the whole show layout is based on tarot cards, even the 4 spirits are assigned to its corresponding nation, zodiac and gender partner. elf fana was a unique case because the body she reincarnated in have some of mars power (masculine) but the fire spirit left her for another fitting host once she got her own body
the show also have biblical references but there’s way too much to list them but the most obvious is the judgement day arc
asta’s existence is based on jesus christ, which is why he doesn’t have a biological dad
the paladin have a “angelic” appearance is a reference to how the devils can look like angel in disguise (2 Corinthians 11:14)
the five headed dragon in hino country is a reference to the tale of gozuryu & benzaiten
the demonology occult metaphor is a whole other thing

i’m pretty hesitant on putting gauche on either 1 or 2, his attack power are strong, he can reflect light, multiple duplicate of others with the same power but his mana stamina can be a problem to keep up with stronger opponents. overall, he can be on the frontline and backup also he’s very smart (confirmed by the author), he’s only second to zora in term of intelligent imo.
stage 2:
- magna (fire magic/soul chain)
his hardwork very much paid off. it’s an incredible spell and he also further his knowledge of magic with the help of zora. i think he deserves the second stage level
- zora (trap magic/incredible knowledge and skill)
- gordon (poison magic/alternating curses)
he have good attack power with poison and him knowing curses is a bonus. him and henry are a great duo
stage 3:
- henry (recombination magic)
unique magic power but unfortunately, his power take people magic away if they are too close. he’s a good combination with gordon and charmy and a great defensive with the hideout
- finral (spatial magic)
although stage 3, majority of the black bulls wins couldn’t happen without him because his magic is useful and good defensive against strong opponents

there’s so much plot about megicula curses in manga and anime like gordon’s family connection towards her, charlotte’s curse, and henry’s curse. now that she been defeated, the curse is still somehow happening so i think they will go into details towards it because if it’s not it would’ve been wasted potential
i’m confused on why we didn’t get a backstory on lucius, he was in a wheelchair (maybe he was cursed? actually the whole curse sub plot need to be explained bc what’s up with gordon’s family knowing megicula and other characters under curses just cause megicula been defeated doesn’t means the subplot should get thrown away it was so interesting 😭) and to get ahold of a demon powerful like astaroth he would’ve defeated the devil so did he make a sacrifice or something? also astaroth and asta have similar name which kinda make me think the author is hinting at they being related somehow there (i hope not though, i think that would lowkey be bad writing if it was canon so i hope it will stay a theory 💀) i rather believe the theory that the “asta have no dad” theory rather than the devil (or julius/lucius) being his dad lol it doesn’t make sense for the entire purpose of this series
