Instead of studying CS classes I decided to make this website that tracks every Instagram post from clubs that mention free food or events. I have a list of about 900 club instagrams that it goes through every other day in search for events. Let me know what you think!
Disclaimer: I'm don't go here, I made it for my friends at purdue.
Curious if anyone here has run into this issue. I had an app with 10k downloads called "Second Thought" and then I changed its name to "Delay". But now searching "Delay" doesn't show it anywhere, but even a day later searching "Second Thought" still brings it up. Is this recoverable or am I just cooked?
I'm a UIUC student but I made this for umich as well cause I feel we could all use more side quests in our life, and a lot of event sites miss the ones from Insta. I basically have a list of ~1000 umich insta profiles that I go through each day and extract info from. All upcoming events are posted here: eventsatumich.com . I also tag the ones with free food, so for that you can go to eventsatumich.com/?freefood=true . Also the site is free and ad-less!
disclaimer: I am not a purdue student. I go to uiuc. I made this free website that goes to every purdue club's instagram every day and collects their events and marks the ones that mention food. Its called eventsatpurdue.com . You can filter for free food with eventsatpurdue.com/?freefood=true
Hope you like it :)
Hi guys, I'm a junior in CS and I built this screen time app that makes you answer a few practice questions every time you want to scroll social media. Great if you wanna passively study a class, learn a new language, or study for tests like the MCAT, GMAT, SAT.
Its currently in private beta and I would love to get some user feedback on it!
So if anyone would like to try it over a free latte, here's a calendly link: https://calendly.com/yaseenhalabi/try-delay-app-for-15-min .
Happy to answer any questions here as well!
I'm a junior in CS and I'm releasing eventsatuiuc.com for free!! Its a massive catalog of events pulled straight from club instagrams. I built it because I had a really hard time as a freshman meeting people and having cool experiences.
If you know any freshman please share this with them! I think it would be a great resource to have.
Also if you have read this far, check out eventsatuiuc.com/?freefood=true for FREE FOOD
eventsatuiuc.com is back up. It collects all the upcoming events from every single club instagram and puts all the posts in one place. Its free and doesn't need signup. Let me know what you think!
Reminder to keep iterating! I'm a solo developer and I've been spending a lot of time refining the look and branding of my app.
Bottom design was at 200 downloads
Middle was 1000 downloads
Top is 6000
Just wanted to share since I got a lot of feedback from this subreddit
Backstory:
I was a big user of Opal and One Sec before I built this. I decided to remake One Sec, but with a twist: you had to gamble for your screen time.
Turned out to be more appealing than I thought, one Instagram reel went viral and now 5000 people have downloaded it.
That being said it is a paid app, so only a subset of those users pay for it (which is even more crazy to me).
I'm not gonna self advertise here, just wanted to share this crazy productivity app journey.
Conversion rate up 20%!!!!! Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AppStoreOptimization/s/76Fgkko7x9
Hi, I'm the developer of Second Thought
I've been working on this app for about 6-8ish months (i forget), sitting at about 10 subscribers for a while. Coded the MVP by hand and vibe coded features on top of it.
The only thing that kept me going during these months was the 10 subscribers that I got, basically telling me that someone was willing to pay for it.
The most important change I made was probably my onboarding, I would watch my friends try to set up the app and see where they got confused, and eliminate those points of friction. I also made sure everything in my app was simple and not confusing for the average user.
Recently partnered with my friend who makes good insta reels and tiktoks, and he made some simple UGC videos on a fresh insta account. Once he made a video that did good, he just repeated that format over and over. The format wasn't even that crazy, just talking to camera with some cuts, images, and sound effects. The apps name wasn't even mentioned.
Anyone else been here and know what to do next? I wanna take this as far as possible.
I've been doing on some other subreddits, and its been very beneficial to check out other peoples apps and also get some fresh opinions on mine.
Just DM me and I'll be happy to chat!!
If you don't get a D in your classes you are chilling. If you do, theres a chance of you getting a warning letter. You just send a sympathetic essay back and you will be fine. Just don't fail a class or do awful in 2+ classes
Lets admit it we all wanna self promote here, lets just test each others apps. I'll even write a written review for you if you give me a testflight link to test (alongside actual link).
In return you can try my app out (its a gambling/screen time app) DM me if ur down

Claude, codex, and old gemini cli didn't have this issue? Google pls fix soon. I can't scroll through 45 build files to find the source code.
I have weekly and yearly plan, yearly plan has an introductory 3 day free offer. But what if I wanted to do 50% off on the yearly plan for a year, and still offer the 3 day free offer? Or like offer codes for free 2 weeks off.
Would I have to make new subscription offerings? Or can I do this with existing subscription offerings.
I notice that most users wanna try the app without putting any card details at all, not even for a free trial. So maybe letting them go on the app and then paywalling them after a few days is better?
