Expectations for Arrastra

My main question is more geared towards the size of lasers and if you think they will have a wide angel of rotation. I know the built in refinery is going to be a huge selling point for a lot of people. However do you expect the lasers to also be bigger than the mole?

Also compared to Orion, I would expect the Orion to only be able to function in space not on planet. At very least Orion will probably be more of a prime target for pirates and requires some protection.

I am very much looking forward to seeing what the arrastra will become and I hope it goes on sale again during iae before launching. I never really was one for industrial gameplay mainly because of the refining process. I guess my expectations is for it to be a solid mining ship even solo and I hope that it will crack any size rock.

What games are you looking forward to? Here is mine

This isn’t me trying to promote any hype trains or what ever. Just games I’m looking forward to as an older(36) gamer.

My top two are ace combat and Star Wars pod racer. I have been out of the loop for call of duty but I am weirdly looking to see what mw4 will bring, probably sweaty lobbies but hey my late teens and beyond were call of duty. Finally under dog is ballistic brews. I saw a streamer play a test build of this and it look just so much fun. I normally am not one for rogue likes/lites but this one looked fun. The last one is hopium driven which is squadron 42. I am big lover of Star citizen and can not wait for sq42

So far next year is also looking juicy.

Why do you spend so much time obsessing over how much you hate Star citizen and cig?

Really genuine question here. Between normal sub and this sub all people do is show how much they hate everything. Yet they somehow still play, comment, post, engage in everything there is about the game. It’s like the tswift effect. I will never understand the level of obsessing over how much you hate something. I know if I hated a game my option is to just not engage in it. Like don’t play, sell your account or ships, unsub from everything related to Star citizen. Move on or just admit that you actually like it and maybe consider how you can help constructively address issues. Understand how we got here. Because “14 years, 1 billion” is rather nuanced and not just black and white. Of course it’s click bait and lemmings can’t help themselves. I just don’t get the obsession with spending time on hating something while playing the very thing you claim to hate.

Lastly sq42 will come out end of 2026. The writing is on the wall. End of September, beginning of October leading into the big event will give them about 2 to three months of marketing time which is more than enough for today’s gamers. If they do it any longer then people will just forget about it and complain that it’s not launching(goldfish with Alzheimer’s).

Now bring on the hate because we all know you lemmings can’t resist. Have fun spending time hating a game from a reddit sub and watch content about how much you should hate the game while posting and commenting about how much you hate the game.

Oh yes this post is a paid for shill account from CR himself. (sarcasm)

Nothing comes close to what this game offers

Despite the majority of posts on this sub, I can for sure appreciate what cig is making. I have been following since hanger sim days and been supporting for at least 8 years. I love everything this game has to offer despite the bugs that come and go. As someone who also tries to educate themselves on game dev(Unity and unreal) I can somewhat understand at a high level of how difficult what they have already was to make. The tech they are putting into the game, making it multiplayer, making the sim part feel like you’re living in the game. Lastly as a vr user who has always wanted this type of game. Nothing comes close to it.

Could someone else come back and make something like it? Maybe but it would take them probably at least 10 years to match what cig has done so far. Sure the bugs can be frustrating but seeing the systems that go into it behind the scenes is truly amazing and mind blowing. I have dabbled in cloud infrastructure with my 9-5, I have sql knowledge that I use everyday for troubleshooting and reporting. Maybe I am just uniquely positioned with hobbies and professional requirements that allows me to give CIG more grace than the tourists are able to provide.

So go ahead and swear off the game for a few hours, I know you will just swipe that card again when the ship showdown starts and your long awaited ccu chain pops up. You know it just as much as I do that this game is one of a kind. A few come somewhat close to it but nothing offers the full experience that this game offers. Don’t buy into alpha if you can’t handle the alpha. At this point you know what you are getting into and if you turn around to “hate on it” then you have only yourself to blame. I don’t need a YouTuber to tell me how I feel about games, especially this one. No game studio is perfect or will make a game perfectly. Any multiplayer game has bad monetization. DCS and war thunder come to mind. Not to mention elite is also do the same thing now. Cherry picking the Odin doesn’t do anything either. That is a level of rich that 98% of you will never achieve including myself.

Let the “leave Britany alone” bad takes and the down votes commence.

Looking for single player version of new world

I love everything about new world. Setting, combat, skilling, sound design, graphics. Just the whole package. I would like to try to get as close to that game as possible but either optional coop or just straight single player. I would like a modern looking game with strong deep combat. Skilling is fun but not required. Preferably nothing with too much grind but challenging.

I tried crimson desert but I just didn’t fall in love with it like I thought I would. Exploration is not something I look for in a game but I do it if it’s for unlocks. I’m not opposed to 2d games but not my forte. However I am willing to expand my taste. Elden ring or souls games seem like they should be right up my alley but I don’t like the dark aesthetic

My all time favorite games:

Skyrim
Ac black flag(yes I am aware of the upcoming remake launch)
New world
Kotor
Swtor
Jedi games
Star citizen
Elite dangerous
Battlefield(as a whole)
Blade and sorcery
Kerbal space program

Zero to Hero or Star citizen taxi?

I know there is a lot of zero to hero stuff on the tubes. Just curious what you would like to see if someone were to do a series where they start with a basic ship(Aurora mk2) without any extras. What would you consider to be the hero part of the journey? Certain money or getting to buy a certain ship in game? Is there specific kind of roles you would like to see? As far as I am aware the path usually involves just getting into a cargo ship and do hauling mixed in with bunker runs.

