How can we make it more livable for those living under the cost of living wages?

Now for this I'm going to say that I understand most things can't happen with the snap of a finger (minimum wage going up 6-7$/hour, retailers forced to drop prices/profits and all that for an idea). I'm also going to keep reality in mind on this, since working 2-3 full time jobs per person is also not going to help long term, nor is deportations and that sort of stuff.

I'm not going to regurgitate how I live and how hard it has been either, it just becomes impossible for the average person to survive on those types of jobs (no matter how abundant they are). I know some things have been tried (universal basic incomes, rents based on incomes), but nothing really worked as far as long term.

How many days are you guys at?

Idk if i should be impressed or insulted by my day count. I just play like 20 min a day so it isn't too bad, it's just because I've been playing for years

AITA for trying to trap a cat?

I have seen many posts about stray and feral cats coming around the neighborhood. More recently, I have been told that there's a big male coming around, spraying the back of the house, sleeping on my steps, then just taking off as soon as a car drives by or somebody turns their lights on. He comes around every few days, and from security footage of various neighbors cameras, we can see that he won't fit in raccoon traps, since he was spotted trying to go in not fitting, and starting to flail the trap around trying to get to the food.

Now I dont have a problem with stray and feral cats coming around, it's just the fact this one sprays. For those who may not know, that stuff stinks. If they wouldnt spray and dont cause damage, I dont have a problem with them sleeping on the steps or even living in the shed.

The concern that is repeatedly told to me is the risk of trapping someone's pet. It doesn't seem to matter if i show the trap is humane, or how often I say the only cat I really need to catch is the one who sprays, (maybe bring it to a shelter as a "lost pet", and if it isn't, they can at least get him neutered) they still always seem to argue about catching a pet, or getting rid of the strays that really helped with getting rid of the rats.

Now most strays are still decently friendly(some are approachable and they aren't destructive from what I see), and I'm all for a cat having some outside time, it just becomes a problem since theres always one that'll come and spray.

So the question becomes AITA for trying to trap a cat?

I'm going to my first competition, and I'm a judge

I have been watching judges decisions to try to get back in the groove of what to look for, what can sway a decision and all that. Now my friend is the head judge (since the first day the club was founded), and I just ended up having the owner message me letting me know a judge dropped out and asked me to step in.

I was wondering if there's any fights I should watch, anything I should know or whatever so I can catch up a bit?

What would be an average cost for a year of college (tuition and books only)

I was thinking of going to get my class 3e drivers license, and found out it would cost about 3000$ (I found some for 2500 but most hovered just shy of 3000), so I wanted to know where it would compare to a year of college. I mostly want it since I have nothing beyond high school, so it could open a few doors if my current job ends up not working out anymore.

Anybody know if theres still people collecting these?

I have a bunch of small ones still up there. I've never seen them that big or that close personally, and I know years ago there was a group collecting them, I'm just unsure if they're still is.

Turns out I had enough on my account!

I had enough money on one of my work accounts for an Amazon gift card, that had enough money for proud nordics! I'm planning on finishing run number 3 of ys 9 this weekend, then I should be able to start my run of ys 10 next week!

Finally found some of my favorite drinks

These are the only ones that don't give me chest pains or bad after flavor. I couldn't find any in about 3 weeks, but I finally found some, and managed to stock up. At least I'll be good for 12 weeks.

I'm not sure to what level, but I did call social just to inquire about the reason I got denied for the repair program (I make just above what they would accept). The worker did take my info and stated she would be sending a contractor within 2 weeks to take a report. Downside is I wont pick and choose what I get and who does it, but if my roof gets fixed, and my power comes back on without phasing, im happy

They've been a life saver last few weeks. I do have an electrician coming to correct those issues, but they have been handy

One of my friends daughter's had a report to do in school. Her report was mainly that canada as a whole has plenty of jobs, but over half is retail/low paying jobs. She believes that if more jobs that would open up that would pay closer to the cost of living, it would force those retail jobs to either pay more, or for minimum wage to go up closer to the cost of living.

I'm not going to cite every reference or all the research she did, but almost everything that pays 25$/hour+ (close to cost of living wage), is specialized, or you would have to work 2-3 jobs (some cases overtime is added as well) just to make close to it.

The report was made by an early teens, so although I understand it would not fix everything, and it may have flaws, I moreso got curious on how to add more jobs that pay better in nb.

I finally got through to somebody this morning, and unfortunately I can't qualify as I earn more than they will accept. I also already own my home outright, so that became the biggest factor in the decision.
