Wheels won’t move forward?

I have a 89 GT it’s a project car. We’ve never had driving. It’s got 373 diff gears. The car is completely jacked up off the ground. When we try to spin either of the rear tires, they won’t go forward and lock up. It sounds like there’s a clicking in the differential. We can spin the passenger tire backwards and it rotates the transmission and when we spin the driver side tire backwards, it spins both tires together we have the diff cover off and the diff looks good, but it’s still not allowing the rear tires to spin forward. Looking for advice or help. Thanks

Are forged internals worth it

I’m taking apart my 302 from my 89 GT. Was looking at going ahead and replacing the bottom end, we are crack testing the block first. but was wondering if forged internals were even worth it with still having a cast block. Looking at putting a x303 cam in and aluminum heads. Should I do anything else with that?

Need help and advice on motor

I’m pulling apart my motor to replace head gaskets in intake manifold gaskets because I believe that they are the cause of a coolant leak. Also going to pull off the water pump and timing cover to replace those as well. I didn’t see any obvious areas of a leak in any of the gaskets though. Does anyone know of an anything else I need to check for besides a crack in the block or any advice on any of this. i’m also kind of thinking that it was leftover residue from the car sitting that just hadn’t gotten flushed out because when we pulled it apart, there was still a lot of thick milky oil in the engine.
I also noticed that they’re at some point was water sitting in the cylinders in his left a rust line that is noticeable to the touch but not bad. Does it need to be rehomed? Can I do it with the piston still in the cylinder?
This hole by the distributor shaft does not look factory. Is this bad?
Sorry if any of these are dumb questions I’m not well versed with the internals

Hei distributor no spark

I have an 89 gt that is carb swapped with an hei distributor. I’m been messing with trying to get spark for the last 2 days, I’ve ensured power ground. I’ve resistance tested the coil, spark and Lu wires and the pickup coil and all tested good. When I voltage tested the pickup coil with the motor cranking it ran 0.02V periodically. I’ve seen that the gap between the teeth on the pole and on the coil could be wrong but it looks barely used. Has anyone had issues like this. Should I keep testing and replacing parts or buy a new distributor?

Slow crank?

Previously got the motor to fire a couple times with starting fluid before we had everything finished. It’s mostly done now and wondering if the starter is slow cranking. Rpm gauge isn’t working to tell

Looking for advice

Me and my brother picked up this nearly complete 89 GT and are planning on getting it running and mechanically sound and then move to painting later. Right now we are working on getting it running. It was switched from efi to carb. We aren’t sure if everything is there for it. We don’t have the fuel distributor but is there anything else for the fuel system that might be missing. Also the exhaust is just bbk headers. What are your exhaust recommendations. We were thinking about fabricating our own with just a muffler. No cats or resonator. Will that be ok, Ik it will be loud but we are 18 and 20 so we don’t mind. Any help with this or other issues you may see popping up you could give advice on would be appreciated

How much can u carry in a frameless backpack

I’m moving close to a 10lb base weight and still have an Osprey rook 65L. Over 3 lbs. I’m wanting to get a new pack that’s sub 2 pounds or close to. I’ve been looking at the kakwa as I’ve never really considered a frameless. Here’s my question. How much can you carry comfortably in a frameless backpack. If I take new people hiking and have to carry extra is that going to make it uncomfortable? Should I just stick to a framed pack like the Durston? I just dont really know the limitations for comfort frameless packs

Looking to start making my own gear

I’m looking to start making my own gear. I want to start with stuff sacks and eventually make a backpack. I already have a decent sewing machine and creative mindset. I’m looking for peoples advice on their favorite materials and where you buy them from and also does the thread I use matter? Any tips or things you wish you knew sooner before I jump into making gear. Thanks

Pretty sure I stripped the bolts that go one the cam cover and the bolts couldn’t hold and backed out causing this. I don’t think it’s repairable but just looking to see if someone knows. Planning on replacing but that’s almost $800
