Broke my leg on vintage Vespa a year ago, having a hard time.

Let me introduce myself- I'm 21 and live in Chicago. I broke my leg pretty bad starting my 1980 P150 (my first vespa after a Honda metro - many vespa riders I know have said it has an especially jumpy engine) last year and it was a really hard/traumatizing experience. Having a hard time getting back on it, the sound of the engine, the smell, it's all very triggering for my senses and makes me freak out. I love scooters and have always dreamed of riding a real one regularly but having a really hard time. Any advice? Should I sell this and find an easier beginner Vespa, etc?

New in the Vespa world and a few questions.

Hello,

I am thinking of buying a Vespa as a fun bike. I usually ride motorcycles but the Vespa GTV 300/310 is growing on me. I wanna ride chill in general and sometimes sporty. Mostly up to 100 kph but I want to have the option to go on the Autobahn. How does it handle 120 kph for extended periods of time. Does it get hot? Is it stable at that speed?

Is there anything else I need to know/consider?

Pros and cons to owning a Vespa Primavera 125cc?

Debating getting one for my first bike, I'm not sure if it's worth the giant price tag second hand (£3499 for a 2024 model) and I'm trying not to view it through the lense of it being my dream bike. What exactly would/wouldnt you guys reccomend about the vespa?

Vespa GTS SuperSport 125 (2026) – How to make it faster while keeping it discreet?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a brand-new Vespa GTS SuperSport 125, model year 2026, and I’d like to get a bit more performance and top speed out of it.

It’s important to me that the Vespa looks completely stock and that any modifications aren’t immediately noticeable from the outside.

Has anyone here got experience with the 2026 GTS 125? What modifications actually make a noticeable difference in terms of acceleration and top speed (Vmax)?

I’m particularly interested in solutions that can be integrated as discreetly as possible without changing the original look.

Thanks in advance for any tips! 🛵

Vespa PK hp polini 130

After a few weeks of tinkering here and there finally got the project back together. Polini 130, jasil cut crank, 4 speed gearbox conversion, 27/69 primary gears, all new seals and bearings, polini manifold and a 24mm pwk. Did a light bit of flowing but didn't wanna go to overboard. Fingers crossed should go like a rocket, anyone got any ideas of speed to be expecting?

Inside helmet earbuds?

I sometimes use Waze (GPS) on the Vespa.

I really don't want to go through the trouble of mounting the phone on the bike (mirror or handlebar bag). Less is more, for me.

A previous look at the route on the map, and listening to the indications ("in 300 meters turn right") is enough for me.

Currently I just use some small wired earbuds but would like to go bluetooth... but I'd probably rather not have earbuds in-ear. Definitely don't plan on listening to music.

Any recommendations for a cheap speaker or similar that is glued to the inside of the helmet? I remember in the 90s my dad had something like that, so it must exist now!

Odd one: ‘06 GTS250 has been stalling when warm, so I’ve started with Seafoam, hoping to move up the ladder of easy/cheap. Then today, it stalled while stopped and wouldn’t re-start (no response to start button at all) until I honked the horn. Any thoughts? Or just coincidence?

Boost my confidence so I finally go ahead with my Vespa dream? 🤩

Since I visited the Isle of Wight in my early twenties (~15 years ago) and seeing an Island of happy Vespa lovers, I have had a dream of becoming a happy Vespa loving Vespa owner myself.

This had become possible in recent years now I can afford to, and have time to spend on a new hobby!

The only thing holding me back is being scared of drivers who may not see me and/or other issues on the road! Perhaps I’m being too nervous.

I’m not ‘in it’ for speed or adrenaline. Love the idea of nipping to the shop or heading out to a nice walking path and also having a side car for my dog/kids but that can come later!

I’d love to know if this is a real concern, or tips for how I could stick to feeling confident and safe. I imagine that I would stick to small roads with low speed limits etc?

Classic Vespa seat

I have my Vespa PK75S. I currently have a NISA seat which looks great but I want the seat to be much more comfy. I’m after the most comfortable seat that will be compatible with my Vespa model.

