Finding good food in Skardu, why is it a pain?

We went to Sok valley & our driver suggested to eat beside the water as the guys are connected from the same village we did order and it turned out to be a disaster.

Next day we went to https://maps.app.goo.gl/HKsXf7HmKmdTDzKt6?g\_st=ic Raspal restuarant. Again poor quality. Dishes were cooked with oil that we could not digest even until next morning.

After having bad food for first two days decided to try home made from Balti Cuisine https://maps.app.goo.gl/WqeeFx29Kn8AEriL8?g\_st=ic
Again such a disaster. This was even big of a disaster as previously I had paid 5500-6000 PKR a dinner or brunch but this lady charged us 10,000 Rs. Again the quality of food was horrible.

Can someone recommend good food options we have only 2 days left and we are heading towards Deosai now and tomorrow we want to go Shigar.

First time visiting Skardu with family wanted to ask about hotel stays

So I have booked for 8th to 13th inshALLAH will be in Skardu and we are a family of 5 (3 children). We have checked prices for night stays for Shangrila, Himmel, Khoj Resorts & Oasis. We want to start exploring upper kachura and later on our 4th and 5th day we want to stay at Oasis but I am not sure if this is a good plan.

The Shangrila resort's Swiss Villa price I have recieved is 120,000 PKR which seems a lots of money and Himmel is around 50K, while Khoj's most premium stay is 69,000 PKR a night. Oasis have quoted 30,000 PKR for 2-separate hutts which I am not sure would work as we all 5 can not stay in one.

I have started to look around for options at AirBnB and not very hyped or instagram related hotels and see available options for 20-25,000 PKR easily.

Can someone suggest good options but with different sort of vibes, e.g a night towards the riverside but than a place to stay towards Cold Dessert or near Deosai National Park and something equivalent to Shangrila ofcourse in terms of the views?

Also if someone can recommend a 4x4 car with driver would really appreciate

Thanks

[Hiring] Lead Gen & AI Automation Engineer to Build an Omnichannel "Universal Intent Engine" (Contract -> Full-Time) $1-2.5K fix

The Mission

At MomentoTech, we design high-performance digital products and UI/UX systems for global founders across the USA and GCC/MENA. We are looking for a sharp, technical Automation / Systems Engineer to build our "Universal Intent Engine."

Instead of manual prospecting, we want a multi-channel automated system that listens to real-time market signals across the web, identifies software projects with a clear need for premium UI/UX services, enriches their profiles, and pushes them straight to our discovery pipeline.

Note: We are hiring an individual freelancer/contractor for this project, not an agency or external service provider.

The Technical Stack & Multi-Channel Flow You Will Build:

  1. Multi-Source Intent Scraping: Build a real-time monitoring and scraping engine to capture data from diverse high-intent sources:
    • Funding Signals: Scraping developer platform launches and global project funding databases.
    • Regional Growth Signals: Monitoring growth news for tech projects expanding operations or launching new digital apps.
    • Social & Community Intent: Scanning forums for buying intent phrases ("need an app designer", "revamping our product").
    • Inbound Tracking: Integrating traffic scripts to capture anonymous corporate traffic visiting our website.
  2. Data Enrichment Waterfall: Route the identified project or founder names into Clay. Build a data waterfall integrating contact search tools to find and verify the work emails and social profiles of the target technical decision-makers (Founders, Product Heads).
  3. Autonomous Notification Engine: Connect the entire ecosystem via Zapier / Make.com to feed these qualified, multi-channel prospects into our project pipeline, triggering immediate alerts for founder outreach.

Who You Are:

  • You are an expert in Clay, Zapier/Make, and writing custom web-scraping or API integration scripts.
  • You understand technical lead operations and know how to construct reliable data pipelines that don't constantly break.
  • You know how to filter noise from real intent so we only chase high-probability project leads.

Compensation & Path:

  • Budget Rate: $25 - $40 / hour (depending on technical experience and portfolio depth).
  • This begins as a project-based contract to get the initial multi-channel V1 live. If you successfully build a system that consistently surfaces high-intent UI/UX projects from these various channels, this role will transition into a permanent, full-time engineering position with our team.

How to Apply:

Send a DM with the subject "Universal Intent Engine". In your message, please include:

  1. A brief 2–3 sentence summary of a multi-source data or enrichment pipeline you have successfully built.
  2. Your estimated timeline to deploy a basic V1 connecting at least two of the listed channels into a Clay waterfall.

Senior UI/UX & Design Systems Lead trading corporate chaos for peace of mind | Open to Freelance or side projects as well

I am an 11-year veteran of the design world, and I am looking for my next long-term home in the UAE.

To be completely transparent: I am stuck in a highly political, toxic enterprise environment where technical governance is ignored, and rogue stakeholders try to bypass design engineering pipelines overnight. I am done trying to fix broken corporate cultures. I am ready to shift immediately, and frankly, I am willing to take a significant pay cut—up to half of my historical compensation if it means finding a healthy team, actual peace of mind, and a culture that respects proper execution.

