I played GTA: Liberty City Stories on my phone for the first time.
A surprisingly enjoyable GTA installment, and a worthy port to mobile devices.
The story is quite gripping, with Tony helping Salvatore completely take over Liberty City. The mafia-themed narrative is truly enjoyable to watch. The missions, overall, aren't quite as polished and structured as other installments, but they certainly deliver the GTA experience – drive, beat, kill, blow up, steal, escape, and encounter several unique LCS-specific situations – and it was all quite engaging.
The gameplay itself is also worth noting. The cars handle very responsively, much better than in III/VC, almost on par with SA. I've probably tried more than half the game's vehicles, and there aren't any truly terrible ones. Each one is enjoyable to drive, but they have their quirks. For the first time, they've given you the ability to dual-wield weapons—it's awesome, something I've missed in previous 3D games. Specifically, the Android port now allows for both manual and auto-aim shooting, which is very convenient. Auto-aim is a huge help, but sometimes you just want to shoot yourself. If I'm not mistaken, this wasn't possible in III/VC, and in San Andres, you couldn't dual-wield weapons in San Andres; you had to switch to the menu (but I could be wrong).