I like black as I like that colour for the accessories. I could stretch to a dark brown but it would have to be one sexy seat for me to change colour. But the only purpose of this change is that I want it to be super super comfy. I like leather ideally.

Here are some pics of my Vespa

Is it worth it?

Piaggio Vespa Bravo, 1997 or 98. Called the number and they said they'd sell for $800 negotiable. How good of a price is it? Is it rare? It's in pretty good condition but I'm also not reaalyyyyyy in the market for a Vespa

My first Vespa! ‘25

Just picked up my first Vespa — a 2025 GTS 310 SuperSport in Grigio Travolgente (Titanium Grey) — and holy shit, I absolutely love this thing.

I mainly bought it for commuting between Jersey City and NYC, so I wanted something practical, nimble, and easy to live with in the city.
But the power… oh my God. 😂

Coming from a smaller ‘25 Liberty 150 S (which was sadly stolen after 10 days) I was not expecting the 310 to feel this strong. Twist the throttle and it just goes. Still feels incredibly manageable around town, but now there’s actually some serious punch when I want it.

And I can’t stop looking at it. The Titanium Grey with the SuperSport details just looks so damn good.

I’ve owned big 650-1000cc motorcycles before, but there’s something about this Vespa that already feels different. Practical enough to commute on every day, but still feels like I bought myself a toy.
Anyway… first Vespa and I’m absolutely obsessed. I love this more than any motorcycle I’ve owned and ridden! I totally get the obsession now! 🛵🔥

Ride safe everyone!

Vespa: price, reliability, quality, or just style?

Well, it’s finally time for my Vespa’s maintenance, and while it’s sitting on the lift, I couldn’t help wondering: is it really as good as it is popular?
I bought mine purely because of the design — and honestly, the design is amazing. I think that part is pretty obvious 😄 Before the Vespa, I had Japanese scooters, and after about a month of ownership, once the initial excitement wore off, I started noticing some downsides. Here’s my top five:
Mine is a 2022 model, and pretty much every Japanese scooter from those years already has keyless ignition. Meanwhile, Vespa says hello from the ’90s with a regular key.
The storage under the seat is really small. Even an average-sized laptop doesn’t fit, and neither does a full-face helmet. That’s actually pretty inconvenient.
There’s no separate frame — the steel body itself is the load-bearing structure. That wouldn’t bother me, but some of the plastic parts that touch the metal tend to squeak and creak. It’s especially noticeable around the seat and the glovebox/leg-shield compartment.
The rubber grips are slightly thicker than what I’m used to on most motorcycles and scooters. I have small hands, so reaching and comfortably using the brake levers is honestly not that convenient.
And finally, maintenance and spare parts. Everything seems to cost almost exactly twice as much as comparable Japanese scooters.
At the time of writing, it has around 5,000 km on the odometer. When we bought it, we suspected the mileage might have been rolled back a little, but I doubt the real mileage is more than 10,000 km.
I’d really like to hear from other Vespa owners. What has your experience been like?
Maybe I just got unlucky with mine?

Why does my oil plug come out on its own?

Three times on hot days my oil plug has come out on its own, I didn't know anything until I felt hot oil spitting on my left leg! It's plastic, and it's not cracked. Does anyone know why this happens?

My first Vespa! Any tips?

Just wanted to share my happiness with random strangers of the internet, that have common likes as me 😄

Never had a motorcycle/scooter before, riding a car through traffic always felt super tight and cluttered. So I took the decision on transitioning to 2 wheels and I couldn't be happier and more comfortable. It's just so easy to maneuver myself through traffic (even though I still don't have the confidence to pass cars ahead), and the wind in my face while driving it is priceless.

With that said, any tips more experienced riders have for me? From ways to behave in traffic to maintenance of this matte finished baby?

Also, more specifically, any recommendation on how to have it locked in order for it to be harder to get stolen while I'm not around? For example, if I go to work, I park it, any recommendation of locks that specifically fit the Primavera 125 Officina 8 Vespa?

Thank you in advance everyone, drive safe!