If your company values doing the work right and needs someone to bring world-class structure to your digital products, here is what I bring to the table:

  • Design Systems Pioneer (Since 2017): I have been architecting scalable design systems, token frameworks (primitives/semantics), and Tailwind integrations since the concept first emerged.
  • Heavyweight Industry Background: Proven track record leading UX strategy for specialized global luxury hospitality brands and scaling cutting-edge, AI-native product companies.
  • Chaotic Stakeholder Management: Master at navigating complex organizational landscapes, aligning cross-functional dev teams, and translating high-level business goals into air-tight digital architecture.
  • Agency & Startup DNA: 11 years built on raw merit, speed, and pixel-perfect technical execution.

I want to work where quality matters and professionals are left to do what they do best. If you are a founder, a product VP, or a talent acquisition lead looking for a tier-one design leader who is ready to hit the ground running, let's connect.

DM me to review my portfolio and chat about how we can build something great together.

Senior leader bypassed design, dev, and the product team using AI—and everyone is too terrified to stop him

I work in UX/Design tokens and governance for a massive, highly regulated global enterprise. We have established, strict design processes, and my team has spent weeks doing the heavy lifting to map complex design tokens, Tailwind configs, and semantic color frameworks across multiple UI libraries to keep our global ecosystem unified.

Then this happened. A senior guy on the product side who is completely non-technical decided to bypass our entire design process, the developers, and even the specific business unit actually responsible for this initiative. He used Claude to "design and build" a complete mobile app from scratch. He has zero application of our semantics, primitives, or core design system libraries. Now, he is going straight to the CEO for sign-off to push it live, claiming it's 100% ready.

The worst part? The office politics are suffocating. This guy has incredibly tight connections with upper management. Another senior person on our team is completely terrified of him and his connections. Because of this fear, they refuse to audit his work or act as a total pass-through manager and will never go against him or flag the massive risks here.

This app requires strict data privacy, security and backend integrations. Bypassing engineering, accessibility, and compliance for an enterprise-level app using rogue AI code is a recipe for disaster. But the culture here is so broken right now that political connections trump actual governance and people are too scared for their jobs to speak up.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of organizational culture where a connected senior leader can completely bypass design systems and engineering pipelines via AI? How do you protect your peace, your design governance and sanity in an organization that allows this?

Seeking Advice: 1M AED Budget. Is Khorfakkan Resort a hidden gem or a risky investment?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been living in the UAE since 2021 and have saved around 1M AED. I’m looking to invest this capital with a 2-3 year resale horizon, or potentially hold until 2030. While many feel the real estate market is slow as of now but I see this as my family's last window to buy especially with developers offering handovers at a 30% down payment.

We’ve done a lot of ground research across the Emirates, but hit several roadblocks:

* **Ajman (Al Rashadiya):** Felt far too overcrowded.
* **Ajman (Al Zorah):** Beautiful, but priced well above our budget.
* **Sharjah (Maryam Island):** Fully sold out.
* **Dubai (JVC):** Good potential, but the 1BHK layouts feel too small.
* **Ras Al Khaimah:** Prices are inflated due to the Wynn Casino effect (e.g., 1.3M AED for a tiny 650–750 sq. ft. off-plan unit).

This brought us to **Khorfakkan Resort** by Asas Real Estate (the property arm of Sharjah Islamic Bank, which has an excellent reputation). It's located right on the Corniche next to the ADNOC station.

**The Pricing & Structure:**

* **1BHK:** 850K – 900K AED
* **2BHK:** 1M – 1.5M AED
* **3BHK:** 2.5M – 3.5M AED
* **Payment Plan:** 30% down for handover, remaining 70% post-handover until November 2029.

**The Pros:**
It is incredibly distinct and scarce. It offers direct beach access, mountain views, a calm vibe, and stunning vistas from the gym and balconies (facing the waterfall, mountains, and stadium). Total supply is limited to just 573 units. While visiting the developer's office, we saw a lot of local Emirati buyers snatching up units quickly, likely as second homes or vacation properties.

**The Cons & My Concerns:**
Khorfakkan currently has low demand for high-end units. The population is mostly local, there is no major expat community, and while local weekend tourism is strong, international tourism is quiet compared to places like RAK.

**My Questions for the Community:**

  1. If locals are buying these as secondary vacation homes, who will the rental market be? Do you think there is genuine demand for premium rental yields here?
  2. Given the scarcity of beachfront property on the East Coast, does this offer strong capital appreciation for a resale in 3 years?
  3. Would you park 1M AED here, or keep looking in Dubai/RAK despite the smaller sizes?

Would love to get your overall opinion on the ROI and viability of this project!
