Any Listeners of History of Africa Know What's Up?
We got 2 episodes of the new season, and Andy hasn't uploaded in like a month. Is he okay??

The place was dying when I lived in Bossier; it's dead now, from what I've heard. In my dream, new management was rebuilding it, and a bunch of new stores were moving in. People were starting to wander around the shops again, and kids were having fun.
Is there any such hope?
Former Catholic homeschooler here! I had a great experience with it: My parents' instruction was rigorous, texts were tailored to my level and learning style, and we were encouraged to get out and interact with kids our own age, both within and outside our bubbles. Over the years, I've encountered others that I once knew become angry and ashamed of having been raised in a homeschooling environment. These typically fall into a few categories:
I'd appreciate folks levelling with me here! God bless!
I found this interesting: Obviously, this is coming from a woman, so different persepctive already. She is also comedy-based, but her main content is heavily horror-centered. She makes jokes throughout, and even skips of the the r*pe part. But she still seems to get and firmly establish the issue.
I'm almost 30. I have had an increased occurrence of deep, cystic acne as I've aged. I have irregular periods. I also have lower belly fat (jiggle) despite consisten pilates/calisthenics workouts 3× weekly. Do I need to get this checked out?
I was born and raised on the Northshore (Hammond area). While we were rural, with things rarely happening, I was always happy to grow up where I did. The food, the festivals, the culture, and Nola just a drive away---it was a dream! I have since moved to Iowa City, first for grad school and now for work, but I am still Louisiana at heart.
My closest food friends are the Jamaicans, but I still cook red beans at home when I can!
I am almost 30 years old, and I have never done bar trivia! Where is the best place for a good time?
God loves you, and your church loves you. You deserve freedom and dignity as children of God.
At the start of each episode, the host says "I'm neither a credentialed academic nor a time-traveling Medieval Norse pagan," but the show is thorough and absolutely excellent! Highly, highly recommended!
A bit ago, I started seeing this woman with a (please don't hate me) shrill voice and glasses. She calls herself the "Knitting Cult Lady," and she does exactly that---knit while talking about cults. I've seen several videos of hers, and I even went so far back to find an old talk she gave about growing up in the Children of God and later studying cults academically.
While I don't deny this woman's personal experience and the dedication she had to studying how cults work, there's a very noticeable salesman streak that I cannot jive with. In nearly every single video, she is holding up her book(s), referring to her book, etc., pitching to the audience. Rather than meaningfully expanding on what she has already written, providing more depth and analysis, she repeats what she has already written, sometimes reading from the book(s) directly. Additionally, she has begun advertising a podcast, calling herself something to the effect of a "cult watch-woman."
My fear is that she is creating her own ecosystem, safe from outside tainting from the naysayers and critics. She has gathered her following, she has her trusted audience, and now she will make sure that they are fed a constant stream of her content and ideas, which are often presented in a harsh (and you might say paranoid) manner. This is not unlike what Rush Limbaugh and company did for radio audiences in its heyday. It is also not unlike a digital cult, itself.
As always, I'm open to criticism, but these are just my concerns based off what I have, myself, observed. I can't say I fully trust this "scholar of cults," and I wanted to see if anyone else had the same impression. (I also wasn't exactly sure where else to post this, sorry.)
Hi y'all, I am originally from down south but have lived in Iowa for the past three years. I'm here for my first Iowa midterms. Where's a good place to look to find objective and detailed info on the candidates? Thanks!
Taking a risk here, but does anyone know her? She's right outside my office, we've talked, and I don't get any bad vibes at all. I always forget the name of the gofundme she asks for donations to, though
Off the bat: I do have PTSD. However, my startle response is pretty under control, both around men and women. For some reason though, my boss freaks me out, almost without fail. He is a good guy, and we on friendly terms. It is so freaking annoying!
I keep hearing talk of "AI psychosis." While not denying that as a phenomenon, there's also no denying that folks who spend enormous amounts online, especially locked in algorithms like on TikTok, have got something seriously going on. Is more general "online psychosis" also recognized, not as a diagnosis but a phenomenon?
We're not in the business of changing church doctrine here; other than that, title.
Shot in the dark, but I'm interested in simply listening to anyone that was in this group. I was in it, but somewhat removed, as I lived a few towns from the center.
I couldn't find a real answer, just that the review came up null.
