Best new camera for an old school photographer?

Notes:

I'm a 24 y/o photographer, and my mom is a 60 y/o former hobby photographer.

She uses her iPhone mostly to take photos nowadays - but it kills me how much the new phone cameras destroy good pictures. (I've tried adjusting the settings, but you can't take portrait mode away from the woman)

I'd love to get her a camera that she can use for taking photos casually. But she's naturally a bit picky about what camera to invest in

Interested in any and all ideas! Especially if you have similar preferences/experience to her.

Budget: It doesn't need to be anything crazy fancy, but having a good "all around" camera does come with a pricetag. I don't see us spending more than 1k

Country: USA

Condition: Any condition - mostly looking for ideas!

Type of Camera: Mirrorless (or the right DSLR)

Intended use: Photography

End use: Social media and small prints (casual)

If photography: what style: Everyday use

What features do you absolutely need: I'm not sure how much she'll want to mess with stuff but she doesn't want a fixed lens. And really doesn't wanna do any editing.

What features would be nice to have: Adaptable to various lighting environments - with good auto features.

Portability: She's used to using a traditional film camera, and likes the weight of those, but she wants it to be small enough to transport easily.

Cameras you're considering: Fujifilm is of interest to me

Cameras you already have: I typically shoot with a Canon R5. She's very used to the traditional photographic film process- which aren't the cameras I'm familiar with.

Use warranty on lens or repair glass locally?

I had some damage done to my lens. It's fairly superficial and I honestly don't think I see it in photos. (Is there a specific method to check for this?)

I have an active warranty on this lens, so I could send it to canon to have it looked at. But I need the lens in the next 2 weeks, so I'm apprehensive to mail it away.

Does anyone have experience using their warranty for something like this? Will an additional charge be added to repair the damage? If so, I will likely just get it repaired at a local camera shop.

I appreciate any and all advice on what I should do about this

Skylight "Care"?

Quick and silly question I can't find the answer for - but what is the Skylight "Care"? I saw it has a separate roadmap but wasn't sure what device it was referring to. Is that the photo frame?

Performing at Listening Parties?

Has there been talk of surprise performances at any of the events tomorrow (7/23)? I believe boygenius did one in LA for their 2023 release.

I don't want to let speculation veer too parasocial; but is there an area that would be particularly likely based on her recent appearances?

Is there a subreddit for both recommending and looking for jobs?

I'm imagining someone posts describing themselves/work history. Basically say what they’re looking for. Then people comment with careers they think the OP is suited for.

There are a lot of fascinating jobs/trades that aren't well known. Sometimes all it takes is one suggestion to point someone towards their dream career.

Can you tell the job search is getting a bit desperate...

Downloading Full Lightroom Gallery

This feels like something I'm easily missing - but how do you mass export on Lightroom Mobile?

I've got a 14k image gallery that I want to download off the cloud. I'm not sure how to get the original files onto my computer as a bulk export.

Honestly they're terribly organized - if at all. So I'm not worried about them being saved in any folders. I used LR on my iPad at the beginning of college - so these are photos I haven't touched in years.

What is the best course of action here? I'm open to any suggestions.

Skylight's Plans with Corporate Integration

I may have missed some communication from Skylight in regards to this overall conversation. But with the implementation of Disney and Walmart I grow more wary of the future for a device I rely on.

Skylights team has been incredible with communication, transparency, and communication. The best I have ever seen by a modern business. I adore the system they have for receiving and implementing feedback - I worry this customer service won't survive long with involvement from such gigantic corporations.

I am in favor of convenience and even some novelty. But I would be disappointed to see money going toward character licensing when so many users have expressed frustration with the subscription fees that come along with this expensive luxury item. Partnering with brands like Walmart, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc would bring great improvements to user experience. But I would love to see some kind of acknowledgement and reassurance from the team at Skylight that these features aren't indicative of an incoming acquisition or overhaul.

ISO: 'Celebrity Pink' drawstring cargo pants

I got these pants from walmart a few months ago. I recently tore them beyond repair and am unable to find the same pair ANYWHERE!

Is anyone familiar with these pants? They're lightweight wide legged cargo pants with a drawstring waistband
