Would you read this?

Hi all I'm new to this sub but not to the genre and I'm not sure if this is against the rules of the sub so forgive me if it is but I have a question I'd like to ask you all!!

So I'm a transmasc writer (not published yet) and I've always loved the idea of writing a series of extreme horror stories with trans main characters that focus on their identities in unsettling or graphic ways as a means of social commentary. Things like self-mutilation, out of body/surreal experiences, haunting, possession, etc. to sort of represent what we as trans people actually go through in a series of fleshed out, spooky stories.

I know the world is a scary place for us right now, so maybe no one wants to read that kind of thing, and I also don't encounter a lot of trans rep in the extreme books I read, so I have no clue if this is an idea I should actually pursue and attempt to self publish or if I should just keep this one in the drafts.

Would love any thoughts you fellow freaks have on this!!

UPDATE: i decided to be brave :)

hi guys!! posted on this sub for the first time a lil bit ago asking all my fellow adult plushie lovers how they cope with feeling “childish” or embarrassed by this hobby and how i was scared to start collecting/expressing my interests again.

i have a lil update for you all - thanks to all your kind messages and encouraging words, i bought my first plush in years today while out with my friends!! nobody made me feel silly for it and now i have a new addition to my small beanie boo collection from my childhood :,)

his name is oakie and i love him so much im so excited to build my collection of beanies :D i really couldnt have done it without your support. thank you to everyone who told me the truth: that enjoying something so wholesome is nothing to be ashamed of, and we should all be proud of who we are.

moral of the story: be brave. be yourself.

how do you guys do it?

hi guys im not sure if this is the right sub for this so i apologize if im in the wrong place but i just wanted to ask for some advice.

i’d love to know: how do you adult plushie collectors enjoy your childhood interests without shame?? i feel so self conscious buying and collecting stuffies, so much so that i barely do anymore. how are you all brave enough to carry your little friends with you, dress them up, play, etc. ??

for context im 22M and diagnosed AuDHD + BPD and i have always loved stuffed animals. i used to have a huge collection but almost all of them are gone now except my 3 Build a Bears. id love to reconnect with that part of myself because i think it would help heal my inner child, but i cant seem to look past the shame at doing something so “childish” at my age.

any words of wisdom would be highly appreciated!!!

EDIT: thank you all so much for the lovely comments 🥹🥹 my family was never the most supportive of my hobbies and interests (tbh they still arent) so i really appreciate this community for reminding me that theres no shame in loving what you love 🫶🫶

Need Advice From Fellow Romantasy Writers/Readers

Hey guys, I’m new to the platform as a whole but I’m starting to write my very first spicy romantasy Webnovel this week and I’m just wondering what the expectations are for pacing of the romance?

Will my readers get bored if it takes a while for steamy scenes to come? How often do they typically happen in a story on Webnovel?

I know Webnovel is becoming notorious for platforming smut, but I still would like to know what readers of my genre truly prefer. Is it really all smut all the time? I don’t mind that, I just want to know what people might expect from me so that I can think about pacing :)

My novel isn’t going to be a slowburn by any means, but I just thought I’d ask for any introspection on this from readers or fellow writers since I haven’t read very many webnovels yet (I’m going to tho!)

Waiting In The Sky - a dark sapphic fantasy

When a sentient shooting star crash lands into Carolina Callista's gardens claiming that a great danger is coming, she doesn't quite know what to think.

Especially not when the star -- who answers to the name Whimsy -- is unlike any moonchild she has ever met before.

Soon enough, Caroline is utterly transfixed.

But it'll take more than the pair's growing connection to save the moonchildren from what's to come.

Which just begs the question: what sort of magic does it take to banish monsters born from nightmares?

advice for someone returning to medium

hey guys im looking for some advice from experienced medium writers.

i used to use medium when i first started freelancing back in 2022, and have returned a few times but never really stuck with it. because i didnt ever post very consistently, i never earned more than 50 cents.

but im hoping to come back to the platform and post consistently because i miss blogging and want to grow my audience and reach as a writer.

any advice for how to come up with ideas for posts, how to stay consistent, earning expectations, etc would me much appreciated!! i usually write mostly lifestyle content and about music, freelancing, and my experience fiction writing. not sure if i should niche down for wider reach or stay in multiple?

(this post may be a bit rambly and incoherent; its late at night, please forgive me)

hey guys im an aspiring author who predominantly writes fantasy with horror and romantic elements on Wattpad.

looking for some advice!!

im currently re-envisioning my plans for my work and what projects i want to focus on, and Royal Road seems like a really intriguing platform with an active userbase that i could benefit from, but im not sure what genres are generally accepted aside from the obvious litRPG (which i have very little knowledge of and have never read, though it sounds genuinely interesting)

i have tons of outlines for various fantasy projects, but most feature queer leads and have a subplot of romance. lots of horror elements woven in too.

im not sure if thats what readers are looking for on RR. so i always just stuck with Wattpad.

i guess my question is: should i continue writing what i want and see if it does well on RR? or do i give litRPG a try?? or maybe RR is just not for me …?

either way i would love any good recs to read on RR as im new to the platform as a reader too!!

hi guys im currently writing a story and am considering publishing to webnovel and doing a contract, but i have a few concerns about the contract that i cant find answers to.

i already have a work in progress book that i post on wattpad, but its unrelated to the book i want to sign. so would continuing to post separate works on wattpad be considered a breach of contract?

moreover, if i supposedly *have* to pitch everything i write to webnovel within the first year because of priority rights, am i allowed to decline their offers if i want and publish the new stories elsewhere??

sorry if this has all been asked before im new here, would appreciate anyone able to clarify

hey guys im a new writer planning my first web novel and i need some advice.

im planning on uploading 1-2 chapters daily and most likely want to try for a contract but im just wondering how many chapters i should drop the day my book goes live??

ive seen some people say no one will read if there isnt enough content upfront, so how many chapters should i stock up on before i start posting??

any advice would be highly appreciated :)
