its better than Hela & Phoenix's ult, it just requires more thinking & set up)

Widow's movement is more consistent.

Her headshots are infinite value if you can hit them consistently.

TLDR: If you think a good Widow player would get more value just by picking Hela/Phoenix instead, you don't understand Widow's purpose or how she should be played. They have completely different jobs. Its like saying Psy would play her role better if she just switched to Hela.

If you've been playing Widow like Hela, you're doing it wrong.

I lose so many games to Mag and Ironfist

I never feed Mag ult or shoot Ironfist block, but my teammates do every single time I swear to god it's actually starting to get to me.

Im playing support, you best know my teammates are charging that ult FULL.

Iron fist flies into our backline, I bait the block, he uses it, Im waiting until the block ends to shoot but all I can hear is SHING SHING SHING SHING as my teammates feed his block to max overhealth.

It just leads to so many unnecessary deaths, and inevitably the L which easily could have been avoided if they just stopped. Nah, they gotta look for literally anything else they can blame aside from the real problem.

Also yes this is above metal ranks.