I think maybe it would be fun to show the community at work. Asking to be a gunner. Or seeing if there is room in a party to tag along with some basic gear.

Alternatively would you like to maybe see some weird stuff like just offer people rides to places and pick them up. Maybe ask some questions and yeah. Idk just seeing what kind of things people enjoy watching. I feel like combat cameraman was such a unique experience and he’s does a great job with those videos. I find just vods from streams are boring as heck personally. Seems like the off the cuff left field type stuff seems to be more interesting to me.

Lti BMM or Polaris or Hold out?

This is a tough one. I figured out a way to make my 400 credit stretch into two separate chains. With the help of a couple ccus I snagged from star hanger. I now have two ironclad bases one with lti and one with 10 year. My wish would be basically just a bigger version of the Perseus. How ever my current expectation is grab a Polaris for IAE and melt my current Polaris for a cheaper Polaris chain. BMM on paper shows it could be a more capable ship even in combat compared to Polaris, but obviously BMM is not soon. Also only cig knows which ships they have planned. So I guess ultimately my options are lti BMM which will 100% eventually pay off but it would be a long wait or lti Polaris and 10 year the BMM. I could also just not do anything until we know more about how things will change.

$400 store credit

I have Polaris and an m80. Both were ccu more so the Polaris. My thoughts were to grab a vulture and a prospector, but I keep seeing how the mole is just infinitely better for the current state of mining due to rock sizes. I am in no rush to spend it so just looking to see what would be best. I don’t really ever fly anything else other than the two ships I have. However seems like mining and salvage is going to be more and more “forced” than not. I’m up for really anything that’s useful. I can just go for a mole and then just buy a vulture flat out. Or other wise I could just get a reclaimer and save for a mole. Doesn’t have to be industrial and I didn’t mind hulking so I could stretch and grab a hull c for space trucking. But I think a vulture and prospector could fit on a Polaris at the same time. So just not sure what would be min maxing my store credit.

BMM copium or not a chance for IAE?

I never cared to look at previous alien week sales and if BMM is always on sale for it or not. Given it’s been in concept for 14 years or so. Could we finally see the BMM by IAE? I understand that things like odyssey and some other bigger ships are likely post 1.0. However I am thinking maybe this year is the year. Just seems like they are aware of how much people would fall over themselves to grab this ship and how long people have been waiting for it. Idk I like to be more optimistic these days than not so me it seems like they are really pushing to get stuff out sooner than later.

Things to do on vacation?

My wife and I are traveling to Wilmington in July. Just wondering what local spots are good, what people might suggest we could do on our vacation there. Staying for a week. She is finding some good spots to eat and we plan on hitting up the beach but if there are any local activities you would recommend or check out. We do not drink or party. We are in our later 30s and just making sure we don’t end up sitting in the hotel too much. We aren’t into hiking or major activities but if there is a nice walking area we could check out. Any suggestions would be helpful. Appreciate it ahead of time.

My experience with TB support

Short of it is I got a replacement due to warranty still covering it and it was a quick turn around. I am disappointed that I had to RMA the flight deck as it was not cheap. However the 1 year warranty is more generous than most in my opinion. Basically the person I dealt with was responsive and I was able to provide the video evidence needed of the issue along with pictures.

The whole process took two weeks from contact to getting a new one. I am in the US so that helped. I hope that this new one will last longer than 10 months of limited use. Just wanted to provide that anecdotal evidence with rma and easy back and forth.

Don’t fly without rebuy and nothing is permanent until 1.0

I am shocked at the amount of people up in arms about the insurance implementation. Maybe being an elite dangerous player prior to coming over to SC 8 years ago provided me with the mindset of be prepared to lose everything on top of dealing with frequent wipes from CIG at the time. It’s not just insurance either. I have seen people post on here about them putting all this time and effort into grinding mats and crafting then when a patch rolls through and deletes things they are upset. Play is if you could lose everything at any time. This is for us to enjoy the process of seeing the game grow and be developed. It seems like people are forgetting or maybe not understanding fully that this game is still under development. Nothing you see today will probably be the full implementation by 1.0. They have always said this insurance was not way they intend it to be and charging for insurance was always a thing. I remember back when people asked about how important lti versus 6 months was. I would always respond with no one knows what 1.0 instance will look like.

I understand that a lot of the concern for ship insurance comes from people losing their ships due to bugs and what not. So charging so much for when falling through a floor, or getting blown up for no reason, or trying to land and your ship rolls. There is a lot that needs to be addressed before 1.0. It is extremely valid to say hey maybe not charge so much, but there is also validity in needing a money burn somewhere in the game and making fuel and rearm super expensive is worse than ship insurance. If money never leaves players pockets then future economy in game will basically just make it impossible for everyone to be able to afford anything in the game.

So take this as a disclaimer in case all the ones on cig websites weren’t enough. Nothing we do is permanent, nothing you earn is permanent. Yes I know they say they have account bound blueprints but still I don’t see it as permanent until you get it in 1.0. This game is not finished and neither are the current implementations of the systems in the game. Provide feedback and point out things that need to be pointed out. Like why charge so much for whe it’s easy enough to loose a ship. However I don’t think it’s valid to expect free claims on a customized ship. Something like being able to loot parts of a dead ship should be allowed but make their resell value 0 would be another example. Heck make their whole system where once something is equipped on person or in ship be 0 value but still sellable to remove from inventory or even a trash system. That way crafted items are valuable and if players want to trade for used parts they still can but the shops won’t give people money for used parts.
