I just watched this episode on Hulu tonight and I had almost forgotten how kind Dorothy was to this kid - despite him being rude and a brat to them all initially. Warmed my heart. ♥️

Anyone attend Century College's Kitchen & Bath Design - Certificate Program?

Hi all,

By chance has anyone on here (or anyone you know) attended Century College's Kitchen & Bath Program? Any thoughts or insight into the program would be appreciated.

I am considering a career in Kitchen & Bath Design (I currently have a BFA in another design field - and seeking a career pivot), and have been trying to learn as much about the program from the faculty/director at the school - in addition to gleaning as much from graduates of the school, and those in the industry (via LinkedIn). Still gathering as much insight before I decide to commit to the program (and taking on new loans/time investment).

I know this may be a long-shot but felt like trying!

Thanks in advance!!!

Can a Aldi team member provide insight into the Part-Time Store Cashier/Stocker roles?

I hope this question isn't inappropriate and allowed on this subreddit but I am considering applying for a part-time retail role at Aldi and just saw an opening for a Part-Time Store Cashier/Stocker at a new store opening in my area of the Twin Cities, MN.

Not having any insight into how things work at Aldi, I was wondering if someone could explain what the expectations would be in terms of availability, hours, etc? I do see a mention in the job description that the ideal candidate would have to flex as a both a cashier AND stocker (with an expectation to be there at 5am to stock). Does that mean ALL of the shifts will start at 5am? Or does it differ based on store needs? Thanks in advance!!!

PS: Posting the responsibilities below for reference!

Cashier Responsibilities:

• Properly utilizes the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and informs store management of scanning concerns or errors.
• Adheres to cash policies and procedures.
• Follows the line policy and opens additional check lanes as required to ensure an efficient checkout.
• Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers’ vehicles from the staging area.

Stocker Responsibilities:

• Stocks shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales.
Stockers must be able to arrive to work as early as 5:00am.

Anyone have any experience with this BedStory Mattress on Amazon?

I apologize in advance if this has been covered (and I missed it despite searching in earnest on this subreddit) but I am new to BedStory and am looking for a Medium to Firm mattress under $300-ish, and came across this company. I am most confused about how different the Amazon offerings are (style/naming convention/firmness & pricing) from BedStory's actual website; so wasn't sure why Amazon's were vastly different. If anyone has any insight here, it would be greatly appreciated. I pasted a link to the actual mattress itself for reference!

Bonus points for any insight into durability, comfort and maybe even edge support (when sitting on edge). Thank you!!!

PS: Lately, I have been suffering from occasional lower back pain, and came to realize after sleeping on a plush soft foam topper for years, that maybe it was the cause of my backpain (took me years to make the connection); hence why I am now looking into a Medium to Firm (not Extra Firm) hybrid mattress. I am not interested in 100% foam mattresses.

Anyone currently work (or worked) for "Two Bettys" cleaning service? Looking for some gig work while I figure things out.

I am an unemployed designer in a tough market for Design in general; looking for some gig work involving cleaning (residential and commercial). I just happened to come across Two Bettys, and did spend time reading through their Glassdoor page for reviews, but anyone have any insight into the company?

If there are other cleaning gigs you can recommend, I am open! I am new to gigs (considering I've been corporate for a long time), and just thought cleaning houses could be a great way to just make some money part-time while I work on landing a full-time dream design role.

Why cleaning? I did it in my early 20s long ago (dating myself here), and found it to be enjoyable since you are alone, cleaning (I am super meticulous) and it's mindless work to be honest. : ) I wouldn't mind putting on some good music or a podcast and cleaning away! I considered retail work, but just the thought of having to wait on people (cashier/store clerk) doesn't appeal to me. Thanks in advance!!!

56M, Non-Smoker, Healthy and no known medical issues - waking up with stiff fingers on right hand and can't make a fist. Usually gone within an hour of waking up.

https://preview.redd.it/fr0oe5j5u55h1.jpg?width=3035&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=050f0dcfc3ce9661a30dcd1f1403df1683653f0c

Hi all,

So glad I discovered this subreddit!!! So over the past month or so, I've been waking up with very stiff fingers on my right hand only; left hand is fine (for reference; I am right-handed). And I can't immediately make a fist. Within the hour or so, it slightly dissipates and I am able to go about my day with very little discomfort, and am able to grip things and make a fist. There is no tingling in my fingers either. Very warm water soaks seem to alleviate it upon waking, and cold compresses/packs (alternating between both throughout the day).

