How strict is UPM regarding AI checkers?

Incoming freshman here. Im not ai dependent or anything, but im concerned by how some universities are reliant over results shared by ai checkers. I was just wondering, how strict are the professors regarding their students' written outputs? During shs, i also had teachers who were strict, but they also made some adjustments given that the checkers were far from accurate. For instance, my research teacher would ask for a link of our google docs to check the history (if it was copied & pasted). Are there other ways to help prove to the professors that what you've written is 100% human?

Org Fair

Hello! I was not able to register since i am a recent manual appeal passer (pre-med course). So, i cant attend the event to check each group out carefully. Are there orgs that i should look out for? I heard frat recruiters can be very friendly towards the students, so it's difficult to distinguish which one is safe to which one is shady. Also, is it still possible to attend the freshiewalk and org fair even though i wasnt able to register? Thanks in advance!

BSPH Manual Appea Passer

Hello! I am in need of severe help. I contacted UPM earlier, and they said na non-negotiable yung medical and RSA orientation. Nasa visayas kami right now. Kelan po kaya yung RSA orientation ng bs public health for manual appeal passers? (Kanina ko lang natanggap). And, will there be an instance na required kaming pumunta sa PGH or can we settle through and through sa outdoor clinics?

Nonato's boarding house

Hello po! Currently living dito sa may barangay sapa for a while/quite some time now. Maganda naman at accommodating sila dito. My only problem is the internet. Right now, parang mas mabilis yung mbps ko kung data gamit ko instead of their internet home provider. Sa mga seniors na diyaan nag BH, any tips? Ayoko rin kasi po bili nang bili ng data

Is there something i need to do so that i can get my stipend/benefits while studying here? Like, do i need to pass something first? We still havent been given our student's portal. And, our flight to iloilo is quite close

Inquiry on Student Directory

After clicking 'Confirm Student Directory,' is it still possible to edit the informations there? We only plan on looking for dorms/boarding houses once we get there. Also, for some reason, i cant find my vaccine card. Do we need to upload anything related to it to the CRS, or are they just asking if whether you've taken shots?

Bridgers Program

Hello! I just received an email from UPV, stating that i have to attend their onsite brindgers program from july 27 to august 7. Is it possible to have it rescheduled, or am i really required to attend the entire sessions? We're still saving up for the flight🥹 and, now that we have to go there earlier than planned, it's expected that the tickets will be more expensive🥹🥹

Incoming BS Chem student (help!)

Hi, I just wanted to ask a few questions. I’m from NCR, and this will be my first time living alone, so I’m both nervous and excited. 🥹 If anyone knows the answers, I’d really appreciate your help!

  1. Are there any churches near UP Visayas (Miagao)?

  2. Are there any nearby print shops? Around how much do they usually charge? We have a pretty old printer at home, but I’m assuming it’ll stay with my sister instead of coming with me to Miagao.

  3. Do you have any tips for learning Hiligaynon? (+ what language is most used in the campus?)

  4. Any advice for an incoming BS Chemistry student?

  5. How are the professors? Do you generally enjoy their teaching?

  6. Is it difficult to get good grades, especially if you’re trying to maintain a scholarship?

Thank you so much in advance!

What's the best (free) note-taking app?

Hi! My mom recently bought me a tablet for the upcoming school year. It’s not from a well-known brand, but it’ll mainly be used for school (I’m an incoming freshman, by the way).

I’d really love to use it for taking notes. Do you have any recommendations for free note-taking apps? Most of the ones I’ve found either require a subscription or limit the number of pages or documents you can create.

Preferably, I’d like an app that lets me easily switch between writing with a stylus (bibili pa sa shopee =D) and typing with a Bluetooth keyboard for convenience.

Thanks so much!

Manual Appeal Stories

Hello! :) asking lang sana, pampagaan ng loob. Are there any students here who once had a upg of 2.4xx (closer to 2.3xx than it is to 2.5xx) who got in via manual appeals? Today, i got rejected at the last batch of general appeals. I wasnt as sad as i was before, but I definitely still have a lot of regrets. Im very reluctant to enroll at this one state university that i got into kasi fcfs siya. As much as possible, i want to avoid this school at all costs kasi lumipat na kami sa province and ayokong mahirapan yung nanay ko:( nahihirapan na siyang lumakad at mahina na siya. though, i also dont want to expect much sa MA kasi alam kong masasaktan lang ako. Anyways, just wanted to ask

  1. What campus did you get accepted into?
  2. What program?
  3. How did you cope after receiving initial news that you did not pass any of your appeals (excluding MA)?

Im aiming for a DOST accredited degprog, but i'd like it to still be aligned with my interests. I want to pursue med sana, and up is my only chance of making that dream come true (too poor. Though may ibang up students na hindi nakakapasa, my chances of getting into upcm (or any public medschool) will be higher relative to those who come from other universities).

Medyo nalukungkot lang kasi ako, hence im desperately looking for past experiences of successful stories.

Thanks!:)

Need Help Clarifying Freshman Requirements

Hello! Overthinker si baks 😭 Anyway, I just wanted to reach out for clarification.

I was about to fix my admission documents, including the request letter for Form 137. However, after checking the PDF file they sent, it seems that it wasn’t included yet, so I assumed I might be too early.

Upon reading further, I saw that freshmen are only required to submit their Form 138 for Grades 11 and 12, and that Form 137 isn’t required at this stage unless you took a gap year. Is my understanding correct?

