Wealth through inheritance

Who else has come into their wealth through an inheritance? How do you move from a state of shock to one of gratitude? How do you figure out what to do with this money, especially if you didn’t have it in excess growing up? I’m not going to cash everything out and roll around it or go on a mad spending spree, but I feel overwhelmed and a bit frozen trying to figure out how to manage inherited investment accounts etc.

Inherited IRA and RMD

United States. My mother passed away earlier this year. My sibling and I inherited her IRA and have to start taking RMDs this year due to her age and the fact that she didn’t take RMDs yet for 2026. I’ve been told that one of the options for those funds is to have them reinvested in the brokerage account that I also inherited from her. How would taxes be withheld if I choose that option? I know that if I have the money sent me, it’s taxed as ordinary income and I can have taxes withheld upfront.

Bond funds - need help

I transferred an inherited brokerage account to Fidelity. The majority of this account were bond funds, which I want to liquidate and reinvest into something more cost-effective. If I transfer them to my cash management account and then invest somewhere else later, will fees be involved? Should I just wait until I know where/how I want to reinvest?

“Elevated evening attire”

Would you consider this a dressy jumpsuit? Wedding is the first weekend in June at a hotel in Austin TX. Attire option is a dressy jumpsuit. I have a dress that’s coming on Tuesday that I hope will fit. Will definitely add accessories.

Foundation repair

Anyone have a recommendation for home foundation repair, besides Olshan? I know they’ve been around for a long time but I don’t want to pay for their advertising. Would like to get more than one estimate.

Inherited bank accounts

In the US. Mom was in OK, I’m in TX. Probate should be ending soon. Bank accounts were frozen at her death. Sibling and I have been told by the attorney that accounts will be split between us after probate is over. I don’t know how much is in the accounts but probably over $1M. What are the tax implications here? I know there are FDIC limits and my share will likely need to be split amongst accounts and then invested somehow. This will be determined later with professional advice. Just wondering about immediate tax implications with large cash inheritance and deposits.
