IIT Ropar (Eng sci) vs BITS Pilani CSE

Please help me with the choice.. I hear bits has better placements but is it okay to skip the iit tag? Also is eng sci like cse? They give you cs specialisations like ai, robotics, cybersecurity, quantum etc.. can a senior actually discuss the scene in ropar? I hope companies will not filter out eng sci?

If I get my first preference should I freeze or float?

I got Pilani CS at 323 marks but got zero scholarship. I don’t qualify for MCN scholarship. I heard from a senior last year got 50% merit scholarship at 327 marks, but in later rounds.

If I freeze now, will my scholarship upgrade in later rounds? Or should I just let it be till last round? I am confused if freeze is mandatory for accepting a seat or not?

MnC vs CS in Pilani campus

I checked the syllabus of both MnC and CS, and talking with some seniors, they say that MnC has more upto date syllabus with courses like Stochastic Calculus and Application to Finance (which seems quant centric) and exposes you to better problem solving skills rather than muck up pure CS theory, plus option for more open electives?

I know CS theory like OS, DBMS, Networks, Micro-processors are important fields but I've heard these topics are not what current market demands and can be studied with electives in MnC branch.

Is it true that MnC makes you a better problem solver and the mathematical rigour helps you in competitive coding? Or is CS still king?

What marks are required for the 50% and 100% Merit Scholarships?

I heard someone last year got 50% scholarship at 327 marks. I this correct? What is the expected this year? Does anyone have the previous years data?