I also plan to attend DOST’s orientation tomorrow in NCR, but I’m currently in the province, and travel expenses are expensive. Since I’ll already be there, I was planning to visit my school registrar as well to process my requirements for PUP.

As for my checklist under List 2.1, I already have everything except for my chest X-ray, health form, and duly signed waiver/confirmation slip, which don’t seem to be required when requesting documents from my school registrar.

Given this, should I wait for further instructions and not submit anything yet? Sorry, ayoko lang masayang pamasahe namin :') Tsaka, medyo sabog kasi ako ngayon. Haven't slept well these past few days due to stress :')

UPV Appeal & Enrollment Concerns

Good morning everyone. For context about my situation, my parents have finally allowed me to apply for appeal to UP Visayas despite living in Luzon. However, there’s still no certainty that I’ll get in, especially with a UPG of around 2.4xx. Still, I want to try because studying in UP would give me a better chance of pursuing my dream of working in the medical field.

Tomorrow, I will also attend my DOST scholarship orientation as I am a recent scholar. At the same time, I plan to submit enrollment requirements to another state university as a backup since there’s still a chance I won’t get into UP. If I proceed with that university, I may need to take a more practical path instead of chasing medicine, since our family can’t afford medical school. In that case, I would focus on helping my family financially.

As I understand it, the F137 can only be requested once. My enrollment in the other university is scheduled in July, which is still within the UP appeals period. However, our province is quite far from my DOST orientation venue (we previously lived in NCR but had to move last minute due to financial reasons), so my mom wants me to complete and send all requirements in one day.

My question is if I submit my requirements to the other university first, will that affect my ability to enroll in UPV if I get accepted? The other university requires that the Form 137 not be stamped or sealed by another institution under a different admissions system. Is UPV strict with situations like this, or is there a way to still proceed if I get accepted later? My high school registrar said that if I want to appeal to UP but still submit my requirements, I would need to ask the state university I’m enrolling in to forfeit my submitted documents, since I cannot request another copy.

I passed the DOST Scholarship, but I'm sad.

Many students would do anything to secure a slot, while I was actually hoping I wouldn't pass so that I wouldn't feel guilty about appealing to a program at UP that isn't accredited by DOST. Yesterday at noon, I watched the livestream and saw my name on the list. I even received an email about the upcoming orientation at PICC in Pasay City.

UP has always been my dream, but I wasn't able to secure a slot, especially with a UPG as low as mine (2.4). My plan was to appeal to a degree program that I genuinely liked at a less saturated campus to improve my chances of getting accepted. I was very hopeful because I really love the degree, but now that I passed the DOST Scholarship, I feel like I have to rethink everything so that I won't waste the benefits. Financial assistance is also important to me since my family is low-income.

What makes it harder is knowing that many applicants are planning to appeal to highly competitive campuses like UP Manila, UP Los Baños, and UP Baguio. I was also hoping to attend medical school in the future, but now I feel pressured to be more practical because med school seems like such an ambitious goal, especially for someone who may struggle to afford it.

It just sucks. I know passing DOST is a blessing, and I'm grateful for it, but right now it feels like the result has complicated all the things taht I heavily considered:( any tips? Badly need some.

How competitive is Computer Engineering compared to other engineering programs?

TL;DR

Good day! I hope this post allows me to share my situation because honestly, it’s really messy right now, haha.

Ever since I was young, I wanted to become a doctor. But along the way, I realized that I also developed a strong interest in mathematics and computational sciences. Another important thing to know about me is that we are EXTREMELY poor. Because of that, I started considering programs that are both practical and aligned with my interests, especially ones that could help me work immediately after graduation instead of spending more years and money on NMAT preparation and med school.

My strong suits are Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. I graduated from a science high school with a general average of 97, and Physics was one of my highest subjects throughout senior high school. I think it’s safe to assume that I can somehow handle computation-heavy and analytical subjects kahit pa-pano.

To my surprise, I passed PUP Sta. Mesa, though enrollment is still on a first come, first serve basis. My schedule is on July 16, which feels pretty late compared to others. My first choice NOW is Computer Engineering (it used to be psychology when i first applied), but I also have backups like Applied Mathematics. My biggest fear right now is losing slots before my enrollment date.

At the moment, I’m already enrolled in another state university, but I’m considering pulling out my requirements if I decide to pursue PUP instead. We recently moved to the province, so I was already expecting to transfer schools anyway. However, when my relatives heard that I passed PUP and planned to take Computer Engineering, they became really supportive and even offered to help with my living expenses IF I choose PUP.

My main concern now is

How quota is Computer Engineering in PUP? Is July 16 too late to realistically secure a slot? I’m especially worried because I heard that some students were already given programs directly during the release of results on their portals.

If I pursue this path, I think I’m finally ready to let go of my dream of becoming a doctor and focus on something more practical and sustainable for my situation.

how do i retrieve my requirements? [FRESHMAN]

Hi! for context, im about to submit my advisory 2 requirements online. my deadline for onsite submissions of the documentaries are on June 3. while i do plan to submit them, my parents have informed me that we might live in the province 1-2 months from now due to financial issues. she encouraged me to submit my documents (since it's the only school so far that i've secured), but if we do end up transferring abodes then im also forced to enroll at a school near us. we cant afford dormitory costs and other living expenses.

i've read reddit posts on subjects like these, but i've yet to see one where babawiin yung requirements AFTER you physically submit them. please help a girl out D:
