What is Moto Guzzi hiding?

About their gas tanks? So I'm cross shopping Moto Guzzi v7 with some other bikes like bonnivilles and something I've been amazed by is how much more range the guzzi gets. Its tank is almost twice the size of competitors while similar mpg. So, like, why isn't Moto Guzzi leaning in to this? This seems like a pretty major selling point. Is there something not actually true about its tank and mpg numbers, or... what's the catch? If I were a Moto Guzzi marketing exec I would just rename the v7 something like "big fucking tank modern retro bike".

Thoughts on the LCD display of very recent Moto Guzzis?

Like for the tachometer and speedometer they're all LCDs now. I'm writing to ask what are you guys' thoughts on it? I'm cross shopping some v7 Stone and v7 Special against Triumph Bonnevilles, I want a "modern retro" bike and I think the Bonnies and v7s do it the best. But, I hate to be petty, but the LCD display on the v7 seems to really ruin what is otherwise a very clean modern retro experience and I can't fathom why they're doing that. You could say "buy used" and maybe that's the answer but it's weird thinking Moto Guzzi has deprecated analogue dials. Am I crazy? Is the lcd secretly an awesome thing? I tried searching for vis of it in action to see if maybe I was missing something but I couldn't find any focusing on it.

Best place to find an -XA?

I like the idea of the NC700X but hate hate DCT. Are the manual variants rare in the US? How much of a premium should I be expecting to pay for the manual variant? Any tips appreciated!

Bike Recommendations for LIE into Manhattan commuting?

Tl;dr: Bike recs for 600-750cc manual transmission bike that can do 2 hour commutes that are split between 70+mph highways and the city?

Longer version:

I'm looking at an occasional commute of 90min-2hours from LI to Manhattan, and would love to do it on a motorcycle instead of in a cage. I'm pretty far east of the city. For the record I did the MSF course and have the license. I currently have a Vespa 300cc I ride around town and it can get 70+mph on local highways, but on the LIE I would be doing that for 45-75minutes depending on traffic and the wind can be exhausting. I've also been looking to "level up" with a manual bike, so I'm looking in the 600-750cc range (tell me if you think that's the wrong target). My timeline is within the next year so I'm not in a rush.

Based on all these factors, I've been thinking of something with fairings, which sport bikes have but my understanding is that sport bikes get tiring after leaning forward on them for a half hour (I don't know as I haven't ridden one) and so doesn't fit with needing to ride on the highway for an hour or more. At the same time I don't think a touring bike is right either because I want something that is nimble enough in the city. Keep in mind I haven't ridden either so if I sound like a moron let me know. My driving experience is the Honda Nighthawk at the MSF course and the Vespa 300

Right now when I'm doing 70mpg on my Vespa it's for short spurts on the highway and I really have to lean into the wind to not become a sail. It's exhilarating for a few seconds but would be exhausting to drive like that for more than a few minutes.

What's the catch with Royal Enfield?

There's a lot of Royal Enfield bikes that I like the looks of and the price, so what's the catch? I see even on this subreddit people calling it a "budget" brand. But what does that mean? Are the bikes unsafe?

Retro off white helmet from Bell Helmet Website

Took me a while to find a modern helmet I liked. This has the vintage white vibe, reputable company (not Amazon chinesium), full face and the interior is very nice red velvet. Sharing it because I assume my fellow Vespa riders would be interested in the option. Got it a few months ago, it’s been great. I hope more people order them so we can bring vintage white helmets back.

Hey I'm European and I was just wondering why you guys are talking about manual transmissions?

In Europe we all drive manuals but we don't even have to think about it like "why would I rev match LOOOL" like I don't think about it AT ALL so why are you thinking about it? Can you guys explain to me why you guys are talking about manual transmissions? (I'm european btw)

Jesus as a universal figure for all, or just Jewish people?

For me I am having trouble reconciling Jesus as a universal figure for mankind when he was very particularly Jewish. In particular, something that really sticks out to me is that the Last Supper is a Passover Seder. Passover Seder celebrates when God killed a bunch of Egyptian children for the Jews. I'm sort of surprised that it is still celebrated today with such gusto, but I also struggle to accept that Jesus is a universal savior for all mankind while he waas partaking in a rather particular, and arguably callous, jewish ritual. I think it's fairly important to explain this since the eucharistic rite is a reliving of this at every mass.

That's not the only thing Jewish about Jesus of course, but you would have hoped that he rose above these things. I'm starting to understand when people distinguish a Pauline Christ vs a historical Christ. Can someone who believes that Jesus was the savior for all mankind and not just Jews please explain? Ideally the answer is better than "well god's human form had to be something so might as well be jewish", because Jesus could have rose above the Jewish particular things he said and practiced but willed not to.

If you got a Civic Si because you're broke, then why did you get an Si at all? There are cheaper Honda Civics with a stick shift

Many comments across several threads here are claiming that they only got a Honda Civic Si because they're broke. That's not the case for me, but if it's the case for you then why did you get an Si at all? There are cheaper Hondas with a stick shift on the used market. You can't be that broke if you're dropping cash on an Si.

[Meta] Can we ban all comments or posts glazing the Type R?

Hey if you got a Type R all that's important to me is that you like it, but I think this subreddit needs a zero tolerance policy on mentioning the Type R. I can't find a single post where someone is happy with their Civic Si where there isn't at least one comment comparing it negatively to a Type R. I think those of us who got an Si understand the differences with the Type R and made a conscious decision to go with an Si over a Type R. There is zero value in bringing up the Type R here.

Why are 90% of American car sales SUVs or Trucks?

SUVs are so soulless. Birthrates are down so I know it's not to bring piles of kids around (a task for which minivans are better suited anyway). Your Stanleys can fit in a Mustang, I promise. The once a year you need to buy a big item, the store will deliver it to your home no problem, same day or next. I get that some people wish they didn't have to drive, but driving an SUV makes me feel like you actually resent needing to drive at all and you just want to be as numb as possible to the experience. Sorry if this is harsh but I can't see someone with an SUV and believe they put any thought into their car. I think when people buy new vehicles most of them ask 3 questions and then buy an SUV. 1. What's the cost of the SUV? (It's bad!) 2. What's the MPG of the SUV? (It's also bad!) 3. What's the space inside the SUV? (More than you need.) People buy them pretending they're gonna go camping but then they never go camping. I'm sure some special snowflake is going to respond to tell me that he and his 13 kids all named Stanley go camping every weekend every weekend of the year. But SUVs make 80-90% of all new car sales and I'm trying to understand what is wrong with Americans.
