Are the yearly issues of JAH worth grabbing on sale?

I saw Breyer has the last few issues on sale. I used to get them when they were monthly as a kid and years later I loved looking through them still. I can't afford to be in the Club to get them normally but is it worth it to grab them just to browse and read?

My current collection!

Nothing fancy but I love them! Gilded looks so out of place 😂 As a child I used to have a good 45 or so, but I had to sell many of them when I moved out after college. Some of these remaining are my absolute favorites from childhood, the rest were gifts over the years or thrift finds + cheap SM blind bags. I recently posted Gilded here because he was my first in many years. I'm so happy I have a place to display them again!

Just got Gilded - I'm over the moon! He's gorgeous! My first Traditional model in years.

I fell in love with Gilded when I first saw him earlier this year! Something about how absolutely BRIGHT and saturated he is just draws me in. The gold has this incredible pink-rose sheen that just isn't captured in the advertisement images. He's tremendous!

I absolutely adore him and he's inspired me to start collecting other blue decorator models.

I got most of my childhood collection out of storage recently and fully intended on selling them off - instead I kept most of them because I fell in love again, aaaaand now I'm back into the hobby 🙈

My #49 Show Stance Morgan's legs are SO wonky! 😭 How should I fix this? Does anyone have a better version of the model they could take photos of on a flat surface?

I was gazing adoringly at my horses when I realized my Morgan's feet are all over the place and one isnt touching the ground at all! I got him NIB from a vintage collection many years ago and then stored him for about 10 more since, so I'm not sure how it happened, but I never looked hard enough at him before I guess.

Is there a way to fix this? Hairdryer? Hot water? Gnawing on them?

Also, if you own this model can you grab a photo of yours' legs for me from the same angles so I can see whereabouts they should actually be?

My beloved 2005s + Funky 💚

I adore Emoto-tronics!!! I used to have all the basic colors and the other US-release Funky, but I have since rehomed the rest and kept my favorites.

Top left is Milkshake, right is Strawberry Bun

Lower left to right is Orangeade, Kizuna, Truffle, and Joel (his eyelids are broken and don't open hehe)

I have a glass pan. Apparently I need to heat the oven to 350 F and 325 F simultaneously.

Betty Crocker brownie box has a typo that implies I need to bend the laws of science to achieve brownies.

(For the curious, the second one is correct; you lower the temperature and up the time slightly for glass pans)

Edit: Sending love and gold stars to the people who think I'm the dipshit that's not understanding something here. I understand the difference between 'or' and 'and'. It's a joke!

Remembering Rookie, my first betta 💜

I got him as my college dorm pet in 2014. He lived in a 2.5 gallon uncycled Critter Keeper, later upgraded to a 2.5 glass tank. I didn't have the means to cycle a tank first or get him a bigger one at the time - but I did know he deserved more than a bowl, and he also had a filter and a heater with some silk plants, not plastic. His hide was a little ornate porcelain teapot turned on its side, with the spout buried in the rock substrate.

He was such a little ham! So sweet and friendly, and absolutely GORGEOUS. I've never seen another betta like him in coloration (though I'm sure they exist, show me if you know of one!) and I would spend so much time just watching him. He had this piebald-like patch of cream around his head, stark black gills, pastel lavender scales, and shimmering light blue fins. His dorsal always had a brighter patch on the bottom half, even when his fins were more clear when I first got him. His little swimmy fins were almost invisible!

I loved him so much and I wish I had more time with him. Unfortunately he somehow ended up ripping a section of his tail fins off about a year and a half later; I still don't know how it happened, but he quickly went downhill and the tannins and medicine I ordered didn't get there in time before he was laying on the bottom of his tank, so I made the choice to euthanize him humanely. I miss him dearly and I'd return to the hobby in an instant just to have him again.

I hope to get a little custom model or plush made of him someday when I can afford it.

Love and miss you, Rookie!

What happened to Equine-Ranch?

I used to play it back in middle and high school, and told myself that when I grew up I would pay for premium so I could have more than Grade horses. I switched to other games by the time I had money and forgot about it, and now I see that the site is gone despite the Facebook having posts from 2024! I'm sad I completely missed a decade of it, but I can't find any goodbye posts or anything. What happened to it?

My little buddy Fun Dip!

Named after the candy! My friend got him for me at an antique mall. I love him and his rotating feet. He hangs from my trinket board and keeps me company while I do crafts

Anyone else finding their food sensory issues getting more & more in the way as they get older?

I'm entering my 30s. I've always been a picky eater, but not in a restricted/ARFID sense or that I won't try new things. Rather I just can be very picky with the exact texture and flavor I want for any given meal. But it's gotten worse the last few years, and I've even started venturing into total aversions recently when I have a negative sensory experience with a food, where I've been able to push through it easily in the past.

Like, the other day I put pecans on my yogurt cup, and there was a shell piece in the nuts. Normally this would be fine and I can just pick it out of my mouth. But this time I got so nauseous from it I had to throw the entire thing away and swish/rinse the mouthful out with water! I didn't feel better until my girlfriend bought me a safe food for lunch. I LOVE pecans but I can't eat them for now.

As another example, I now struggle to eat the same thing for breakfast more than 1 day in a row. This has been going on for 2-3 years now. I don't know why, but my brain just needs to have a particular thing or I will either feel icky or be "locked out" of the decision until lunchtime. Lunch has also gone from leftovers or sandwiches/wraps to mostly cold finger foods.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or is this a normal part of growing up? My dad is very autistic too but he's taken after his own dad and mostly eats the same exact meal for breakfast and lunch every single day. My girlfriend and last ex were also and can do the same, but I've never been someone who can eat the same thing over and over like that.