After experiencing these symptoms for a few weeks, I finally decided to go visit with an orthopedic doctor; and they took x-rays and decided to do bloodwork to rule out anything autoimmune.

All my bloodwork came back negative for rheumatoid arthritis, and during the actual visit, she reviewed the x-rays of both hands with me, and did not notice any signs of early arthritis (56 yo male here). I initially thought that the "knuckle pads" on my affected hand were related somehow, but she ruled them out as benign when examining my x-rays, and mentioned that my joints seemed healthy.

During the actual consult, I explained to the doctor that for the past few months I've been doing a lot of manual labor (painting/rollers/drywall/mudding, etc) and helping my partner remodel several rooms in his house. It's not my profession though; I am a designer by trade (working on computers/3D modeling/digital sketching) & currently unemployed. But I've been using this downtime to keep myself distracted and helping him out.

Considering my results came back negative, she's convinced I am experiencing overuse from repetitive activities; maybe gripping too hard (paint rollers/mudding tools), and to give my hand a rest; take NSAIDs, and she placed me on Diclofenac Sodium pills (2x a day - though I am not responding to it). She also recommended I start with Hand Therapy sessions (I have an appt. in 2 weeks).

Anyone else experience something similar (tradespeople/painters, etc?) and will it ever go away if I ease off from the activity? I am taking a break from the offending activities to see if there is any change. Would appreciate any insight here. Thanks in advance!!!

NOTE: please disregard my fingers/cuticles/skin around nails: I suffer from Dermatophagia/skin-biter (have been for decades).

Hi all,

Over the past month or so, I've been waking up with very stiff fingers on my right hand only; left hand is fine (for reference; I am right-handed), and I can't immediately make a fist. Within the hour, it dissipates, and am able to make a fist just fine with no pain or major discomfort the rest of the day. There is no tingling in my fingers; just that I can't make a fist immediately after waking up, and it hurts a bit when I try to do so. Very warm water soaks (or cold packs) seem to alleviate it upon waking (alternating between both).

Not sure what to make of it, and am trying to not freak out about a potential onset of a health issue like arthritis or carpal tunnel; but over the past few months, I've been helping my partner remodel/paint/drywall mud his house considering I am currently unemployed (work mostly with computers as a designer), and am wondering if I am developing some sort of hand tendonitis or just overexerting my dominant hand; causing this condition?

And prior to being unemployed, I always made sure to use wrist rests; and take breaks to avoid any carpal tunnel; so I would be surprised if it's related to working from home/excessive computer use.

I did go visit Urgent Care last week, and the attending physician (not my Primary) told me not to worry and his best guess is that it's early onset arthritis and upon looking at my hand, noted some raised bumps on my knuckles and associated that with arthritis. I did mention to him that the bumps themselves have been there for years but never got them checked. He is sure it's arthritis, gave me some recommendations (print-out) for exercises to do upon waking, Advil intermittently, and if it doesn't get better to visit with my primary in a few months.

Lastly, in my own self-troubleshooting, I discovered that sometimes if you sleep with your hands underneath your head/pillow while side-sleeping, that it can cause this condition; and so I've been sleeping with my arms straight at my sides to see if it alleviates it. TBD if it does (only been a week since I adjusted my sleep positioning).

Any insight here would be welcome, and thank you in advance!!!

Not sure what to make of it, and have been trying to troubleshoot any type of activity I may be engaging in that is contributing to it and the only thing I can think of is over the past few months, I've been doing a lot of drywalling/painting, and possibly not using the most ergonomic hand postures while working.

It's not my profession (I am in between corporate jobs) and helping my partner paint/decorate/remodel some spaces within our home. I am normally not used to working with my hands this intensely and I started assisting him a few months ago. Not sure if there is a correlation (tendonitis of some sort?), and it's catching up with me but at home/office, I usually use good ergonomic positioning when working at the computer (mouse/wrist pads) and I would be surprised if I am developing carpal tunnel.

I did go visit Urgent Care last week, and the attending physician (not my Primary) told me not to worry and his best guess is that it's early onset arthritis and upon looking at my hand, noted some raised bumps on my knuckles and associated that with arthritis. Edited to add: please disregard my fingers/cuticles/skin around nails: I am a Dermatophagia/skin-biter (have been for decades); and though it's gotten better, I still get the temptation now and then to bite.
