So. Many. Apps

Mini rant.

Got my EV about a month ago and I love it. Unfortunately we won't have the home charger installed til end of September so I'm stuck using public chargers. And good god, there are so many apps. I've installed 8 different apps and don't think I've used the same one twice. Every time I go to a public charger I spend the first 10 minutes setting up a new app.

This is an absolute first world problem but man I wish there was a more unified system and it was just handled by esb or something.

Also if I'm the dumbass who missed the secret cheat code for this, please let me know. You'd save me a lot of hassle 😂

Sigen EV Charger?

Hey folks,

In the process of getting solar panels installed along with an EV charger. We've decided to go with Mitros, and they've recommended a Sigen EV charger. I had planned on getting the Sync EV, as I'd heard good things on here, but it seems they don't do it. Anyone have any experience with this one?

Dinos Are Danger to Guests - No Idea Why

Hey folks,

I only just started playing JWE3, and I've never played any of the others. Absolutely loving it so far, but I'm having a weird issue in the park in China. A few of my herbivores are permanently labelled "Danger to Guests" but they are showing as happy. I can't figure it out. I've searched the sub and online but can't find any help, so I'm hoping someone might know what's up. I've checked the boundaries of their enclosure, and all seems fine (and there are other dinos in the same enclosure who are not marked as danger to guests).

My safety rating is stuck down at 23% and I think this is the reason, so any help would be appreciated!

What's one genre you always bounce off?

I've seen a few posts recently about superhero TTRPGs and they made me realise that, while I'm a big comic book fan, I've never really enjoyed superhero TTRPGs. I can't put my finger on it. I loved making characters in M&M 2e but only got it to the table once. I bounce off sci fi as a GM, but that's because I'm less comfortable running sci fi games - I'm still happy to play them though. With supes, it's one of the few genres in TTRPGs that doesn't excite me.

Do you have any genre or type of game you just bounce off? Just don't enjoy it, or can't get excited for it?

Lighthearted "Palette Cleanser" TTRPG?

Hey folks,

I'm hoping you fine folks can help me. We just finished off a short campaign and are looking to move on to our next game. Our group tends to play a lot of dark fantasy, horror, or games with fairly heavy themes, but one of my mates said he needs a break from that sort of game. So I'm here looking for suggestions on something a bit more lighthearted and fun.

A friend suggested Brindlewood Bay and, while it is lovely, it's really not my vibe (and I'll probably be GM!). I was thinking of maybe The One Ring Starter Set where you play as hobbits, or maybe a more lighthearted Wildsea or Kids on Bikes? Any suggestions would be really welcome. Just something we can play for 3-5 sessions and have a bit of fun without worrying about getting murdered by nightmare abominations.

Cheers!

Darkening of Mirkwood - 1e or 2e?

Hey folks,

I really want to get the Darkening of Mirkwood to the table, and since I have all the TOR 1e books, I was going to use that edition. I haven't really looked at 2e, so I'm not sure what major changes it makes. I was wondering whether you think any changes or improvements in 2e would make it worthwhile to convert Darkening to 2e, or if I should just stick to 1e? (Or is there even any conversion needed!)

Struggling with deer hunting? Build an electric fence

Started the game a week or so ago, and I'm on around day 40. Absolutely loving it, but I am terrible at hunting with the bow. I've managed to kill one deer and wasted countless arrows, so I basically gave up on deer hunting.

Yesterday I was upgrading my base, adding traps and electric fences. Turns out if you have an electric fence, you don't need to be good at hunting - deer will just yeet themselves into the fence. I'm now overloaded with meat and pelts, to the point where I'm decked out in full hide armour, I have hide sofas and chairs, a hide bed, and still have more hide left over.

So there you go. Forget bows, get an electric fence.

EV Charging Stop Gap

Hey folks,

Just bought our first EV and picking it up tomorrow (24 Renault Scenic Alpine, 87kWh), but we won't have our own charge point installed until early August. Any tips or advice on charging it in the interim? A friend recommended the EzGoGo granny charger, but I'm conscious of damaging the battery. Likewise, am I right in saying I should avoid fast chargers unless it's an emergency?

Cheers!

EDIT: You're all legends, thanks!

TTRPG Book Storage Advice

Hey folks,

My TTRPG library has grown beyond what I have room for, so I'm going to store some of the less used books. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on storing them, boxes to use, and how to prevent warping. We have a well-insulated attic and a partially insulated shed. I stored a few of my hardback comics in a sealed plastic box in the shed, and sadly they've warped. I don't want my TTRPGs to suffer the same fate!

Any tips would be great

Pokémon Scarlet Strategy Guide For My Daughter

Hey folks,

My daughter (7) has recently been bitten by the Pokémon bug and is loving Scarlet. She is determined to catch all the Pokémon (particularly the dog types) and is currently desperately hunting down a Rockruff with Own Tempo to evolve into Lycanroc.

I bought her the handbook (printed by Scholastic) expecting it to have guides and advice on where to catch Pokémon, how to evolve them, and so on, but its basically just a picture book listing all the Pokémon and what they evolve into (not how to evolve them). Thankfully, she still loves it, but I want to get her something like the old strategy guides. Is there anything like that out there? At the moment, she comes to me for answers - and I haven't played since Gen 3, so I just come here for answers! I don't mind helping, and it's awesome to bond over Pokémon, but she also loves figuring things out and doing things on her own. If she had a book she could get the answers from and then surprise me, she'd be delighted.

Anyway, bit of a long shot but any help would be great. If the answer is no, then I'll just continue finding the answers for her on reddit!

Bought an EV - Home charger advice

So I just bought my first EV, a Renault Scenic Alpine, and can't wait to pick it up. In the meantime, we're in the process of getting solar panels and a charging point installed.

Very new to all this, so any advice on what we need would be great. Bonus points for solar panel installer recs!

Cheers folks

I designed Soulbound and I have a new game coming out

Hey folks,

My name is Emmet Byrne. I was the producer and lead designer on the Age of Sigmar Soulbound corebook and various supplements until the wonderful Elaine Lithgow took over (and absolutely smashed it!). I left Cubicle 7 two years ago to found my own company, Old Oak Games. Our first release was an Irish-inspired fantasy setting for 5e, and really helped establish the company. However, I've always loved creating my own games and wanted to move away from 5e and get back to designing my own system.

Today, I am incredibly excited to announce Ink Ribbon, a survival-horror TTRPG inspired by video games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Alan Wake, and more. Ink Ribbon uses a d6 dice pool system, and if you're a fan of the Soulbound system (especially the Grim & Perilous rules), I think you'll really like it.

You can follow the campaign here, which will give you access to a free 100 page PDF with all the rules, plus a nice chunky adventure.

Lastly, I just wanted to say that seeing how active and passionate the community is about Soulbound and what we created always makes me smile. Despite how things ended with C7 I will always love Soulbound and I'm incredibly proud of it.

Thanks for indulging me, and apologies for the shameless self-promo!

Will the 5k scrappage scheme run into next year?

After full time WFH for the past two years, I'll be back commuting from September. Been thinking of getting an EV, and the new scrappage scheme is enticing, but my current diesel is a 141. Wondering if anyone knows if the scrappage scheme will run into next year? Cheers!

EDIT: Cheers for all the responses, appreciate it. Looks like I may just bite the bullet and get one this year

Solo Horror RPGs (Not Journaling)

Hey folks,

Looking for recs for solo horror RPGs that are *not* journaling games. I have a few of those and I'm looking for games with a little more rules meat on the bones.

Thanks!
